in case you're wondering how I might be doing mentally, this week I've watched 10+ hours of American Girl content on YouTube and bought myself (full grown woman with bills to pay) 7 American Girl books online. Last week I was so British I'd barely even heard of that brand. This week I would literally die for Kirsten Larson. The DollTube pipeline is real.

Can someone please recommend to me some black dolltubers? (A person who reviews/collects dolls)
I'm kinda getting into collecting dolls and I'd really like to hear some perspectives/opinions from people that look like me? (If that makes sense). Thanks.

Long time, no see! I haven't been in the mood for photos, plus busy with other projects and life stuff. Buf finally yesterday I got in the mood to take doll photos. Lea is holding one of the miniature paintings I've made for my diorama's. I do have a tutorial on YouTube for the one you can see in the back. Check out the link in my bio. Also, subscribe to my channel, as I would love to get to 100 subscribers before the end of the year #barbie #madetomove #dolldiorama #dollhouseminiatures #miniaturepainting #dolltube #youtubevideo #youtubetutorial #dollphotography #dollgram #dollstagram #barbiegram #dollphotographyer https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdx-59gNHsn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today's watching was some dolltubers. I wanted to see what the fuss is about. I only follow Dollsahoy's dress along videos and Barbie's gay best friend (he always talks skin tones and how the facial screening is done) with a humour that works for me.
First up, gotta get this out of the way, IMHO no one does reviews like Toy Box Philosopher and I have yet to see a video reviewer do what she does in photography and text format.
Readmore for length
Half of them don't even convey a sense of scale when what I'm looking for is what the doll looks like in hand or often aren't compared to other lines to contrast. So they might be nice I just have no interest in watching ads for stuff that won't be here for a year.
So I went looking for opinion and current topics like overconsumption.
I didn't like the clawdeena9 video on doll industry changes this year, it was an industry article repackaged without critique with hype added to things that aren't really gossip or that interesting. I haven't enjoyed his other videos either, just not my style and very different tastes in collecting.
I watched multiple The Doll Daddy videos and really enjoyed the anti-hauls. That's a great concept, making a list of stuff you're not going to buy short of a massive price drop and why. The one on overconsumption was painful to watch, it wasn't a critique but a very vulnerable look into his current overconsumption due to grief. It resonated in that it made me want to hand my paypal, ebay and aliexpress logins to a trusted friend for a while 😅. The critique videos were delightfully scathing and he has enough mileage with the companies to be able to say things like this used to be playline standard or this company's track record on well done faces isn't great.
Faery Tales Dolls didn't go into much depth, mostly speaking from the perspective of algorithmic and community pressure to get dolls and review them in a timely manner. Though I do recognise having to pull back from certain communities that blur whether I want something for it's own sake or because it's the thing to have
I've watched the izzyizz doll videos as they came out as they were decently presented and not too long, if a little surface level.
Darling Dollz did a good retrospective on the empty moments before 2016.
Myworld doesn't really work for my tastes, the videos that aren't reviews don't tell me much, same for plastic_hearts.
More tomorrow.

People talk a lot about the barbie novelas inspired by The Most Popular Girls In School that used to permeate dolltube but what really makes me nostalgic are the teen suspense monster high stop motion series made by 12 yo girls who treated it like a hbo emmy bait drama

Literally if modern Chucky wasn't already so baller I'd say this would be the perfect time for a Chucky sequel wherein it's a dolltuber being terrorized after modding him to serve cunt

unfortunately anon, you're wrong in how people get into the hobby. most people, largely children, get into the hobby because they watched some youtube video about bjds via autoplay off of some d0llightful video. it'll invariably be about a recast, because dolltube is full people who shit out content with no effort or integrity. they see the pretty doll, they google "bjd", they click the first result, they buy their bootleg minifee. then they feel victimized when they're told they did bad. sucks.
