Seb's retiring from F1 nearly ten years to the day Michael did;
Michael's final race was the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix on November 25th, the same race Seb became a world champion for the third time after an incredible recovery drive. Seb's final race is set to be the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 20th.

These two more than anyone were my heroes in this sport. They were the first drivers I ever supported, they're the drivers my family supported, the way they can drive... I'll always hold them up as my goats. It feels like I've watched at least one of them race for what feels like forever and in a way it was. Maybe it still is as we still have a Schumacher on the grid. Mick is doing a brilliant job and is one of the drivers proving that F1 is safe in the hands of the next generation.
It's going to be weird to look at the grid without Seb on it. Maybe weird isn't a strong enough word for it. For so long he's always been my driver, and in a way he always will be, but now he won't be racing anymore. I've seen many drivers come and go over the years, I've seen the drivers that I've liked since I was a kid step away like Jenson and Kimi but this one hits a little harder. It really feels like the end of an era and it is and that's okay (I say as if I didn't have to put my phone down to compose myself after hearing him say he was retiring lmao). Moments and eras sadly end but that's what makes them golden in the end.
I've always seen Michael letting Sebastian overtake him in his last race as the passing of the torch from one era and generation of drivers to the next. Sebastian had already achieved the position he needed to win the wdc again and Michael simply waved him on through, essentially changing the guard, passing the torch from one era of drivers to the next. Seb's decided it's now his turn to do the same and pass the torch on firmly to the next generation, who are already making waves and placing themselves amongst the greats. It's bittersweet and that's ok.
What Sebastian achieved with Red bull was no small feat, in general we don't talk about that incredible four in a row was and is. Those are the days I remember most vividly, but I swear to me they were always golden. In general however, we don't talk about everything Sebastian on his own has achieved enough. He's equaled and broken so many records and sadly it won't be until after he's gone that people will appreciate his incredible career, trust me I've seen this film many times before. I'll miss him on the grid. I hope probably against all hope we'll see him on the podium at least one more time before the chequered flag at Abu Dhabi (or even at Abu Dhabi but historically any time a driver I like retires from F1 they tend not to finish their last race so I'm being realistic lmao like Michael's race ended because his engine literally broke the first time he retired, Jenson dnf and then got promptly hammered lmao and then Kimi dnf last year, I'm manifesting him finishing his final race but there's precedent for drivers I like not doing that sadly lmao), he deserves at least one more champagne shower.
