Staring at the Ceiling visualizer <33
this poem depicts the feeling of teenage angst and the sort of feeling that it’s me against the world. when I need to tune out the world I always put in my earbuds and quiet my mind with music. music has a way of making us feel understood and heard when it feels no one else is listening. when you can’t explain how you feel or why you feel a certain way I personally turn to music as it seems to perfectly depict the thoughts that can overwhelm my head. that feeling when you find a song that’s just so perfectly crafted in every way you just want to inject it into your veins and have it consume ur whole body is unlike no other. this poem also touches on the comfort our bedrooms can be to us. there is no place I feel more safe and calm than my room. our bedrooms are extensions of who we are. we decorate them how we want, hang pictures of our favorite singers, bands, people, etc. also playing into the idea of feeling misunderstood by the world, my bedroom makes me feel understood and comforted in ways I think no human can.

Staring at the Ceiling
the lava lamp on her bedside table moves like a jellyfish
and the fairy lights around her room twinkle like stars
every picture taped to her wall has meaning
but the daisies that sit in the vase she painted need a little love
every night she lays on her bed with earbuds in and stares up at the ceiling
her volume all the way up
she wants to feel like she is swallowing the the lyrics whole
there is nothing she loves more than to tune out the world
no one comforts her like music does
