had been talking about how odo's betrayal in favor the bold/sacrifice of angels (and the possibility that he condemned other bajorans to death who didn't do what they were accused of besides the group in things past and just never became aware of it) isn't really ever addressed and kira is APPARENTLY willing to look past it/ignore it bc of her affection for him is an interesting/compelling point of hypocrisy But. god its far and away so much more a believable wrinkle in her character than whatever shit they would've pulled to make her and dukat happen. would've been straight up character assassination

surprising (?) that they never really made anything of kira's pregnancy and odo being a solid happening at nearly the same time since They're Supposed To Be Like Close Friends and both involve a massive, unprecedented, and At Least Surprising if not unwelcome/horrific change to each's respective body

really easy to see why so many people think kira's a lesbian lol. can we get ONE guy she shows active interest in rather than reciprocating when shown interest and going 'well i did think that was just respect/friendship i was feeling but i guess not!'

btw the opener on that w kira using odo as Fake Boyfriend Cover did bolster my current thoughts of 'she doesn't think of him romantically/what have you at all but does trust him and think of him as a safe person Despite The Everything, and he has nebulous feelings that might be a crush and might not be but he's too inexperienced with both romance/sex and close friendship to really name it'

i think that kira looking mildly uncomfortable while everyone was talking about odo sleeping with someone else IN THE MIDDLE OF OPS (lol) was the first potential evidence i can think of of her possibly thinking of him that way

bitching about how KIRA is written in it aside i don't dislike this storyline so far. having a fundamentally lonely character with little experience w close relationships generally develop romantic feelings for The Only Friend they're close enough to to confide that sort of thing in (and deal with it, understandably, poorly) is compelling enough as is

heart of stone was an okay episode i really liked the line about o'brien singing while doing the rafting holoprograms with odo 'ancient sea shanties, his favorite is something called louie louie'

#p #ds9 #i watched like 6 episodes yesterday and stayed up TOO LATE #beginning to feel less open to kiraodo bc in that one he said what id already been thinking like it's some sort of tragedy #i e. that she considers him one of her closest friends/loves him platonically but doesn't return Feelings #is the situation painful for him? sure but it's not a problem to be solved. if he TOLD her & they talked it out theyd get closer either way #btw this less openness is almost entirely bc of the framing and the fact that it doesn't ACTUALLY show us kiras thoughts AT ALL #4.6.20 hate tag

now that ive seen like a Little bit more stuff hinting at kiraodo i can see why people are skeptical of it from kira's side. like the backstory/noir ep did give me the impression that odo might have romantic feelings that he's keeping to himself and/or doesn't know how to parse but i haven't got the same one abt kira (just that she cares about him and has grown to really trust him over the years despite understandable reservations bc of his job)
