Warm congratulations to director Christopher Nolan and his cast and crew of geniuses for the artistic triumph of "Oppenheimer"! Special thanks to costume designer Ellen Mirojnick for her masterful eye and diligence in fitting each character in the movie with a correct vintage watch. Artists such as Mr. Nolan and Ms. Mirojnick are committed to perfection, and when it comes to historic sartorial splendor and cultural accuracy, they recognize making certain a character has an appropriate vintage wrist or pocket watch is vital. Timepieces were and are reflections, not just of time but fashion and civility.

Two months later Mr. Stewart was drafted and assigned to the Army Air Corps. On June 10 of that same year, Ms. Lamarr submitted a patent for “Radio Frequency Hopping” a system upon which all modern communication is based.

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall had one of the most legendary romances in Hollywood history. Together, they made four films and had two children. In 1982, Bertie Higgins penned a song, "Key Largo," based on their love story. Both loved wearing timepieces. #humphreybogart #LaurenBacall #bogeyandbacall #bogartandbacall #oldhollywood #vintagehollywood #1940sfashion #1940swatches
