IRL Sixsona Designs Pt. 2: Makeup Edition
Hey y'all! This is second in a series of a few extra sixsona posts that @lightleckrereins and I are doing this week. The first post is here, showing the real-life vinyl inspirations we used!
This time around, I'm doing yet another hypothetical: what makeup would be used for each sixsona design!!
My list of makeup recommendations for Six cosplayers is probably the post I'm second-most proud of (after sixsonas ofc). When I was initially working on that I kept seeing makeup that would be perfect for some of our sixsona designs, so because I have absolutely zero chill of course I had to figure out the full makeup plots for each.
The basic rules were
- one glitter
- one eyeshadow palette
- and two additional products to fill in any gaps, as needed (this included fun stuff like an extra glitter or liquid liner, but also practical things like additional eyeshadow shades when needed or a liquid base for more sheer colors)
White (swing): Colourpop palette in Cloud 9, NYX Metallic Glitter in Lumi-Lite, Danessa Myricks Colorfix Matte in Lift, Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeliner in Pyro
Yellow (A/B): Nicka K Pop Neon Palette in Oh Honey, With Love Pressed Glitter in Pineapple, MAC Dazzleshadow in It's All About Shine, Glisten Cosmetics wet liner in Bananas
Cream (A/S): Beauty Bay (42), NYX Ultimate Glow Shots in Come Thru Coconut, Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in 3rd St, Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in In Harmony
Bronze (A/C): BPerfect Cosmetics in Compass of Creativity North Skintones, Lemonhead Spacepaste in Dirty Penny, Haus Labs Hy-Power Pigment Paint in Copper Shimmer, MAC Dazzleshadow Extreme in Objet D' Art
Mint (B/S): Nicka K Pop Neon Palette in Lucky Charm, With Love Pressed Glitter in Mint, Haus Labs Hy-Power Pigment Paint in Mint Matte, Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Life Coach
Coral (B/H): Kimchi Chic Palette in Citrus Queen, Slayfire Cosmetics in Peaches & Scream, Danessa Myricks Colorfix Matte in Phoenix, Glisten Cosmetics wet liner in Rose Quartz
Emerald/peacock (B/P): Cozzette Beauty Palette in Blue-Green, Designer Dust Co in Water Country Flakes, Danessa Myricks Colorfix Metallics in Firework, MAC Eye Shadow in Carbon
Amber (S/C): Colourpop in Rock On, Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Flakes in Hot Lava, Danessa Myricks Colorfix Liquid Metals in Hot Fire, Lemonhead Spacejam in Rainbow Road
Peach (S/H): Colourpop in Sweet Talk, Lemonhead Spacepaste in Mulholland, MAC Dazzleshadow Extreme in Kiss of Klimt, MAC Eye Shadow in Shell
Light blue (S/P): Colourpop in Blue Velvet, Designer Dust Co in Carolina Bae Micro, Danessa Myricks Colorfix Foils in Mermaid, Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Ice Dream
Magenta (C/H): Beauty Bay in Berries (16), Designer Dust Co in Bubblegum Bae Micro, Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Roy G. Biv, MAC Eye Shadow in If It Ain't Baroque
Maroon (C/P): Juvia's Place in The Berries, Lemonhead Spacepaste in Wine Safari, MAC Pigment in Gold, Glisten Cosmetics wet liner in Bloody Mary
Lavender (H/P): Juvia's Place in The Violets, Barry M Biodegradable Body Glitter in Hypnotic, MAC Dazzleshadow in It's All About Shine, Glisten Cosmetics wet liner in Amethyst
Some credit info: Designs for white, yellow, cream, mint, amber, peach, magenta, maroon, lavender + all sixsona art featured here by @lightleckrereins. Original designs for bronze, coral, emerald/peacock, and light blue are mine. I did most of the sourcing work for the makeup, but Sofia created the inspiration + made final decisions on the makeup for all her designs.

IRL Sixsona Designs Pt. 3: Boots Edition
Hey y'all! This is the third in a series of a few extra sixsona posts that @lightleckrereins and I are doing this week. Previous posts have been showing the real-life vinyl inspirations we used in our designs + showing the makeup plots we came up with!
For part three, we're doing the crystal colors we'd use for the boots! Designing the boots was always one of my favorite parts of the sixsona dessigns - I made each embellishment pattern based on existing crystal colors. I've worked with crystal embellishment for theatrical costumes a fair bit in my life, so it's really fun to apply that irl skill to this!
As a general rule of thumb, we tried to stick to some of Six's pre-existing styles, embellishment patterns, and methods. We did only use one specific Swarovski color chart, but the UK productions and their wonderful embellisher (@/crystalledbyjane) have actually been switching some designs to Preciosa due to supply changes.
White (swing): Jet, Crystal Light Chrome, Crystal
Yellow (A/B): Jonquil, Golden Topaz, Crystal
Cream (A/S): Jonquil, Silk, Jet
Bronze (A/C): Light Amber, Light Colorado Topaz, Jet
Mint (B/S): Peridot Shimmer, Light Turquoise, Crystal
Coral (B/H): Padparadscha, Rose, Jet
Emerald/peacock (B/P): Emerald Nightfall, Capri Blue Nightfall, Jet
Amber (S/C): Smoked Amber, Jet, Crystal
Peach (S/H): Blush Rose, Light Peach, Crystal AB
Light blue (S/P): Denim Blue, Light Sapphire, Jet
Magenta (C/H): Light Siam Shimmer, Light Rose Shimmer, Crystal AB
Maroon (C/P): Crystal Volcano, Crystal
Lavender (H/P): Tanzanite, Provence, Crystal
Some credit info: Designs for white, yellow, cream, mint, amber, peach, magenta, maroon, lavender + all art featured here is by @lightleckrereins. Original designs for bronze, coral, emerald/peacock, and light blue are mine. We each created our patterns and chose the crystal colours for our respective designs.

Guess what's back! I was finally able to complete my sixsona backlog so lets do a few days of catchup. Alyssa Giannetti and Aubrey Matalon in the Aragon and Boleyn variations of peach. Got to finish all the sizes for this top which is one of my favorite things in this project as you can see how a design could look on different bodytypes.

More sixsona updates! This time, some new variations for pink alt. All design credit goes to @lightleckrereins as these are the variations originally designed for the dress-up game. Left is Cleves on Zara MacIntosh, while right is the infamous pink Parr on Roxanne Couch.
And that brings the year 2 chart up to...
So close to the end! As always, B/H, B/P, and S/P were drawn and designed by me, while all others (and many base graphics) were done by Sofía

Sixsona update. Some of my favorite variations for one of my favorite designs. Cecilia Snow and Bethany McDonald in the Aragon and Parr variations of amber. When it comes to open skirts I usually go through multiple designs until I am happy with it and this one in particular was a major challenge. But the final design feels very right. Also a small update for the Aragon crown that will start showing up in future designs.

Alright, next sixsona update: Boleyn and Cleves variations for Boleyn/Parr.
Boleyn is on Kate Zulauf (rehearsal alt B/S/H, Breakaway 5.0). While the original design was intended as a more generic variation that could work for both Boleyn and Parr, I always really wanted to make a Boleyn skirt for it. When we decided to do a second year with additional variations, it was a no-brainer to add a Boleyn skirt for this one.
Cleves is made for Ayla Ciccone-Burton (alt B/C/P, Broadway). I'd wanted to see a B/C/P alt for a while and was pretty excited when she was announced as such. That original/base variation was made partially with her in mind, and with the shorts specifically designed so they could work for a future Cleves variation.
Quick shoutout to @lightleckrereins for this one; as well as making the base art/files that we both use and always adding the studs, she gave me some additional help when I was getting frustrated with some of my work on these.
And that brings our total up to:
B/P and S/P are mine, the rest are Sofia's.

Sixsona update with Jaelle Laguerre and Kayla McSorley in the Aragon and Boleyn variations of maroon. I was looking forward to this one in particular for most of the year as dark colors have an unique challenge when balancing cutouts but I am really happy with the results.

Sixsona update. This time with variations to the design that started it all. Chelsea Lorraine Wargo and Shantel Cribbs in the Boleyn and Cleves variations of the yellow design. Boleyn is pretty much unchanged from my original design for it (not that there is much room to change things in a Boleyn variation) but Cleves is a complete redesign that I am very happy with.

New sixsonas to add to the avalanche being posted this week ( @lightleckrereins is a powerhouse with all hers). This one is new variations for Seymour/Parr.
For year 1, our sixsona designs had a base design/general variation intended to be used for both primary covers that could work equally well. For my S/P design, that was pants with a peplum, similar to how orange and teal alt use pants with peplum for a general variation. But I had always wanted to give this one a Seymour skirt as well and it was always designed with that possibility in mind. When Sofia suggested we do a second year with additional variations, I immediately started planning for this skirt. Here it was designed for Jasmine M Smith (S/P rehearsal alt for Bliss 5.0).
I also did a Howard skirt! The base design was partially made with Ellie Sharpe in mind since she’s the most prolific S/H/P cover, so again with this second year/new variations she was a no brainer for this H skirt to round out her covers.
And that brings the current chart to…

Finally time for one of my favorite activities: designing missing alt variations. Aside from the main design orange only has Cleves, but since it was designed for Aragon that skirt is an obvious next addition. So Hana Stewart and Ella Burns orange Aragon and Cleves. As usual with alt designs I updated some details to the current version of a costume (or in this case what I think the current version would be).

New sixsona update! Guess who edited that top again (just the center panel but still) and finally have nothing against it. Eden Holmes and Lois Ellis Reeves in the Howard and Parr variations of cream. There is something about this variations that finally made this design click and I am incredibly glad it did. And a new detail in the full chart I added B/H chokers to everyone who didn't have it already in those variations because that is a very important detail we were missing.

First alt costumes for the sixsona year 2 chart. Teal has some of the best variations out there and and it was a challenge to just select two (mostly because teal got B/S/H at the same time and in multiple iterations but P is now the main version). So Jennifer Caldwell in her Howard variation and Paisley Billings in Parr. Just like last year I gave Jen some small changes to match the uptdated costumes but kept most details specific to her costume. Also I really like how this shows the differences between original and updated versions.
