Work in progress of my tribute to Christopher Tolkien. I wanted to make something to pay my respects. Thanks so much for everything.

“Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar”

What can you see on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea, a pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn to silver glass
A light on the water, grey ships pass
Into the West.
A tribute to Christopher Tolkien. Without him, we wouldn’t have been able to grasp the true depth of Middle Earth’s history, and there would be many more stories left untold. The Silmarillion has always been a favorite, and has been a constant source of inspiration and a source of comfort, along with the other books in the legendarium. There are no words to describe how much these books mean to me, and no words to express how I’ll forever be grateful for them for their accompaniment throughout the years. It always felt like coming home, reading them, to a place you’ll forever hold dear to your heart. His and his father’s legacy will continue to live on, and I’ll forever be thankful that it has been released into the world, for the world is immensely better because of it.
From the depths of my heart, thank you for everything you’ve done, Christopher Tolkien. May the Star of Eärendil guide you back Into the West, and may you find eternal peace in the Halls of Mandos.

Uutta Tolkienia toukokuussa 2017!
HarperCollins julkaisee uutta Tolkienia ensi vuoden toukokuussa Berenin ja Lúthienin tarinan muodossa.
The Bookseller- sivusto uutisoi asiasta:
”HarperCollins (HC) will publish a new J R R Tolkien title in May 2017.
Edited by his son Christopher Tolkien, Beren and Lúthien will be published simultaneously in the US (by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) and in other territories by Tolkien publishers worldwide.
Christopher Tolkien extracted the tale of lovers Beren and Lúthien from The History of Middle-earth, a 12-volume series that collected and analysed material relating to the fiction of J R R Tolkien. The story of Beren and Lúthien has evolved since it was first written in 1917, and has been reworked in various forms, including poetry. To reflect this, the new book opens with Tolkien’s original text, before including passages from later texts that rework the tale. Presented together for the first time, they reveal aspects of the story hitherto discarded.
Beren and Lúthien will be published on the 10th anniversary of the last Middle-earth title, The Children of Húrin, with the volume to include illustrations by Alan Lee. HC holds world rights in all languages.”

Vuoden 2016 Kuvastaja-palkintoehdokkaat!
Suomen Tolkien-seura Kontu ry:n vuosittain parhaalle suomalaiselle
fantasiakirjalle myöntämä Kuvastaja-palkinto jaetaan Helsingin
kirjamessuilla perjantaina 28.10.2016 kello 18.45.
Kuvastaja-palkinnon lyhytlistalle pääsivät tänä vuonna seuraavat romaanit:
Siiri Enoranta: Surunhauras, lasinterävä (WSOY)
Emmi Itäranta: Kudottujen kujien kaupunki (Teos)
Anne Leinonen: Vaskinainen (Osuuskumma)
Iida Sammalisto: Tähtimosaiikki (Otava)
Lyhytlistalla on tänä vuonna poikkeuksellisesti vain neljä romaania.
Nämä neljä romaania erottuivat muusta viime vuonna julkaistusta
tuotannosta niin voimakkaasti, että esiraati päätyi poikkeuksellisesti
tähän ratkaisuun tänä vuonna.
Lyhytlistan teokset valittiin vuonna 2015 julkaistuista suomalaisista
fantasiakirjoista, jotka eivät olleet selkeitä satukirjoja. Voittajan
valitsee asiantuntijaraati.
