ONE YEAR LATER…..ANNIVERSARY OF A REBELLION
ONE YEAR LATER…..ANNIVERSARY OF A REBELLION - http://keywestlou.com/one-year-later-anniversary-of-a-rebellion/The U.S.is a nation in transition. We will never be the same. Regardless of which side wins. Biden speaks at 9 this morning. An address before Congress. The Chamber defiled by dissidents one year ago. Biden will be taking the fight directly to Trump. He will say Trump holds "singular responsibility" for the "chaos and carnage." How will Congressional Republicans react? Many have opted not to attend. Will be out of town for one reason or another. Late last night, I viewed a long and eye opening video. I can't find it this morning. Search for it. You must view. It is the story of West Virginia. The transition accomplished. Trump country. Dissident country. Most persons rebellious. The video made me understand for the first time what Joe Manchin is doing. He sees where his state has gone. He does not intend being left behind. He is going with them. Manchin knows exactly what he is doing. He has jumped the fence. Recall yesterday's blog where I reported a January 6 comment uttered by many of the young insurrectionists: The Founding Fathers would be proud. These people are going to be hard to beat. They believe they are the Boston Tea Party's Sons of Liberty and the Patriots at the Battle of Lexington and Concord. How did this all come to be? Why didn't enough see it coming? One of the West Virginia January 6 insurrectionists considers himself a warrior. He has 2 young children. He believes when they are older, January 6 will be in the history books and they will know their father was there. Proudly said by him. Merrick Garland addressed the nation yesterday. I was not impressed. My thoughts from day one continue to be the same. I hope I am wrong. My sense he and Justice are doing little if anything to pursue the big guys involved in the planning and financing of January 8. For no other reason, it is the nature of the man. His judge years are directing him rather than those of a hard assed prosecutor. Arianna. George Floyd's 4 year old niece shot yesterday at 3 am in her bed at home by bullets from a car driving by. Seriously injured. More disturbing news has come forth. 911 was called at 3 am. The police did not arrive till 4 hours later at 7 am. Arianna's parents drove her to the hospital. Probably saved her life by so doing. Arianna's family believes they were "targeted" because of their involvement in the Floyd protests. What goes around, comes around. Putin overnight has major problems. Sufficiently extreme that the Ukraine will quietly slide into silence for the time being. Putin cannot fight two wars at one time. One of Russia's neighbors is Kazakhstan. While Putin was playing games with the Ukraine, Kazakhstan has gone into rebellion.  Moscow is in a frenzy. Putin never saw it coming. Putin announced he was leading in sending Russian troops and those from 6 other former Soviet countries into Kazakhstan. He calls the group assembled "peacekeeping troops." Putin's problem consistent with the old saying that while the cat's away, the mice will play. Putin deserving of what is happening. Enjoy your day!

Do you have any bios for your OCs or could you just explain them real quick?
Sure!
Lexi, Freddie, and Clara are non-fandom OC’s for a story I haven’t written yet xP
Lexi Lexington is the protagonist. She’s a young freelance reporter in a small town. Very intrepid. Bibliophile. Think a slightly less demure Nancy Drew, or a female Tintin and you’ve got about the right idea.
Freddie Duglas is Lexi’s main kid sidekick in the story (for reasons). He’s ten years old and has a paper route. Orphaned at an early age and lives with his starving-artist aunt. He’s also artistic and wants to make graphic novels when he grows up.
Clara is Lexi’s nine-year-old sister. Very sweet, enjoys tea parties, sleeps with a stuffed purple octopus. Think “flower crown aesthetic”.
Corinne is a MySims Kingdom OC, and my version of the Royal Wandolier (aka the player character) in that game. She’s painfully shy and lacking in self-esteem, but she loves the friends she does have and just wants to make the world a better place. However she’s soon to learn that being a Wandolier might not be all it’s cracked up to be… or is it?
Arianna is a Disney Fairies OC. She’s a garden fairy with a particular hobby/talent for interior decorating. Also enjoys playing matchmaker. Certified Mom Friend.
And finally, “Muse” is what I call my Personality Core (Portal series) OC who communicates almost solely in snippets of Broadway showtunes.

The Great American Eclipse swept across the nation on August 21, 2017, and it didn’t disappoint. A 70-mile-wide region, stretching from Oregon across to South Carolina, experienced totality—the Sun’s photosphere was entirely covered by the Moon, leaving only the wispy corona visible. The corona, the outermost part of the Sun’s atmosphere, has a temperature greater than 1,000,000 K; by contrast, the surface of the Sun is only 5,800 K. Yet the reason we can’t see the corona under normal circumstances is because its density is only 10-12  times that of the Sun’s photosphere, so the Sun outshines it. Put the Moon in front of the Sun so that it covers its photosphere entirely, however, and you get this:

WHOA! You can clearly see the wispy features of the corona in this photo.
What follows is a whole lot of eclipse images, phone pics, professional photographs, videos, partial eclipse photos, photos of totality, the diamond ring, Baily’s beads, you name it! So buckle up, this is one heck of a Great American Eclipse ride!
Not everyone got to see totality, but the images are nevertheless stunning! My brother and actor Dylan Ramsey took some photos, and video! Here’s one he took in Los Angeles through solar shades:

And here’s a 45 minute time lapse he took at about 10 AM PDT:

And another, by my friend Divya Persaud:

And here are two photos taken in Texas by Logan Kane:

This one is particularly nice, because of the silhouette:

There were also events held around the country! One was at my school, UC Irvine, and was organized by my friends and colleagues, UCI Physics and Astronomy grad students Katy Wimberly and Arianna Brown! Here are a few photos from the event:

What great work by Katy and Arianna, the event drew in over 1000 people to watch the eclipse!!
Before we get to some totality photos (we all want those, right?!), let’s look at this cool effect that happens as an eclipse progresses and the Sun’s light shines through tree leaves:

The leaves of a tree act as pinhole projectors, and because there are so many leaves, you have solar eclipse projector-ville at your feet! Really neat.
Now, totality!! And there are plenty of magnificent ones you’re about to see. Here are a couple of videos:

The beauty of videos is that you get to hear the crowd’s excitement! Nothing better than hearing people being thrilled about astronomy.
Now, onto some photos! Here’s a nice one:

And this one was taken by my friend Kathy Kerner:

But wait for it: Kathy and her friend Nicole Kwapis got to see that spectacular diamond ring we all love so much! Here it is:

More diamond rings? But of course! Here’s another:

And another, because WOW:

But we also have Baily’s Beads! Here’s a photo of Baily’s beads almost going into a diamond ring:

And these were taken by my friend, space enthusiast, and graphic designer Jason Major (who processes some of the best space photos, by the way):

More Baily’s beads here:

Of course we can also bask in the Sun’s corona, as we did in the first photo:

The added visibility of solar prominences in Jason’s photos are just spectacular! Here’s another photo that shows off the Sun’s corona, and also features prominences:
Tumblr media

Bear in mind: solar prominences can get really high—several Earth diameters above the Sun’s surface! The in the above photo at 3 o’clock looks like the same one in Jason’s at 4 o’clock; performing a crude measurement, and using the fact that the Sun has a diameter of 1.39 million km, or about 865,000 miles, I estimate that prominence to be about 54,500 km, or 33,900 miles, high—that’s over four Earth diameters! Isn’t our solar system’s star wonderful?
Now, back to the eclipse. Some had cloudy skies, but that didn’t get in the way of the exquisite spectacle that was the eclipse:

And a time lapse of totality:

And, saving the best for last: my friend and planetary scientist Tanya Harrison got to experience the moment from Alaska Airlines!
Tumblr media
Totality from 38,000 feet above, and 800 miles off the coast of Oregon, on Aug 21, 2017. Credit: Tanya Harrison Twitter: @tanyaofmars Website: Tanya Of Mars
No matter where you were, if you saw this eclipse, you experienced a moment that you shared with millions of people, a moment in which nothing mattered, nothing but basking in the glory of science, and chance, making it possible for us to be able to view something so spectacular from our planet. Cherish that moment—it was beautiful.
The #GreatAmericanEclipse has swept the nation, and the images are breathtaking! #Eclipse2017 The Great American Eclipse swept across the nation on August 21, 2017, and it didn't disappoint. A 70-mile-wide region, stretching from Oregon across to South Carolina, experienced totality---the Sun's photosphere was entirely covered by the Moon, leaving only the wispy corona visible.

You know...it’s probably best this was new information for Arianna.  I feel like after a certain number of students, it’s no longer allowed, apology or not.
