A Picnic in the Park

Happy Mumscarian week everyone! Today’s prompt is nature/new beginnings. Redscape fluff be upon ye!

Summary: Mumbo is finally back on Hermitcraft after months away, so Scar takes him on a picnic in Scarland

Mumbo stumbles as he lands heavily on the cobbled streets of Scarland, nearly dropping his blue shulker of diamonds. He takes a couple steps to regain his balance before looking around, jaw dropping open as he admires the buildings around him. Shop fronts of every shape and color line the street, the midday sun reflecting off of the many windows. Each one is filled with various treats or memorabilia, most of which are in the shape of Jellie’s ears.

The trees along the sidewalks are meticulously manicured. They draw his eye along the road past colorful gardens and towards the grand walls crowning the top of a moss covered mountain. He moves to rest the shulker under one of his arms as he takes it all in.

A voice rings out from behind, making him jump in surprise. “Well hello there Mumbo!

When he turns around Scar smiles widely at him, expression soft. He is wearing a safety hat and a bright orange vest. A red shulker box rests on his lap as he wheels himself closer.

“Scar, hello! Gosh, you scared me.”

Scar laughs brightly, eyes sparkling as he comes to a stop in front of Mumbo. “Look at that mustache, it’s so good seeing it again.”

He huffs fondly. “Hello, my love. I missed you too.” He reaches out to accept Scar’s extended hand before he continues to glance around at the store fronts. “This place is ridiculous by the way. It is very beautiful.”

“You are the one that’s beautiful,” Scar replies. Mumbo can feel his face heat up as he looks back towards him, sputtering through an incoherent reply as Scar continues. “But thank you. It is still a work in progress, of course. The castle is coming soon.”

“Wha– Scar!” His voice wavers with embarrassment. “You can’t just say things like that and then move on like it didn’t happen, my heart can’t take it!”

Scar looks up at him with a now mischievous smile. “Well surely you know flattery is the way to a man’s heart. I was merely returning the favor.”

Mumbo’s face continues to burn as he replies easily. “You already have my heart, Scar.”

“Oh yes, well you’ve got me there.” Scar tugs lightly on their connected hands, pulling him down for a quick kiss. “So, how about we find a nice spot to relax and you can tell me more about those diamonds you’re offering.”

“That sounds wonderful.”

Scar lets go of his hand and begins to lead him along the main road. They pass the remaining shops before turning towards an inconspicuous looking wall. He follows Scar through a hidden doorway and suddenly everything looks more industrial. To the left, a metal building covered in green paint towers above them. The cobbled bricks below their feet gradually become a concrete walkway. Scar turns to the right, towards a course dirt path lined with trees, leading behind the gardens and up onto the mountain.

They meander through the forest, talking and laughing about recent shenanigans, including the silly summoning circle Grian had made. There was an unfortunate irony with Grian trying to bring Mumbo back, only to have to make an unexpected off-server trip the morning after his return. They did at least have that one night together. Plus, at least he could have some quality time with Scar while they wait for Grian to return.

Slowly the trees become more manicured, each appearing to be hand-shaped and draped with a thick moss. Small rocks and mushrooms are scattered throughout the bright green grass.

“Here we are!” Scar announces, gesturing broadly at the landscape. Mumbo glances around. It didn’t appear to be too different from the other areas they had walked through.

He brings a hand to rub at the back of his neck. “It’s gorgeous here Scar, but I’m not sure I understand?”

When he looks back over, Scar is already digging through his red shulker. “We are having a picnic, of course!” Mumbo watches as he pulls a striped blanket from the box.

“Ah, right,” he chuckles awkwardly. “That makes more sense.” Scar beams at him. Mumbo sets his shulker down on a nearby rock before taking the blanket and spreading it out across the soft grass.

“Would you set this box over there and then give me a hand?” Scar points to a spot off to the side.

“Of course.” As he sets down the box, Scar locks his wheels and slowly hoists himself up from his chair. Mumbo steps closer allowing Scar’s arms to wrap around his neck. He hugs Scar’s waist, simultaneously pulling him closer and supporting his weight. Their chests press together, the warmth of Scar is a familiar comfort, even after so many months apart.

He can feel Scar’s breath on his face as they press their foreheads together. Scar’s eyes flutter closed as Mumbo whispers into the small space between them. “Hello, you handsome man.”

The grip on his neck tightens, pulling him impossibly closer. “Hi, my love.” He feels Scar’s lips brush against on his own and his heart feels full at the shape of Scar’s whispered words. “I’ve missed you so much. It’s not the same without you here.”

They close the distance, lips falling together with a gravity that had grown too strong to resist. Every moment they had spent apart, months he had spent longing to be held by his lovers, finally crashing down into this one desperate kiss. His chest aches with the desire to be ever closer. To hold this moment forever.

But they need to breathe.

Scar breaks away first, gasping for air. Mumbo opens his eyes to see flushed cheeks, hungry eyes, and the softest smile. A gentle wind ruffles Scar’s hair and Mumbo is reminded of where they are.

He leans in to press a kiss to the corner of Scar’s mouth. “How about that picnic you promised?”

“That would be amazing.”

Scar grunts quietly as Mumbo helps guide him down onto the blanket. Mumbo makes sure to grab the red shulker before settling down next to him. They lean into each other as Scar pulls out a small feast of popcorn and churros.

Mumbo takes Scar’s hand, lacing their fingers together as they look out across the fields of Scarland.

“Oh Mumbo, didn’t you mention something about diamonds earlier?

“Ah yes, but I figured it out. It’s you that makes me happy.”

Hello everybody! Today, we have... a bit of a doozy! Earlier this week, an article and advertisement was put up for Redscapes face reveal! Here's the link: [Link]

However... As we all know, the entire thing turned out to be a lie! :( Yesterday, around 7pm EST, a crowd of around 50 people were gathered near a stage, in which the famous motorcyclist Redscapes would appear. However, as he arrived on stage... There were whispers of him being... different.

That's right, folks! We had an all out imposter among us! (Sorry, couldn't resist! AHEM-) Now, for the Redscapes freaks out there, we all know that Redscaoes is 5'7" (or 170cm), however, the man that stepped up was at the very least 6'0"! Also, waaay too beefy, and not at all like our beloved Redscapes!

Ah, but we should really get to the interesting parts... Ahem! The Redscapes impersonator, now dubbed "Redsonator", or "Wrongscapes", was shown up by the real, in-the-flesh Redscapes! Our inside man who actually showed up has a video and a few photos here: [Link]

Redscapes revved up his engine, then carefully but majestically sauntered over to Wrongscapes. The tension was high, with many confused. It was clear, THIS was our Redscapes! From what I saw in the video, it seemed as though Redscapes challenged Wrongscapes to a race (however, no footage nor photos of the alleged race have surfaced)

All 50 members of the crowd were disappointed at the scam, but many were relieved, as well! Wrongscapes had a cocky aura to him, and I, personally, would've decked him for messing with our beloved Redscapes' reputation.

That's all, folks! Geez, what an exciting day!
