❝ you didn't hear anything, did you? ❞ edelgard inquires breathlessly, cheeks still warm from the adrenaline of seeing a rat scurrying metres away from her soles. the high pitched screech was instinctual, guttural almost. she's slain beasts, conquered nations, forced lords into submission unflinchingly so, yet before a rodent she's reminded of the darkness that swallowed and upended her life.
her gaze shifts tentatively towards @lunarrepel, attempting to read shadowheart — wondering how her companion would respond to the seeing her without the composed mask of a monarch, the mask of a leader. / sc!

@actiongrrl continued from here because she's a terrible influence!
ㅤMike would have liked to have said that there had been some big plan in mind for Wolfie's name, that he'd thought it out and was making the 'joke' before anyone else could, but the fact of the matter was that he'd referred to the wolf as that in the moment and it had stuck. Better than 'big guy' and 'good boy' all the time, though those also fit, obviously. He had some interesting discussions ahead of him, but he was determined and it wasn't something he had to deal with that day. Night? He had no idea what time it was and given he was a few minutes out from another long nap, he didn't think it mattered.
ㅤ"Looks like I'm not the only one headed for some painkillers," he pointed out, watching her look over her hands and wishing he had the energy to be faux-mad about the 'redneck cousin vibes' she'd just dropped between them, but they were both fading, and the nurse seemed to have super senses about that kind of thing because she was there and ready to move them along. "Good, cause you know, Wolfie would miss you. And I need anything that's going to promote healing, at this rate."
ㅤHe gave her an attempt at the cocky smirk that he was so well known for at that, even a wink, but it was hindered by the bruising, black eye and split lip. Still, he offered up a wave of a bandaged hand almost like a little salute while the nurse approached to likely get Sam settled and then come back for him. "Yes to movie, you can even pick it."
ㅤAs expected, he was gone to the world right after he got the painkillers, but at least it was sweet relief, and so began a cycle of sleep, company and dealing with nurses and doctors that thankfully didn't last more than a few days. There was a surprisingly helpful cop (agent) from the day of their rescue who made friends enough with Wolfie to help with walking him until Mike could get his ass up consistently, and then very likely pulled some strings that Mike wasn't asking about to help with getting Wolfie on a plane with Mike and Sam back to California. From what he'd heard, he was the last one ready to leave and it was mostly his fingers that they were really focusing on at that point. Well, that and the head injuries before he got on a plane - seemed like a good idea.
ㅤGetting through security had seemed like a task, but compared to what he was headed home to, he was okay if it was a circus for a little while. Naturally, his parents had been in touch because he wasn't underage anymore, but he was still a college student living out of the dorms and very clearly not going back to school right away. That meant that he was headed home, and his mother was not going to be happy with the look of him - or his new dog. He almost tried to hitch a ride with Sam and her dad when they met up with the man at the airport, but he pulled a smile and apologized for not shaking hands with a show of bandages (and Wolfie's leash in the least damaged one) and hoped he didn't look as utterly wrecked as he still felt. Then, his own dad was coming out of the crowd waiting by the arrivals area and he leaned in for a quick, gentle hug on Sam and promised he'd talk to her soon.
ㅤSoon didn't come quite fast enough, but he finally made his escape down the street on foot under the pretense of walking Wolfie and just made for an extended trip when he showed up at Sam's house two days after the plane, pulling his sunglasses off to grin at her at the door. "Hey. I was in the neighborhood."

who: @scfeerah
when and where: following the arrival of lady dayne and lady jordayne to the court of sunspear, most notably, following the tense interaction between ruqaiyah and devani.
what: a good old bitch fest.
it did not take long for the ladies of house dayne and house jordayne to find their skirts wafting through the bustling great domed hall of sunspear, the sound of their anklets being drowned out by the sound of the tabla and the laughter, though there was a silent simmer that lingered between them. the epitome of ancient kinship flowering into something of far more substance, the ladies had always remained inseparable, despite the differences in their nature, temperament and ideology.
"gods, she is going to ruin this for me, isn't she?" ruqaiyah asked, her voice low, but as though she were ready to explode into what could only be seen as a tantrum. "she'll see to it to somehow break the betrothal. or she'll try to have me embarrass myself." the marriage that was supposed to go through between herself and the prince of sunspear.
still, there was none other that would be able to read the mind of the grace of the evening without even having to utter a word. so many fleeting looks, slightly raised brows, and expressions that said all words could not say. and gods knew, if there was a sound that matched this nights situation, it would be the sound of blaring trumpets and shattering glass in the background of knowing looks.
"she was even speaking to the prince." she commented, and there was jealousy laced in her voice. gods knew for what, apart from the idea of devani taking the life that was meant for ruqaiyah. "are they friends? do you know? i had no clue." safeerah constantly trying to get ruqaiyah to stop engaging in the conversation, even if it were to stoop to low levels of malice and utter spite. "why can't she just crawl back to whatever hole she came out of it, and take dante uller's crumbs with her?"
if the situation were less personal for ruqaiyah, she would have found herself giggling at the look which crossed the expression of lady jordayne; one of quiet surprise, as though she did not want to make any sudden movements in the tense interaction. the discussion happened after they retreated to the grand ornate chambers given to the lady of house dayne, and the smoke had been lit using the candles already ignited: she did not wish to fill her sister's room with the smell of smoke, so ruqaiyah leaned out of a window, blowing it out into the night sky before her.
"i should have ignored her. i know you were trying to tell me to ignore her."

@godsspawn asked ›› "I don't come teach at camp for one summer, and you're taller than me, that's not fair." (For Anakin from Dawn)
"not my fault you're short." anakin took after his mortal mother in that way—towering over most people he met.
"have you tried growing?" he joked.

— for @glcws.
" move along, idiot. literally, why would you sit down here of all the places ? " putting down her phone, she glared at sunny, who had just sat down in front of her. the hot chocolate she had gotten herself at the revolution cafeteria long since having gone cold, buried deep in her sleep-deprived mind. she had turned in a paper late last night, while having to get up and into the studio early this morning. while losing sleep was a regular occurance for her, it didn't make her more tolerant of other people's bullshit.
considering the recent developments, dawn took a moment to look around the room. this part of the building was only accesible to employees and signed artists but you could never be too careful. settling her gaze back on him, she raised an eyebrow. " i hope you have some kind of reason to ruin my day with the sight of your face ? "

Comebacks were exhausting, but at least this time she got to go home when schedules were over. It was crazy how overworked they had been lately and she wasn't really looking forward to the next day, considering they had a variety show in the morning and a music show later - it was too much already. But right now she was just happy to go home and sleep for a while. Still with her hair and makeup on, she would worry about that later. She was about to take an elevator when she heard a noise. Now, she didn't believe what they said about a ghost living in one of the practice rooms, but it was odd when it was so late and nobody should still be around unless they had work. Sighing, she made her way to the room and was surprised to see Dawn. "Oh, hey. I thought someone had forgotten to turn the lights off."

dawn & nelly, beginning of the holiday party
( @fridcylights. )
Playing host is something that Dawn loves, surprising no one, so he’s always thrilled when this time of year comes around and he and Slate get to turn Slate’s house into a cozy winter wonderland. Yes, it can be a bit stressful, especially for Slate, knowing how important it is to him to impress the others and make sure they’re having a grand time, but he loves nothing more than bringing everyone he cares about together to spend time celebrating and relaxing. That’s his main self-appointed duty of the party, make certain everyone’s happy and in the spirit of things, which means ever single the doorbell first rang, he’s been moving from person to person nonstop, drink in hand, making sure it’s happening.
So the moment he sees Nelly, not having made it over to her yet so far, he crosses the room to her, immediately going in for a tight hug, unable to resist. “Nelly, I’m so glad you made it! You look gorgeous as always,” Dawn says giving her a big smile, looking her over. If there’s someone he can always count on to bring as much festiveness as him to a holiday party, it’s definitely always been Nelly. “Thanks so much for coming, and thanks for the rolls, they’ll all be perfect with Slates masterpiece meal.”

ASK ANSWERED: INHUMANN.
@inhumann asked: 7 for the icon starter / ariel & har
"Ya keep doin' that, and you'll end up dead." her nose scrunches up slightly for a moment before sighing, crossing her arms over her chest. "You know, there's better ways to handle something like that, and it's not through usin' magic. A good gauze and bandage would have been jus' as fine."

❝ The fauna and wildlife here is not so different from the species of where I originated. It's ... It's comforting, I must confess. ❞ In her hand, she grasps the alchemical compendium that she borrowed from Gale earlier ( somehow, he knew titles of texts for every subject matter here ).
Gently, her gloved hand brush against the flower petals. A soft smile gracing her lips. ❝ Autumncrocus. It's beautiful. ❞ Edelgard decides to leave the flora standing, not wanting to pluck away its beauty. Slowly, she sits directly on the grass and casts her gaze towards @infernaliscor.
❝ Karlach, do you have a favourite flower ... or plant? ❞ / sc.

@secondhandmckie caught him making an escape.
"If you prefer one of them I can always flag 'em down for you--" Molly nodded her head toward the door, tapping ash from the end of her cigarette. "Otherwise you're stuck with me out here for a little bit."
ㅤFinding hidey holes at fancy parties his mother dragged him to had never really been a huge thing for Mike. After all, it was just a party, just a few hours of obnoxious, fake people, and Mike was good at rubbing elbows. People liked him and even if he didn't like or really care about any of the older partygoers, it was still tolerable and his mother was always happy with a good night of schmoozing. It was easy, until it wasn't, and then it really wasn't.
ㅤHe was at the point that he didn't really feel like he did much of anything right for his mom's preferences and her position in society. She was campaigning and her perfect son was a mess despite all of his pretending otherwise, and he honestly wasn't sure he could keep up the charade forever. He felt like he was fraying at the edges, or maybe way past the edges and he was just desperately trying to keep any of these awful people from noticing. The balcony seemed like the best route to attempt catching a moment to brace himself for the next round, so he was understandably a little surprised to find someone out there already when the party was in full swing inside. It was less surprising when it struck him that he was interrupting some poor server's much-needed smoke break like some kind of asshole, but Molly pushed back into full surprise.
ㅤ"If you flag someone down from in there, I'm taking my chances with maybe breaking a leg going over this railing, don't test me," he quipped like it was the most natural thing, making the decision right then to step up to the little half-wall in question. If she'd wanted him to go away, he figured she wouldn't have said he was stuck with her, so he'd take it. He was close enough that the cigarette smoke would likely cling to his clothes, but he didn't exactly care right then as he took in the quiet outside of the party and picked idly at the corner of the bandage on his hand. The way it was turned up a little, he'd clearly been doing it all night with the remaining fingers on that hand, but this was the first time he had full access to it with his other hand. He tilted to look down, considering. "I think I could make it, what do you think?"

[ CHALLENGE ]: sender challenges the receiver to a sparring match/actual fight.
𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆/𝐅𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐈𝐆. accepting
their meeting was one of fate . not having much to speak on . it was the looks upon each others weaponry that sparked the interaction . first it was an exchanged glance , then it led to a stare . each having auras to their katanas like no other ⸻ it was only time before questions flew .
it had been on the moment they locked eyes that day . the challenge was issued . it was silent but there . the female didn’t need the social prose explained in detail . childhood somewhat made her accustomed to this one . history be damned . ever apathy laid on pale features as the other seemingly prepared for a move . they had taken this to the deck of Sunny .
three . they hung at his side . pulsating . celestial hues watched as hands ghosted hilts . the female , however , had yet to reach for her own weaponry . it laid on back , strapped and waiting . no words had been exchanged as of yet , this was normal for the female . yet , something probing to confirm the others desires in a spar made for a breach of their stagnant interaction .

" i still don't understand how seeing some underground band play is supposedly a matter of life or death. " dawn muttered, as she dragged her feet along the sidewalk, frown etched firmly onto her features and hands curled up to fists in order to ward of the cold. it was february in new york city after all, not the warmest climate and maybe she should have worn a warmer coat. jonnie, however, seemed unbothered as he lead her to some bar she'd never heard of. the promise, as he'd revealed once she had agreed on coming along, was a band with an absolutely insane drummer. whether he'd meant insanely good or bad ? she truly couldn't tell. " you're aware i'm not a talent scout, right ? shouldn't you be taking somebody else to this ? " maybe she'd been grumbling ever since they'd left the revolution office but she really couldn't understand why they'd have to go watch someone else drum so badly. they were both drummers themselves, after all. pretty decent ones, if she said so herself.
