This Is How You Lose The Time War and The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August feel like two sides of the same coin
What if you were my enemy in countless lives, travelling through time, and the only way to escape the endless war would be to love you and kiss you
What if you were my friend, and my enemy, and still my friend in countless lives, travelling through time, and the only way to stop the end of the world would be to love you and kill you

Welcome to the HOT AND VINTAGE MOVIE STARS bracket! we are currently voting on the HOTTEST and VINTAGEST male movie stars from 1910-1970. (we will do the ladies next.) Submissions for hot vintage men are now closed, but we are accepting propaganda for those already in the bracket.
Round 3 of the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament will be posted Saturday, January 20th, with some spillover to Sunday, and will last a week. All the round 3 polls can be found and voted on under the tag #round 3. All polls—including previous rounds, the now-finished shadow bracket of hot men who didn’t pass round 1, plus fun mini polls—can be found in the #hotvintagepoll tag. Every poll in the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament is tagged with the hot man in it if you need to search for a hot man in particular.
Between rounds—so any point up to the night of Thursday the 18th—any propaganda for a round 3 contestant sent to my asks may be added to the poll descriptions. I accept video links, photos, and text propaganda, but not gifs at this stage (I can’t copy them into the posts without problems). Once rounds start, any propaganda sent in is posted as its own separate post, searchable under the hot man's tag.
FAQs:
"Where is [my favorite hot man]?" It depends. Have you checked all the polls in the tag? Have you done a tag search for him? If you still haven't found him, either nobody submitted him or he did not fit the criteria of being a movie man from 1910-1970.
"Can I still submit hot men?" No, the submission window has closed. Please do not send in men you wish had made it into the bracket. I can't do anything with those asks and they just make me sad.
"I have hot women to submit!" Amazing! I've posted the submission form for that bracket. Asks submitting ladies don't count—you need to wait until the submission form. DO NOT tag me in hot lady propaganda yet! Do not send any to my asks! Anything that's not put in the submission form doesn't count at this stage.
"I have additional propaganda for the hot men!" Great! Send me an ask or reblog the poll and add your propaganda to it. I don't boost all the propaganda I see or receive, but I try to boost the best of the best.
If you're submitting propaganda for your hot man, I don't accept propaganda that's from beyond the end of this tournament's era (ie don't send me pics of them in the 70s onwards). I also don't accept them performing in TV shows unless it's clearly a cameo where they're playing themselves.
I don't post or boost negative propaganda about any hot man. If you really hate that a certain hot man is winning, send me positive propaganda for their hot opponent. If you think a hot man shouldn't even be included in the bracket because of scummy things they did in their lifetime, please read my take on it here.
If I see repetitive, trolling, and/or bigoted remarks in the comments, I may block you from this bracket. If you want to point out a hot man's flaws or misdemeanors, that's fine, but if I see consistent bad-faith trolling, you will be blocked.
"My FAQ isn't on here :(" send me an ask! I love hearing from you guys—just please check these basics first.
"WHERE ARE THE HOT MEN. I want to see all the hot men competing in one place!!" You can find all the round 1 matchups here (thank you @markwatnae!), and everyone who made it to round 3 below the cut. Thank you for being here! Enjoy the tournament.

highlights of June-December
Favourite movies: The Farmer's Daughter (1947), Oppenheimer (2023), The Bourne trilogy (2002-2007), Gojira -1.0 (2023).
Decent movies I liked / appreciated but not loved: Highlander (1986), From the Terrace (1960), Mary Poppins (1964), Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), If I Were King (1938), The Equalizer 3 (2023), No Way Out (1950), Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993).
wtf movie/ending: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) just because they ended it like an episode of a TV show rather than a part one of a movie. I knew it was part one and even I was sitting at the cinema confused once the credits rolled. Also, in the best way, They Won't Believe Me (1947). I was not expecting the film to end like that at all. AT ALL. Also, Caught (1949) has the most unsatisfying tonal shift in the end I probably have ever see. Up until that last few minutes, it was solid, dark, edgy even. Just the way I like my noirs to be. And then the resolution and it is just…. huh?
Best scenes: the Spider Men chase scene in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023); Alfred leaving Mary for good in From the Terrace (1960); the finale in They Won't Believe Me (1947); father's final walk to work in Mary Poppins (1964); the bomb / 'You will remember this day' in Oppenheimer (2023); saying goodbye to the 'daughter' in Gojira -1.0 (2023); the garage confrontation in Caught (1949).
Favourite genres: action, adventure, drama.
Favourite directors: Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer, 2023); Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, 2023); Robert Stevenson (Mary Poppins, 1964); Paul Greengrass (The Bourne trilogy, 2002-2007); Joseph L. Mankiewicz (No Way Out, 1950); Takashi Yamazaki (Gojira -1.0, 2023); Mel Brooks (Robin Hood: Men in Tights, 1993); Sidney Lanfield (The Hound of the Baskervilles, 1939).
Favourite actors: Robert Cummings (The Lost Moment, 1947), Susan Hayward (The Lost Moment, 1947 and They Won't Believe Me, 1947); Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward (From the Terrace, 1960); Ethel Barrymore, Loretta Young, Joseph Cotten (The Farmer's Daughter, 1947); Robert Young (They Won't Believe Me, 1947); Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, 2023); Matt Damon (The Bourne trilogy, 2002-2007); Ronald Colman (If I Were King, 1938); Denzel Washington (The Equalizer 3, 2023); Sidney Poitier, Linda Darnell, Richard Widmark (No Way Out, 1950); Cary Elwes (Robin Hood: Men in Tights, 1993); Bob Hope (The Ghost Breakers, 1940); James Mason, Barbara Bel Geddes, Robert Ryan (Caught, 1949); Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe (Gojira -1.0, 2023); Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer, 2023); Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns (Mary Poppins, 1964). (Dick Van Dyke is an international treasure, I absolutely love this sweet, sweet man!)
Least favourite performances: anyone in Angels Over Broadway (1940) is pretty forgettable, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in particular. I did not like Nine 1/2 Weeks (1986), so it might be affecting my perception of Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger's performances as I know both of them are more than capable performers. George Sanders is pretty bland in The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry (1945). Vincent Cassel is bizzare in La belle et la bête (2014).
The most wasted cast: I don't think there is any particular cast that was wasted this time around. I didn't enjoy Angels Over Broadway (1940), so might be this one.
The best wasted premise: The Lost Moment (1947). It's not a bad film, but way too rushed. Had they taken more time, I think the film would have been much, much better.
Best premise: Highlander (1986); No Way Out (1950); Gojira -1.0 (2023).
Favourite cast: Oppenheimer (2023), hands down. Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Alden Ehrenreich, Scott Grimes, Jason Clarke, James D'Arcy, Kenneth Branagh, Tim DeKay, David Krumholtz, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Dane DeHaan, Josh Peck, Rami Malek, Casey Affleck, Gary Oldman. At one point I just started listing every actor I know who's popped up in this, it got crazy.
Favourite on-screen duos: Robert Cummings + Susan Hayward (The Lost Moment, 1947); Paul Newman + Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman + Ina Balin (From the Terrace, 1960); Loretta Young,+ Joseph Cotten, Ethel Barrymore with literally anyone (The Farmer's Daughter, 1947); Julie Andrews + Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins, 1964); Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, 2023); anyone in Oppenheimer (2023); James Mason, Barbara Bel Geddes (Caught, 1949); Bob Hope + Paulette Goddard (The Ghost Breakers, 1940).
Favourite on-screen relationships: my favourite is easily Larry Quinada and Leonora Eames from Caught (1949), but I have a few others. Alfred Eaton + Mary St. John (in a very toxic, unhealthy way) and Alfred Eaton + Natalie Benzinger (From the Terrace, 1960); Katrin Holstrom + Glenn Morley (The Farmer's Daughter, 1947); Bourne + Marie (The Bourne Identity, 2002 + The Bourne Ultimatum, 2004); Koichi Shikishima + Noriko Oishi (Gojira -1.0, 2023).
Favourite characters: Alfred Eaton, Mary St. John (From the Terrace, 1960); Mrs. Morley, Katrin Holstrom, Glenn Morley (The Farmer's Daughter, 1947); Jason Bourne (The Bourne trilogy, 2002-2007); Larry Ballentine (They Won't Believe Me, 1947); Mary Poppins, Bert (Mary Poppins, 1964); Ethan Hunt, Grace (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, 2023); J. Robert Oppenheimer, Lewis Strauss (Oppenheimer, 2023); Jason Bourne (The Bourne trilogy, 2002-2007); François Villon (If I Were King, 1938); Robert McCall (The Equalizer 3, 2023); Edie Johnson, Dr. Dan Wharton, Dr. Luther Brooks (No Way Out, 1950); Koichi Shikishima, Noriko Oishi (Gojira -1.0, 2023), Robin Hood (Robin Hood: Men in Tights, 1993); Larry Quinada, Leonora Eames, Smith Ohlrig (Caught, 1949).
Favourite quote: Let no one laugh at our absurd design, but pray to God that he forgives us all. (If I Were King, 1938). I also love this exchange in From the Terrace: Mary St. John: You've touched me deeply. Alfred Eaton: But not in the right places.
Favourite fact discovered in 2023: James Mason asked to play the good guy in Caught (1949) because he wanted a break from playing bad buys in British films. Gojira -1.0 (2023) was made on a 15-million-dollar budget. Effective filmmaking if I ever saw one. Oppenheimer (2023), a 3-hour biopic, made around a billion dollars at the box office.
The most overrated film: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023). It was fine, the animation is great, but there are a few too many stupid and slow moments. Nine 1/2 Weeks (1986) is terrible. No Way Out (1987) is okay, but I prefer the original anyway. Almost everything Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) is good except for the actual plot.
The most disappointing film: I didn't hold out much hope for any of these, so I wasn't disappointed.
The biggest surprise: Gojira -1.0 (2023).
Best cinematography: Hoyte Van Hoytema (Oppenheimer, 2023). Also, J. Peverell Marley (The Hound if the Baskervilles, 1939).
Best set design: Oppenheimer (2023). Also. I loved La belle et la bête (2014).
Best costume design: Pierre-Yves Gayraud La belle et la bête (2014).
Best music: I don't remember any. My guess is Oppenheimer (2023), but I can't remember any music from it either.
Best production choice: casting Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins, 1964); black-and-white sections (Oppenheimer, 2023), focusing on the human drama and survivor's guilt (Gojira -1.0, 2023)
Worst production choice: (randomly) killing Ilsa (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, 2023).
Film of the month(s): Oppenheimer (2023), Gojira -1.0 (2023).

I don't know if you already did this before but- what about the slashers reaction to a S/O that works as a tatoo artist?
I have not done this before, but this also reminded me I do need to update my masterlist so thank you. It’s the holiday weekend so we’ll see how well I can write…
-Fern🌿
Tattoo Artist S/O
Michael Myers
He would 100% let you tattoo him. Michael has probably always wanted a tattoo and just never had the means to get one. It’s hard to walk into a shop when you’re a wanted murderer after all. Plus, he most likely doesn’t trust other people enough to let them tattoo him. So feel special, cause it means he trusts you enough to take off his shirt and let you repeatedly poke him with a needle.
Michael respects tattooing as an art form. It takes a lot of dedication and precision to permanently place an image upon a persons skin.
He also just thinks it’s neat. Especially if you’ve done some of your own tattoos. He likes the way they look on your skin.
Probably has a weak spot for any red tattoos you have. We all know Michael loves the color red, especially on you.
Bo Sinclair
Again, would let you tattoo him but only after he trusts you enough. He can’t have you suddenly going rouge and trying to harm him with a tattoo gun. And lets be honest with ourselves here, Bo has trust issues so it’s going to take awhile.
He’s very indecisive about what he would want though. Luckily you know him well enough to come up with a few rough sketches of different ideas and placements just… pinky promise it will look good.
Also loves the tattoos on your own skin. Especially the more intricate ones with a lot of detail. He thinks that tattoos are hot in general.
Would try and get you to tattoo his name on yourself.
Vincent Sinclair
Vincent is glad that his S/O is also into art. He thinks you’re really good at what you do and loves to admire your work. I also believe that Vincent has a bit of a superiority complex… so h would be glad you’re into different art forms than he is because he doesn’t feel like he can be outdone by you.
With that being said, he occasionally will give you tips on things like placement and critique the details you add to any pieces.
Still, you’re great at what you do and Vincent knows it. So, he would be happy to let you give him a tattoo. After seeing his twin knives I believe he would go for something snake or Greek mythology themed.
Thomas Hewitt
Thomas would want you to incorporate some of his scars into tattoos to make him feel better about them. Don’t worry about hurting him, this man has an insane pain tolerance and he won’t even flinch no matter how long the piece takes.
Also likes watching you come up with concepts. You always add so many little details to even the rough sketches. He really appreciates the time, effort, and attention you put towards what you do.
Even though his very traditional family is against tattoos, Thomas loves them. At night, he enjoys tracing the ones on your own skin. He probably has each and every one memorized down to the smallest detail at this point.
Brahms Heelshire
Our uppity little English boy would not want a tattoo. His parents were very high class and snobby people so they most likely raised Brahms to think tattoos were for hooligans. In all honesty, Brahms may not even know what a tattoo is…
Once he sees the ones that you have though, he’s less against them. His eyes hungrily take in the way the black ink decorates your delicate skin, and he’s hooked. Brahms absolutely loves to look at them.
Also loves to watch as you draw ideas for new pieces. You just look so cute when you’re focused and he’s mesmerized by your sketches.
Billy Loomis
This man + patchwork tattoos= the hottest thing in the history of ever
Would be more than happy to let you tattoo him…you are doing it for free right?
Billy thinks that tattoos are cool and they definitely add onto his intimidating look. If you compliment them it definitely gives his ego a boost as well. You won’t be able to save yourself from this narcissist after he catches you eyeing the ink on his skin.
Also thinks that the tattoos on your own skin are very sexy. Please show him each and every one of them. Yes even if you have to take your clothes off, that’s the best part y/n.
Stu Macher
Stu is more than happy to let you use him as a human canvas as long as you promise to make him look cool. He trusts you enough to not mess up after he’s seen some of the amazing work that you’ve done.
Doesn’t really care what kind of tattoo you put on him. He’ll give you all the creative liberty, occasionally throwing in a suggestion that he would think’d be cool.
Likes the tattoos you have on yourself as well. Stu would be the one to think giving yourself a tattoo is insanely cool! He would never be able to concentrate on little details if he was stabbing himself with a needle.
Would let you give him a very stupid, simple tattoo. Like the really dumb line art ones. Also 100% down for matching tattoos. Even better! Matching stupid tattoos!
Asa Emory
You cannot convince me this man doesn’t have a butterfly tattoo like the one harry styles has. He most certainly does, end of story.
He wouldn’t let you give him a tattoo in a very visible place. As a professor he has to keep up his neat and organized appearance. Coming off as professional is very important to Asa.
He’s fine with your tattoos though. He appreciates your attention to detail in each of the intricate tattoos on your skin. Asa even enjoys watching you draw your ideas on paper.
Jesse Cromeans
He loves tattoos and is more than down to let you give him one. Please do, he’ll even pay you if you want, he doesn’t care.
If you give yourself a skull tattoo Jesse takes it as a confession of your undying love for him. After all, you’ve pretty much marked yourself as his possession anyways.
Needless to say he also loves seeing the ink you have on your own skin. Tattoos are a big turn on for him.

hi so i'm looking for some new music to listen to and i thought you could help because you have great taste!
if this helps, i'll tell you what i normally listen to, which is very basic & basically the same few artists over and over lol
- mostly just taylor swift, she makes up 70+% of my listening probably haha and if i had to pick a favorite genre of hers it would be the folkmore style
- some other pop, like olivia rodrigo and conan gray and lorde & some doja cat but i'm not a huge fan of doja's lyrics
- lyrics are really big for me, so is having a pretty voice and nice melodies
- i love your playlists but the old songs are usually not my style (there's been some though that i really like, ty for that !! <3)
- ceremonials is my favorite florence album
- liability is my favorite lorde song
no problem if u don't want to!
OH i basically recommend things for a living so why not music, eh?
so. what i'm getting from this is that you have three big listening buckets: soft acoustic and indie pop and just plain old pop. so i will divide my recs by those broad genres! i too prefer singable music so i will try to lay off on especially dissonant artists, or mark them as such so you can be prepared (LOL)
acoustic/folksy (i'll admit i am a big indie pop girl so this stuff will be a bit sparser)
phoebe bridgers — admittedly she is more alt-rocky, but see garden song, savior complex, moon song, graceland too, prayer in open D
waxahatchee — can't do much (GOD THIS SONG), lilacs, st. cloud
lucy dacus — also more alt-rocky, but here r some softer jams: hot & heavy, christine, green eyes, red face (a jily song)
anything by first aid kit! start with stay gold and the lion's roar
hozier — i feel like most people on the internet have listened to SOME hozier but check out wasteland, baby! (i tried to pick individual songs and ended up listing most of the album LOL)
kacey musgraves — another artist you've probably listened to already, but try golden hour
brittany howard — stay high must be the sweetest song in existence, and basically all of her album jaime
arlo parks — the whole album but especially caroline, hurt, and black dog
lake street dive — i can change, good kisser (a mary song if i've ever heard one), and i adore their hall & oates cover!
anya marina — this whole album has had me by the throat since like 2013
lucius — just the whole album wildewoman, h/t @figg-anon for putting me onto this!
idk what tf genre fiona apple is but try her out as well!
artists i listen to less of but are in this vein: the lumineers, bon iver, vance joy
u know i had to rec some old people shit (LOLLLL), so in this vein, joni mitchell, heart, judee sills, emmylou harris, joan baez, vashti bunyan
one-off songs you might like: hold you now by vampire weekend, big wheel by samia, i eat boys by chloe moriondo, strawberry blond by mitski (i worship at the altar of mitski but she might not be your speed haha), like i used to (acoustic) by sharon van etten & angel olsen, body by julia jacklin, jackie onassis by sammy rae and the friends, cowgirl bebop by HANA
indie pop BELOVED
maggie rogers — ok i cannot recommend this higher like if u like lorde and conan gray drop everything now and mainline maggie's brilliant debut album
HAIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — they've got poppier songs like want you back and more mellow songs like summer girl, but honestly i would just recommend a deep dive because they have a pretty surprising breadth within their own alt-rock/pop niche
caroline polachek — can sometimes get way out n weird in the pop sense but so hot you're hurting my feelings is a very listenable pop standard (also it's so funny she's such a clever lyricist also this is irrelevant here but she sounds amazing live), also love look at me now and her cover of breathless
charli xcx is more experimental pop but would rec trying out warm (FT HAIM!!!), blame it on your love (FT LIZZO!!), and official
rina sawayama — technically her album is all sorts of genres but especially XS, comme des garcons, paradisin', bad friend, and tokyo love hotel
orla gartland is a lil softer and i love more like you, oh GOD, and did it to myself
king princess — especially cheap queen, 1950, holy, but basically all of cheap queen
more one-offs: kansas by ashe, comeback by CRJ (full paean in her honour to come in the pop section), i am a big fan of other people covering the bleachers (LOL) especially rollercoaster by charli xcx and i wanna get better by tinashe (full tinashe praise to come too), saturdays by twin shadow (FT HAIM!!!), the kiss of venus and 3 nights by dominic fike (also his interlude on halsey's album), aute cuture and milionària by rosalía, young lover by st. vincent (i love her but again might not be for u haha), good days by sza, backyard boy by claire rosinkranz, slow dancing by aly & aj, hot sugar by glass animals
if ur down to try out something weird witchy and cool, kate bush is like the originator of 9 billion pop and rock genres and hounds of love is a masterpiece
pure pop (we can split hairs on what makes pure pop LOL but basically everything here is based on ur enjoyment of doja)
carly rae jepsen — ok if u haven't listened to her non-radio-hits u may be like "what?? call me maybe lady???" to which i say YES, especially window, stay away, no drug like me, and too much
victoria monet — this may or may not be a selling point to you, but victoria is a frequent ariana grande collaborator and you can absolutely hear it in her music (see also: the mattress spring background noises in dive JUST like they are in positions...), and i love experience, go there with you, and we might even be falling in love, and why not throw in her ariana grande collab monopoly
magdalena bay — how to get physical which i am destined, nay, contractually bound, to put in a jily modern AU someday, killshot, stop & go
tinashe — basically ALL of her new album!!! SO good. i also love rascal (superstar), esther, and old jams like company (and i JUST found out she has a chaka khan cover!)
chloe x halle have the most angelic vocals in the world
this might sound actually demented because WHO hasn't heard love on the brain but rly... go give ANTI a re-listen...
tove lo — especially are u gonna tell her, mateo, and jacques
WAIT I FORGOT TO SAY ROBYN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERY ROBYN SONG!!!!!!!
for that throwback poppy sound u may as well go real throwback KJAHKJA and check out donna summer!
one-offs: right to it by louis the child n ashe, serial lover by kehlani (also more by her but im getting lazy now kdjfhgk), missed calls by max n hayley kiyoko, peppers and onions by tierra whack, idk who hasnt heard this song but circles by meg, todo de ti by rauw alejandro (the way i wanted this to be song of the summer so bad ;___;)
hope you enjoy and pls come back and tell me if you really liked any of these!!!! xoxo

Here’s this morning’s songs.
An architect dream, Kate Bush, 10:58 AM – – first song. About the creator.
This may sound a little funny, but for the last few weeks at sundown God and I have been talking about how he’s painting the sky. Two nights ago I joked and said that he was almost as good as Bob Ross.
D song 89, the house of love—Now a little prayer for values
Oh I thought of you as Friday
and iconoclasts are losers
When they drink and shed their sorrows
to win
Now a history of water
Just to wash away the skin—water purification practices
Shadowboxing, Julian Baker—-Born cutting teeth on the curb
Summoning ghosts up from the concrete I know that you don't understand
'Cause you don't believe what you don't see
Do you watch me throwing punches at the Devil
Van diemen’s land, u2, 11:11—-It's a bitter pill I swallow here
To be rent from one so dear
We fought for justice and not for gain
But the magistrate sent me away— song about Ireland and occupation and having to face a jury of your peers
Dream
On, Aerosmith—Half my life’s in books’ written pages
Lived and learned from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to you Half my life's in books' written pages
Lived and learned from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to you
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
The hardest walk, Jesus and Mary chain—Oh and I'm alive and I'm alone
Inside a sick sick dream
Oh is it me
Is it me that feels so weak
I cannot deceive but I find it hard to speak
11:22, Ancestors, bjork—-he said I did it
Mary Lou, Bruce Springsteen—You're scrapbook's filled with pictures of all your leading men— this is about all the man from the other side who are on my walls and how they’re my protectors
We are just friends, wilco—it’ll be brand new
I’ve tried to make amends
Everything I’ve done wrong, my whole world just ends
11:33, young lover, st Vincent—Oh, but these pills
I can't even pronounce them
Your thousand watts of light dimmed
Then you're gone again
Yeah
young lover, begging you please to wake up
Young lover, I wish that I was your drug
Wake up, young lover, I thought you were dyin'
She’s always seventeen, harry Chaplin— this is a song they’ve had me saying for a couple of years. It’s about a woman who leads the world through spiritual revolution.
Sex yeah, marina —
If women were religiously recognized sexually
Sold my soul, and yeah, the truth hurt
All my life I’ve felt it deep inside of me
All this time was fighting for what I believe
All my life I've tried to hide what history has given me, me
Young lover remix, st Vincent, 11:50–again.
Nobody’s twisting your arm, wedding present—
There’s the key, there’s the door—about her making copies of my keys and having various people do things inside . They say there were 7 copies of my keys made, besides her copy.
Men of good fortune, lou reed, 11:55—-Men of good fortune
Very often can't do a thing
While men of poor beginnings
Often can do anything
At heart they try to act like a man
Handle things the best way they can
They have no rich daddy to fall back on
Mena good fortune often wish that they could die While men of poor beginnings
Want what they have and to get it they'll die
All those great things that life has to give
They wanna have money and live
But me, I just don't care at all(this song has played a lot especially in the beginning back in 2017)
Collar of your shirt, matt berninger— i’ll tell you everything whenever you want In the vanishing geometry of fire (sacred geometry, and fire is spirit)
You're just a loner so just escape And I can't hear myself down here
I hear no sounds
But everything is screaming out for you
When you're not around
(I could hear Jack talking to me while this played partly. )
Down by the water; pj Harvey—-they had me saying this one. This song is deeply important is the word they’re using. I’ve quoted it before.
Pop song 89, rem—-Hello, I’m sorry, I lost myself
I think I thought you were someone else
Should we talk about the weather? (hi, hi, hi)
Should we talk about the government? (hi, hi, hi, hi) Hello, my friend, are you visible today?
You know I never knew that it could be so strange, strange
Young man blues, the hill, 12:12 —-this is a song about how hard it is to make it as a man and all the pressures on men being unable to even know what their feelings are. To get to their heart and their soul. And yes it refers to Jakk too.
And the future , robin Williams—Hi ! can you say Armageddon? too late! Maybe the worlds going to be a better place like Epcot center , you don’t know , you don’t goddamn know do you? It’s a crapshoot I don’t know…. (Speaking to child) Do you wanna have some fun before we go? How do you get to the mat?
(Child voice) Money lots and lots of money!
(Adult) let’s go home, your mom will be there you’re not afraid are you?
(Child) Nah, fuck it!
God bless you New York. Good night.”-reference to tickets for the Met Gala being $35,000… And how many people are in poverty?
Keep, Sharon Van Etten— remember these moments they’re all we have
Breathe slowly, so I can breathe with you
My inner dialogue's a drone
Keep...
Don't cry for me, I can't either
No, I can't weep Caught in a lie, I want
You to keep me to yourself
Keep running deep under my skin I want to shed
Don't keep it in, keep it on the thinnest of all threads—-this song is about Jakk
Hot air balloon, Mitch Hedberg—-those fuckers are unpredictable
Eternity, Benjamin Clementine—-
You know it all, I sit and wait
With bundled arms and hands that fail
Till the last lifting of the veil
And the first openin' of the gate
You know it all, I cannot see
I trust I shall not live in vain
I know that we shall meet again
In some divine eternity—me and blond
IMi, bon iver, 12:34–We been here before
And I can't ignore it anymore
You know the way it goes
How much longer then? (I'll show you in)
(Now I'll tell you why) And if it don't happen like that
Well, then it don't happen at all
Keepin' what you tell me
(Said Ini)
Now I won't lie
Telephone, lady Gaga, 12:35— as I said before I’m getting a lot of fake cards. And my main phone was called twice this morning before I was out of the shower. There’s also references to a lot of spirits are coming to me, but also members of the coven are trying to reach me and I’m not letting them. They’re trying very hard in my dreams.
She came along to me, Billy Bragg—But never never never
Never could have it been done
If the women hadn’t entered into the deal
Planet queen, T-Rex, 12:42–She used my head like a revolver
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter(this song plays a lot)
Extraordinary machine, Fiona Apple— saying yes to the picture. Not one special lyric, but my party was lit up for most of the lyrics. They love for me to sing this song. It’s a bit of a victory when they play it.
Interstate five, the wedding present 1251–And is it sexist to say that I thought just boys were meant to behave in this way? This is about the violence and the magnitude of the plan to ..”derail “ me.
Hold me down, halsey—My demons are begging me to open up my mouth
I need them
Mechanically make the words come out
They fight me, vigorous and angry
Watch them pounce He’s got me down on both knees
But it’s the devil that's tryna...
Hold me down, hold me down
Sneaking out the back door, make no sound Telling me I’m running out of time—possession. Both about me and Jakk.
Blue world, Mac Miller—Yeah, well, this a mad world, it made me crazy
Might just turn around, do one-eighty
I ain't politickin', I ain't kissin' no babies
The devil on my doorstep bein' so shady
Mmm, don't trip, we don't gotta let him in I'm here to make it all better with a little music for you
Walking through the sleepy city, Luna—No one listens to what people say
I just sit and hear the radio play —This song was written by the Rolling Stones.
Hold still, Jarvis Cocker, 1:11 —Struggling with the suitcases I did not see you go
My heart stopped beating and I felt my blood run cold And you're spinning above me
Hungry like the wolf, Duran Duran, 1:12–stalking song
Tumblr media
Roses are falling, Orville peck— they’ve never met a devil like you
Tumblr media
Lake song, the Decemberists… You tethered me to you

Welcome to the HOT AND VINTAGE MOVIE STARS bracket! we are currently voting on the HOTTEST and VINTAGEST male movie stars from 1910-1970. (we will do the ladies next.) Submissions for hot vintage men are now closed, but we are accepting propaganda for those already in the bracket.
Round 2 of the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament will be posted Saturday, January 6th, with some spillover to Sunday if needed, and will last a week. All the round 2 polls can be found and voted on under the tag #round 2. All polls—including the shadow bracket of men already removed from the main tournament, as well as additional fun mini polls—can be found in the #hotvintagepoll tag. Every poll in the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament is tagged with the hot man in it if you need to search for a hot man in particular.
Between rounds, any propaganda (photos, videos, gifs, or text) submitted for your favorite Hot Vintage Man who is in the next round may be added to the official propaganda field in the polls, giving your fave an advantage in the next round.
Please wait to send me your ladies until I post the submission form for that bracket. Asks submitting ladies don't count—you need to wait until the submission form.
"I have additional propaganda for the hot men!" Great! Send me an ask or reblog the poll and add your propaganda to it. I don't have time to read all the propaganda but I boost what I can.
If you're submitting propaganda for your hot man, I don't accept propaganda that's from beyond the end of this tournament's era (ie don't send me pics of them in the 70s onwards).
I want to see all the hot men competing in one place!!" You can find all the round 1 matchups here (thank you @markwatnae!), and everyone who made it to round 2 below the cut. Thank you for being here! Enjoy the tournament.

Round 4 of the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament will be posted Thursday, February 1st, and last a week. All the round 4 polls can be found and voted on under the tag #round 4. All polls—including previous rounds, the various shadow brackets and fun mini polls—can be found in the #hotvintagepoll tag. Every poll in the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament is tagged with the hot man in it if you need to search for a hot man in particular.
FAQs:
“Where is [my favorite hot man]?” It depends. Have you checked all the polls in the tag? Have you done a tag search for him? If you still haven’t found him, either nobody submitted him or he did not fit the criteria of being a movie man from 1910-1970.
“Can I still submit hot men?” No, the submission window has closed. Please do not send in men you wish had made it into the bracket. I can’t do anything with those asks and they just make me sad.
“I have hot women to submit!” Amazing! I’ve posted the submission form for that bracket here. Asks submitting ladies don’t count—you need to put it in the submission form. DO NOT tag me in hot lady propaganda yet! Do not send any to my asks!
"Can you post a list of the hot women already submitted?" No, because there are already 1300+ submissions and anything I post will be out of date immediately. The form takes two minutes or less to fill out—just submit instead of asking me if you should.
“I have additional propaganda for the hot men!” Great! Send me an ask, or reblog the poll and add your propaganda to it. I don’t boost all the propaganda I see or receive, but I try to boost the best of the best.
If you’re submitting propaganda for your hot man, I don’t accept propaganda that’s from beyond the end of this tournament’s era (ie don’t send me pics of them in the 70s onwards). I also don’t accept them acting in TV shows unless it’s clearly a cameo where they’re playing themselves.
I don’t post or boost negative propaganda about any hot man or woman. If you really hate that a certain hot man is winning, send me positive propaganda for their hot opponent. If you think a hot man or woman shouldn’t even be included in the tournaments because of scummy things they did in their lifetime, please read my take on it here.
If I see repetitive, trolling, and/or bigoted remarks in the comments, I may block you from this bracket. If you want to point out a hot man’s flaws or misdemeanors, that’s fine, but if I see consistent bad-faith trolling, you will be blocked.
On that note—don't be a dick! I try to keep this a happy bracket, but I have my limits. If you have an issue with the tournament, shoot me an ask or offer an alternate idea. (this especially applies to poll photos—I only change them if there are complaints and if the person complaining can supply a better one.)
“WHERE ARE THE HOT MEN. I want to see all the hot men competing in one place!!” You can find all the round 1 matchups here (thank you @markwatnae!), and everyone who made it to round 4 below the cut.
“My FAQ isn’t on here :(” send me an ask! I love hearing from you guys—just please check these basics first.
Thank you for being here! Enjoy the tournament.
