and finished my rent letter letter (and copy) to Mr. Parker to go in Lord Stuarts’ frank tomorrow – lay down in my dressing gown not even taking my gaiters off, at 4 35/.. this morning and slept till near 8 when Gross called us – A- low and would have worried me with it had I attended Miss Lloyd came at 9 and I got up and was ready for her in 5 or 6 minutes – she thought I had changed my mind, and had promised taken other work and could not get my dress done before Wednesday – she saw from my manner that I had no idea of anything but mistake – not dressed yesterday – out too late to go to her yesterday – to embark on Thursday – will try on my dress on Monday morning and let me have it early on Tuesday evening breakfast at 10 ½ A- and I having Falconer to dress our hair – Damp morning rainy till after 10 – F61° at 10 ½ am in my dressing room – breakfast over and had written the above of this morning at 11 ¼ - time to be off – Gross has been about the passport – no difficulty – only the names of the servants wanted to be added – all signed for ourselves – and all will be ready for noon today – the carriage came about 11 20/.. – A- and I drove off to Richmond Park at 11 50/.. – drove thro’ Richmond to Twickenham – stopped at the P.O. to inquire the address of Mrs. Manners quondam Louisa de Noé who married her cousin Captain M- R.N. gone to Paris about a fortnight ago for 5 or 6 weeks – Mrs. Sneyd dead – the M-s have left Twickenham, and, on their return go to Tunbridge wells – where they now have ‘a beautiful house’ – the civil woman seemed to know all about them – then drove direct by the Star and garter Inn to Lady S- took the turn down to the right near the little bridge (after passing what used to be old Lady Pembrokes’ now Lord Errol I think) and thus went 10 minutes out of our way – at the Lodge Lady S-‘s at 2 – found she had expected us earlier – very feeble, and out of sorts about her teeth, and low about them but our arrival seemed to amuse and cheer her up – A- strolled in the garden – I sat with Lady S- then she wheeled about in the garden – then A- still [runned] out and I with Lady S- till luncheon about (after) 3 – then all sat Lady S- writing I reading to her her great nephew Bertie Gordon’s letter that I had brought in a packet put into the carriage as we drove off from Lord Stuarts with a note from Lady S- de R- who could not drive over – had tried to bring Miss Tate but miss T- going early next week to her place Langdown near Southampton – A- looked over views etc. in Italy and I must amused with Miss Parodes’ Constantinople views and text 3nos. 4to difficult to get admission to the mosques – the ambassadors only get it once during their stay – and all the rest but great people disappointed – this must be seen about – dinner at 7 – very nice – coffee soon after 8 – some chance of Lady S- coming to us tomorrow to dinner to stay a couple of nights about her teeth – left them and a note myself (stopt in the carriage at the door in Maddox street on our return at 11pm) at Mr. Nasmiths’ the fashionable dentist – off from Lady S- at 9 ½ and home at 11 10/.. – brought a large bouquet of flowers – pother in putting them into one of the vases on the chimney piece, and then (the vase losing not holding water) taking them out again – Grotza always slowish – not in bed till 12 ¾ - finish day tho’ gloomy at times and threatening rain – found on our table Lady Mexborough and Lady Sarah Savilles’ card – and Banking book (very nice natty morocco pocket book) and vouchers from Hammersley and Passport all right from Lord Stuart it had been enclosed to him the cover being merely turned inside out and redirected by himself

When NOT to Use SEO

A large part of our business is conducting professional Search Engine Optimization services for small and medium-sized businesses. So you might be surprised to learn that we talk ourselves out of more SEO projects than not. Or, more accurately, we talk our clients out of doing SEO.

Many people see, hear and read about various SEO success stories from friends, colleagues and business associates and think, "Hey, sounds great. How can I use that for MY business?"

The problem with SEO, probably more than any other Internet marketing tactic, is that it's often the wrong tool for the job. No matter how bad you WANT it to be the answer to your problems and help you increase sales it's just not not going to cut it.

sSo to help you evaluate whether SEO can be part of your well-rounded Internet marketing strategy, here's 5 reasons why SEO will NOT help you"

1. You Have a Made Up Product: The whole foundation of SEO is to position your webpages to be the answer to the question regarding relevant searches. If the product or service you offer is something so unique or made up, you can't leverage SEO for the simple reason that nobody knows to search for it. Case in point was a company that came to us to implement an SEO program for "Dog Wine." The problem is two-fold: Wine is actually bad for your dog so nobody would be looking for those keywords together unless maybe it was for "Dog wine poisoning." Secondly, the product wasn't actually wine at all but a type of gravy commonly sold to spruce up kibble. So while the product was real and perfectly OK to feed your dog, the association between the made up product category (dog wine) and the actual product (a kibble additive commonly referred to as "dog gravy") was beyond the scope of SEO. A better marketing solution that we suggested was a trade PR campaign combined with blogger reviews since the product needed explaining in order to "get it."

2. Low Search Volume: The biggest issue we find is that the keyword phrases associated with the company's products and services are in low demand. Nobody wants to hear that what they're selling is not in demand or the greatest thing since sliced bread. SEO exposes weaknesses in branding and product positioning. Sometimes SEO is considered a panacea for a weak product offering or non-existing branding campaign. SEO can't perform magic, and certainly can not create demand where little or none exists. SEO works best when you have a product or service with well-articulated BENEFITS to the person doing the search, since most searches start with "How do I... " or "How to... " Be the answer to that question assuming it's even being asked. Our keyword research will expose those weaknesses right away.

3. No Supporting Efforts: Search Engine Optimization has become increasingly complex in that one-time efforts, while still important, aren't enough to sustain any short term success. And with the rising importance of social media's impact on SEO, businesses will need to invest in ongoing social media efforts to boost their baseline SEO results since all the major search engines have gone on record that social media signals going in and out of a website are a validation of that site's authorityon a particular subject (and set of keywords). So to invest in SEO is really a baseline step that needs to be reinforced with social media marketing and content marketing and blogging on an ongoing basis.

4. Website Design is Not Set Up For SEO: While a website's layout can be changed, this can often lead to additional costs in order to change the layout of the website to make it SEO ready. For instance, the number one problem is when all products and services are listed on a single page. In order to perform proper SEO, each product or service must have it's own page since proper onsite SEO requires unique META tags, Title tags, keywords, etc. Another hurdle is when clients have Flash-heavy websites or resist placing actual text and words on the site preferring mostly pictures. SEO is about content, mainly text.

5. Need Results Immediately: And as you probably suspect, SEO can take time to take effect. In fact, the very nature of GOOD SEO practices is to try and mimic organic linking and social media activity in as natural means as possible. That means slowly, and gradually. And even then, it can take the search engines weeks and even months to index your site and move it up in the rankings - if at all! So if you have a special event or you're planning a product roll out or other timely event, SEO isn't going to be your ticket to the top.

Hey Ontario! There is an election coming up on June 7th, 2018. According to the polls, the only party who has enough momentum to beat the Ontario PC’s run by Doug Ford is the Ontario NDP (in polls they’re either tied, in 1st place or in 2nd place in the polls). Doug Ford has no platform and has pledged to cut billions of dollars (which is going to lead to cuts to healthcare, education, etc) and he opposes things like a $15/hour minimum wage. I know people want change and are sick of the Liberals, but he’s not a good leader.

up at 6 1/4 – toothache all the night – took out the gold Lemaire put in in Paris, and got into bed again till 8 1/4 – then up for a little while cramped on the pot and lay on the bed till 9 1/4 – then cut toenails nice kind letter 3 pages from Miss Hobart Richmond park the ends and under the seal very kind by Lady S– (Stuart) very rainy morning till 10 – Fahrenheit 71 1/2° at 11 40/'' at which hour breakfast – asleep – writing – Mr William Priestley called at 2 3/4 and staid 3/4 hour – he and Mrs P– (Priestley) arrived last night – came up to my room again at 3 3/4 – wrote 3 pages and the ends and under the seal to Lady S– (Stuart) – the first two and a half pages with the addition of an account of the salt mines – nearly the same as what I wrote on Thursday saying at the end of this that I had just received Veres letter – told Lady S– (Stuart) that, on finding Mrs Lawton prevented being at Leamington, and begged us to transfer our visit to Lawton, 80 miles farther on one road, I wrote a little note to Lady Eastnor, enclosing Lady S–’s (Stuart’s), and regretting the unexpected shortness of my stay at Leamington and were off the next morning and reached L– (Lawton) to dinner –

“It was a mere coup d’œil I had of Leamington, but it really seemed to me an exceedingly comfortable, wholesome, agreeable place; and I could not help wishing that the air was thought good for you and Vere, and that we were all there – there are apartments and cottages of all sorts, – of all degrees of comfort and cost – the criers-up of Dr Jephson, too, maintain, that his fame began with the cure of lungs – I have thought a great deal of you and all your anxieties, and really share them more deeply than perhaps you think” etc etc have had no time to think more of my own plans since I saw you – ….“we were four days at Lawton – one of them was spent in going to see the famous rock-salt mines of Firth and Worthington at Northwich – we were let down in buckets to the depth of 336 feet – the excavations forming enormous halls and galleries, many of them above 30 feet high, cover upwards of 40 acres – It would be difficult to imagine a scene like this – there is really something magic in the brilliance of the crystallizations that sparkle in the walls and the enormous pillars that support the glittering roof which seems everywhere done in large regular patterns as if mosaic, singular and beautiful effect of the various intersections of the different crystals – the salt-impregnated air seemed rather agreeable than otherwise – no dampcellarish feeling as in other mines – at last we came to the workmen, only 30 now employed – such the order that prevailed among them, scarce a word was uttered, and the sound of our own voices was lost amid the trampling of horses, the clatter of rail roads and the reverberated thunder of the beast” –

Back at 5 1/4 – found Mrs Hencage daughter to poor Lord Graves sitting with V– (Vere) and Charles Stuart – upstairs packing etc near 1/2 hour – V– (Vere) came to me for a few minutes gave her my letter (3 pages 1/2 sheet) I had written in the morning to Madame de Hagemann – merrily giving a pretty good account of Vere and saying how and when we reached London – took my leave promising then another visit and off at 6 – 20 minutes in the park, then 10 minutes in a pretty lane before getting into the high road at 6 1/2 – passed over Hammersmith suspension bridge – very handsome – done in 1824 – called en passant at no. 26 Dover Street, Hawkins, the hotel recommended by Lady S– (Stuart) and where she was last winter herself and V– (Vere) and 2 maids and 2 men – 14/. a week changed for the waiter + 9/. a week for the chambermaid – the bill seemed to be about £21 a week not including the 2 men who, I suppose, had board wages – the rooms were about £5? a week – left my name saying I should probably be back in August and would write for rooms for myself and man and maid –

home at 7 1/2 – found my aunt at dinner – sent off Lady S–‘s (Stuart’s) note to her apothecary Mr Freeman spring gardens? no. 26 – He will call on me (according to Lady S–‘s (Stuart’s) request) this evening – he came about 10, and staid an hour – said, which he said he had no idea of but seemed much flattered, that Lady S– (Stuart) and Miss H– (Hobart) had more confidence in him than anyone and that he would be the one to decide what should be done – I understood he was of opinion that no change of climate would be necessary – I was glad his opinion was so favourable but I myself could help seeing with alarm the great likeness between Miss H–‘s (Hobart’s) case at present and poor Miss Mac L–‘s (MacLean’s) 2 years ago – but for having seen so much of Miss Mac L– (MacLean) – perhaps I might have been as litle alarmed as others but as it was I was really very anxious and uneasy – Mr Freeman then confused that the case had been very serious and that tho’ much had been gained he was not quite so sanguine as I supposed but that he thought it would be of such bad consequence to recommend going abroad just now, as it was not necessary to say anything about it for a couple of months to come, it would do so much harm by frightening Lady S– (Stuart) and Miss H– (Hobart) that he was quite averse to naming it – besides he did not know Miss H– (Hobart) circumstances – he thought it would be impossible to separate her from Lady S– (Stuart) and her ladyship’s being with her would more than counterbalance any good to be expected from change of climate – were the little bit of quiet she had had lately (at Lady Buckinghamshire’s Eastcombe) had done a great deal for her – but that whatever might be your opinion they (Dr Clark and he) did not wish to give it just now – on this, I said at once, that his reasons were so strong I was quite convinced he was right, but that I saw thro’ them plainly enough that going abroad would be if not absolutely necessary, yet highly desirable, if it could be managed without Lady S–‘s (Stuart’s) going – “yes! certainly” very well then, said I, I can surely say, I myself will take Miss H– (Hobart) to any part of Italy, or wherever you and Dr Clark think most advisable, and I am sure Lady Stuart de R– (Rothesay) will manage the thing when she comes over – only say all to her you have said to me, and I shall be satisfied – said I had just written to her and it was uncertain whether I should write soon again or not – to old Lady S– (Stuart) I would only say, that it was impossible to say anything very decided just yet, as all seemed going on well, and you must wait to see how things continued – I begged to make him aware, that Lady S– (Stuart) de R– (Rothesay) had a prejudice in favour of Genoa, on account of being near Mrs Foster, but I myself thought this not the place most likely to be of service – however my whole anxiety was for Miss H– (Hobart) and if they would give me as much notice as they could, I would really go anywhere – He thought it would be best for him and Dr James? Clark to consult together and to consult also the brother, Dr Charles? Clark, who had been so much abroad and written on climate etc, as to the locality to be preferred – he promised to see and say all this to Lady S– (Stuart) de R– (Rothesay) and asked for my address (which I gave him at Shibden) in case of having any communication to make to me on the subject – talked a little about the impudent quackeries of Mr St. John Long, and Mr Freeman, really a sensible sort of mild mannered person, took his leave – having said on coming in that a lady was waiting for him, he must have liked his visit, or would not have made it so long –

How will it end? Poor dear Vere! I sigh to think of the bare possibility of losing her – Poor dear Sibbella! how well that she was spared any anticipation of all this – paying bills – wrote kind litle note of Marseilles figs (4 lbs) for Lady S– (Stuart) then wrote note to Lady S– (Stuart) (vide line 13 of this page) according to what was agreed upon with Mr Freeman adding that I was very pleased with him and felt quite confident in his doing all that was necessary – very fine day –
