Back for more Tang moments from my season 3 rewatch! Here are some of my favorites from 'Cooking with Chang'e':

WHY IS HE SO CUTE???!!!!

I love the running gag where characters grab the person holding the object of interest instead of actually holding the object itself.

[Also, hey, is this a bit of foreshadowing? Tang is the only character to be seen by himself with both the rings of Samadhi and the map at the same time, which, along with Tang himself, just so happen the key parts to starting the Samadhi fire ritual. The fact that MK grabs Tang instead of just the ring could just be a part of the running gag, but I'm inclined to believe that there was a bit of intentional imagery here.]

Yeah, you're one to talk, bubble boy.

Why are you defensive about the map here, Tang? Hmmm?

Tang's line in this scene struck me as odd when I first watched it but after the context of the season 3 finale and special, it might hold a bit more weight.

Let's assume Tang Sanzang was the one who made the map (it makes the most sense). If you consider that the show all but confirmed that Tang is the reincarnation of Tripitaka in season 3, this line becomes that much funnier. It's as if a bit of Tripitaka is coming through and is offended that someone is criticizing his work.

Gosh, this man is just so darn adorable when he's doing his studies. l like that this season actively shows Tang doing research, instead of just telling stories and plot-relevant exposition.
