2023.5.20 Inspiration in Belgium
In the middle of May my friend and I decided to visit Belgium, The next morning when we were having our early McDonald's, it suddenly started to rain heavily outside and unfortunately neither of us had an umbrella with us. So we put the McDonald's takeaway bags over our heads to protect us from the rain. It was a novel experience as I hadn't put thebag over my head before, and although only my head was covered, it was as if I was trappedin another world, quiet and dark; an act that has inspired me a little for my third term project.
inspiration:
The main theme of last term's project was about aesthetic obscuration and aesthetic homogenisation, and the 'takeaway bag' over the head was a form of obscuration, so perhaps I could make an interactive installation like this with the head covered to express the feeling of obscuration, and let the audience enter the installation to experience it. Maybe later I'll do something with the inside of the bag, some light or sound to assist the obscuration feeling.
