things have been especially rough for me this past year
mugsy and cookie passed away
my aunt died of cancer
my friend david is no longer here
i saw someone take their own life
my grandma was just admitted to the icu
my depression and anxiety both worsened drastically
and i’ve noticed the yearning for the release of nothingness started to seem more and more appealing
as a way to remind myself things are not always terrible and that life is still worth living i would like to use this as a cathartic method of documenting small moments that make me smile and that happened this year
because in the end, life is more than the pivotal, climatic, moments we tend to remember
since this is a list for myself, a lot of this won’t make sense, but that’s okay.
thank you for reading this far anyways.
dr. brooker told me i reminded him of his daughter.
i texted matt late at night, complaining that i was sick. i came to our 8 am the next morning to see a bag of cough drops and packs of tissues in my seat.
i got an a on my final neuroscience paper
nathan, alex, danny, ahmad, alex, and i spent over six hours at a mcdonalds on st patrick’s day talking about everything under the sun. it had been so long since i laughed that much that hard.
nathan decided it would be a good idea for his sibling and i to start playing dungeons and dragons and he be dm  (he immediately regrets this decision after our first session)
drishti, austin, nguyen, and i spent two hours at starbucks with dr. brooker. he solidified his position as my favorite professor then.
i met aaron.
aaron brought us cookies on the last day of class.
dr. matthes drew three stars on problem set two.
i met the purest pup, winnie, an australian shephard.
i finally met the two dogs i’ve been dying to meet since freshman year, an irish wolfhound and a terrier mix.
katia, nathan, and i had a picnic on the st paul campus. we spent the day petting dogs, climbing trees and statues, and cleaning squirrel remains in my lab afterwards.
austin, andrew, lizzy, lindsay, and i had lunch with aaron. he solidified his position as my second favorite professor.
meeting amelia and going to aaron’s office hours with her.
i received another leadership position at my college.
nguyen’s mom brought me vietnamese food after i confessed to nguyen how much i missed my mom and her food.
lizzy, nathan, and i sitting in our living room and contemplating dropping college and opening our own spaghetti house/coffee shop.
ayshwarya and i deciding on our backup plan of having a tomato farm in new zealand if things don’t pan out for us.
ayshwarya, leanne, and i deciding to travel together in the future
i met derek, who decided to send me an essay about helping me get into graduate school.
katie, josh, kelsey, drishti, and i having our end of biology lab celebration at buffalo wild wings.
katie and josh, bringing drishti and me jimmy johns, apples, granola bars, and candy after spending over five hours in lab.
my great lakes adventure with sophie.
jordan, andre, sonia, maria, drishti, and i going out to lunch with duncan.
seeing justine and spending my weekend at harry potter world with her, playing with makeup, going to ikea, and having late night talks over corn grill about anything and everything.
rob and abby’s reactions when i gave them their gifts.
lizzy and i losing our minds at sencha tea over physics.
i got an a on my final organic chemistry lab report.
i learned the uke.
i learned the harmonica.
nathan made dinner, braised eggs, and chocolate truffles for me (all on separate occasions).
seeing animals at the shelter with drishti, katie, and kelsey.
seeing animals at northrop with drishti.
surprising drishti with pizza at one am with nathan.
convincing shravika to make bad decisions over pizza with drishti and nathan at three am.
swinging on the swings in the snow with nathan and his sibling.
nathan and i had our second anniversary in the fall.
nathan and i having the time of our lives at the little playground in appleton.
nathan, alex, and i spending the afternoon at bay beach and running away from bees with ice cream afterwards.
i met luna.
i met gordy.
seeing frank the cat by his window walking to and from class.
playing the phylo card game with josh in the biology, teaching, and learning department before our meetings with dr. matthes.
having panic sessions with josh before our meetings with dr. matthes throughout the semester.
going to jazba and tamasha with nathan and drishti.
swapping playlists with matt.
woofles with kelsey, katia, and nathan.
aaron’s emails about lunch, the card, and the gift.
current thoughts, at 1:40 am, on may 15th: the fact that this list, though unfinished, is already significantly longer than the list of things that made my year worse

Exactly one year before the T20 World Cup in Australia next year, fourteen teams will battle it out in 51 games in the Qualifier tournament. The T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019, that begins on the 18th of October 2019, will be played till 2nd November 2019. It adopts a round-robin format (where teams will be divided into groups of seven each) which will be followed by the playoffs. Out of these fourteen teams, six will qualify to the next stage. They will then meet Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the first round of the World Cup. These eight sides will further be divided into two groups of four each. The best teams will then advance to the Super 12s stage of the T20 World Cup 2020. All the matches of this tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Being the hosts, the UAE has qualified directly for this T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. With Zimbabwe currently serving a ban, Nigeria has replaced them in the tournament. Pembroke Hill seniors lend hand to Ivanhoe area
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The sounds of chainsaws, lawn mowers, weed wackers and shovels traveled through the normally quiet streets of the Ivanhoe neighborhood Tuesday.
It wasn’t because of a recent storm, but a senior project.
The stretch of 34th Street from Brooklyn Avenue to Park Avenue received the muscle of Pembroke Hill seniors as they took over the community for a few hours to help clean it up.
“It's a civic duty, it's as simple as that,” said senior Andrew Hughes.
The senior class is finishing up one last class assignment before crossing the graduation stage.
“Walking through school, you only have class with 14 or 15 people,” said senior Matthe Gernon. “This gives us a chance for all 100 people in our grade to reunite.”
“It's really nice to build a sense of community before we all go our separate ways,” said senior Gina Pepitone.
“Even individually, they can make an impact and how important it is and how much it means to especially the elderly residents,” said Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council Chief Operating Officer Nailah M'Biti.
The street is a demonstration block where vacant lots and homes are transformed into vibrant properties.
“One of the things that happens, when you see a neighborhood with overgrown blocks of areas that have trash, debris, excessive growth, it appears that no one cares,” said Key Coalition Neighborhood President, Karen Slaughter. “It's very easy for the residents to feel disenfranchised.”
Neighborhood leaders say it’s a chance for Ivanhoe residents to see that their community matters and get involved.
“Some of the residents, they're worried about gentrification and all the negative things that comes with it, so our goal is to get more residents within the neighborhood engaged to boost that care factor,” said Marquis Everett from the Urban Neighborhood Initiative.
Seniors are hoping their work can make a lasting impact.
“There's so much we have that we can share with others and it's our duty and our job to share that with others and that you can learn from anyone and everyone,” said senior Bella Barnes.
“When we're able to come in and spark up or spruce up an area what we're doing today, it shows residents two things,” Slaughter said. “One, that we do care what's going on in their environment and two, that they can come out and be engaged and help us maintain it.”

LILY IN THE GRINDER (2015) - HBO Project Greenlight Finalist from Michael Morgenstern on Vimeo.
With striking visuals, tells the story of Ryan's search for meaning in his bare New York City existence. Set to an original string quartet score. Lily in the Grinder is about alienation, existence, sex, death, and time.
What if a human life is a static four-dimensional entity that cannot be said to truly begin or end? What if we already are everything we will ever be?
