So something's been in my head and it was something that I've always been bothered with. To the point where an entire AU was inspired by this thought and an original character for my comic was created around the thought: Why does Yuuga have so many mirrors? Ever since Yuuga's short character moment in the redimal course arc with Deku, it became pretty clear to a lot of us that Yuuga was struggling with his self esteem and his perception of himself. But then... Why would he have so many mirrors in his room? It make sense if he had a high opinion of his vanity all of his life. Could it be a self affirmation? It would be overkill if true, but then he is a bit of a dumb teen, of course it's be more logical to do so for HIM, right? Maybe not.
Yuuga's Self Punishment
Tumblr media
You see it often in movies and shows, right? The character makes a lot of bad choices and towards the end they look at themselves in self hatred in realization. "Look at what I've done" "How did this even happen?" You see characters looking at themselves, saying "today is going to be perfect" We often tell ourselves self affirming things in the mirror. Some people remind themselves to who they are everytime things get rough. This is exactly what he does to himself. I believe 100% that he looks at himself in the mirror and at the dirty villain" that stares right back.
Using a quote from This article for further insight, "(...therefore, by looking deep into a mirror, we look deep inside ourselves in a conscious way, following a thoughts process.)"
My old AU, before I got invested with the traitor theory, Yuuga's real quirk was Shapeshifting and he inherited the Laser quirk from his dead father. His mother feels so much pain seeing his father everytime she looked at him that he removed every aspect of his father's genes. He used the laser quirk that hurt him so much as a tribute to his father, who was a hero who stole quirks from villains and died in battle. He isn't true to himself so he punishes himself and his image, constantly shifting between his real face and his blond one, trying to convince himself that he will continue to shine that he will be alright. That he needs to continue his father's legacy, even though he doesn't even want to be a hero. My character Neci, he has many problems regarding his image and self worth I won't get into here, but he does the same thing. He stares at himself telling himself that he HAS to be the perfect prince that he desperately wants to be, knowing that fairy tales aren't real and that he'll end up screaming at his ugly, revolting, monstrous image later on.
Yuuga tells himself everyday that he NEEDS to continue being the traitor. That his feelings don't matter on the subject. He CAN NOT fail, or else he will pay the price.

Doma Terra
A simple story project to explore the life and character of Terra Novari, Princess Estra's largely ignored spare. This is connected to my old royal story so if you're familiar with her from that, I'm continuing her life post the KBE Model search and her appearance at the Adastead Ball. Posts for this will probably be slower than I'd like because of the usual rl stuff I have to get back to once this weekend is up (it was spring break for me this week).

Author's Note: Confusingly in my non-royal saves her surname is Yager since she's from the Yager line of the Nova family but Sorori culture works differently in terms of how family names are handled so I'm using her royal name tag for this instead of her standard tag. She's mostly the same person in both versions but being a royal obviously ads extra baggage to her being the magic clone child of a wealthy real estate heiress.
