CSK's Ravindra Jadeja's last-ball Last-Ball Win: A New Chapter in IPL History
Tumblr media
CSK's Ravindra Jadeja's last-ball Last-Ball Win: A New Chapter in IPL History The IPL championship game was shortened to 15 overs due to rain delays on Monday night. Despite not being a T20 or T10 format, the Chennai Super Kings emerged victorious over their opponents, achieving a nail-biting victory off the final ball with five wickets in hand. The thrilling game concluded at 1.30 am on Tuesday in front of a packed crowd in Ahmedabad, with Ravindra Jadeja scoring the necessary 10 runs off the last two balls. In the reduced overs game, there was a lot of pressure on both bowlers and batters. Due to batters having only a limited number of overs to score runs, the powerplay was filled with aggressive play. Although the bowlers Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya were unable to create much movement, the leg-spinner Rashid Khan was unable to generate any turn in the ball. Despite the opposition's best efforts, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad managed to score 52 runs without losing any wickets in just four overs. As a result, CSK only required 119 runs in the remaining 11 overs with all wickets still intact, which was a quite achievable target in a T20 game. Despite GT's valiant effort, they couldn't win the game. Similar to Chennai Super Kings, the key to Gujarat Titans' achievements is their consistency. However, they have been trying out different players at the No. 3 batting position. One such player is Sai Sudharsan, a 21-year-old left-handed batsman who has only played in half of GT's matches. Sudharsan displayed promise early on, but he came through when it mattered most, with a remarkable innings of 96 off just 47 balls, featuring eight fours and six sixes. A declaration directed at his team, explaining why he deserved more playing time, and addressing CSK, the franchise from his hometown who previously overlooked him despite his time with their junior team in TNPL.  Sudharsan comes from a family with a background in sports, as his father R Bharadwaj was a former India sprinter and his mother Usha played volleyball. GT selected him for a base prize of ₹20 lakh prior to IPL 2022. Sudharsan showed great fluency with the bat from the moment he stepped onto the pitch in the eighth over following Shubman Gill’s dismissal. He hit two impressive sixes off Maheesh Theekshana in the 15th over, one from a full toss and the other in the direction of cow corner. The left-hander reached his half-century in the subsequent over, having taken just 33 deliveries to do so. CSK’s powerplay bowling was uninspiring until Sudharsan arrived at the crease. The bowlers had a tendency to bowl down leg or pitch it too full. A sharp catch taken by Dhoni off Ravindra Jadeja helped slow GT down, sending Shubhman Gill (39) back to the pavilion. GT had reached 86/1 mid-innings, but the pitch was too flat for CSK’s spinners to gain control in the middle overs. The spin duo, consisting of Theekshana and Jadeja, conceded 74 runs in 8 overs. Though it seems distant, Sudharsan managed to control Anrich Nortje's speed on a difficult Ferozeshah Kotla surface during the beginning of IPL 2023. In his undefeated score of 62, he executed the ramp and scoop shots against Nortje's rapid pace. However, during the previous game against Mumbai Indians, Sudharsan's pace decelerated in the final overs, resulting in a retired out for the impressive Rashid Khan. Nevertheless, he rectified this issue in the current game. In the 17th over, he opened up some space and endeavored to reverse scoop Tushar Deshpande over short fineleg. Although the six was a result of a leading edge, Sudharsan's aim was evident. Subsequently, by using an innovative approach to unsettle Deshpande, the bowler began to deliver wider balls. Three consecutive boundaries ensued as the left-handed batsman exploited the gaps resulting from Deshpande's wider delivery. These gaps were located on both sides of mid-off, as well as through covers. This consequential 20-run over provided the required momentum for GT's late inning's attack. Unfortunately for Deshpande, he couldn't stop the flow of runs and leaked an additional 18 runs in his subsequent over, which Pandya capitalized on to maximum effect. Sudharsan's assault persisted during the last over, facing off against Pathirana, esteemed as one of the finest death-over bowlers in the tournament. Sudharsan anticipated everything, standing close to the crease. The Malinga-copy missed his aim twice, resulting in Sudharsan scoring two sixes. In the third ball, Pathirana finally delivered a yorker, ending Sudharsan's excellent innings just four runs shy of a hundred. Nevertheless, Sudharsan's captain approved of his performance, and the two players fist-bumped as Sudharsan basked in the applause of the audience. In the final five overs, GT scored 71 runs, bringing their total score to 214. Read the full article

Why MS Dhoni’s CSK Are In Top 2 In IPL 2023? Ravi Shastri Explains
Tumblr media
The IPL 2022 season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was forgettable as they finished ninth out of ten teams, winning just four of their 14 games. But in IPL 2023, the team’s choice to remain confident in its players before the IPL auction in December 2022 appears to be paying off. CSK has won six of its 11 games and is now second in the standings. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri credits MS Dhoni’s ‘foresight’ in sticking by underachieving players who he thought would improve over time for the team’s success.
Shastri stated on ESPNcricinfo that Dhoni was “a master at putting a combination together.” “It makes sense. It is awareness. He would have done it with a select guys, most likely sticking with a player who might not be great in 2022 but who he believes would be excellent in 2023. He would have given the player the assurance in 2022 to put in the work. That won’t surprise me. He definitely thinks in that way, but since I’m not involved, I won’t know. For more reads : IPL 2023

How many IPL Playoff Appearances have SRH Earned?
One of the world's most fiercely contested competitions is the Indian Premier League.
IPL is an exciting event for both fans and players because of the superior calibre of cricket played there.
From player selection to team branding, the franchisees in the IPL have a difficult task on their hands.
However, the team's performance on the field is the most crucial factor, and ultimately, it is what matters to the supporters.
In 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad took the place of Deccan Chargers in the IPL.
They had an immediate effect by making the playoffs in their first game.
They immediately had an effect by making the playoffs in their first season and have now advanced to the postseason six times.
Here is a list of SRH's IPL performances, broken down each year.
As can be seen from the table, with the fierce competition in the IPL, SRH has qualified for the playoffs six times in their existence.
After winning the 2016 competition, they were able to advance to the playoffs for five straight years, up until 2020.
Their most crucial player, David Warner, served as their captain in 2016, and it was through his leadership that they won the championship.
Kane Williamson has also skippered Hyderabad three times for an entire season; in 2021, he assumed the position in the middle of the campaign.
Overall, Sunrisers Hyderabad has always been better at bowling, especially when Dale Steyn was the attack's spearhead.
During their prime, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were essential members of their team, but the 2021 and 2022 seasons did not go well for them
Conclusion:
Although Sunrisers Hyderabad has been a fairly successful IPL team, they now need to reinvent themselves following their loss in the previous two seasons.
Prior to the 2023 season, they discharged their captain Kane Williamson, another key hitter in Nicholas Pooran, and a few more players.
With Brian Lara serving as their head coach, Sunrisers Hyderabad will undoubtedly be looking for a successful comeback in the 2023 IPL. We can now anticipate them to

Suryakumar Yadavs wife credits lifestyle changes Mumbai Indians stint for his transformation
Suryakumar Yadav has been India’s best batter in T20Is this year. Picture Credit: BCCI/IPL and Twitter/@@surya_14kumar KEY HIGHLIGHTS Surya made his T20I debut for India against England in Ahmedabad last year in March. Since his debut, he has taken the cricketing world by storm and has impressed with his show. Surya’s wife reveals the reasons behind the rise of 32-year-old batter in the last few years. Suryakumar Yadav made his T20I debut for India against England on March 14, 2021 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, but got a chance to bat for the first time on March 18, in the fourth game of the series. And the right-handed batter had a sensational start to his international career, hitting a six off the first ball he faced against a tearaway pacer, Jofra Archer. It was the start of something new and now, after 18 months, the Mumbai batter, who turned 32 last month, has never looked back and has taken the cricketing world by storm. In 2022, he scored the highest number of 801 runs in T20Is for India. He will be India’s biggest X-factor in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. Surya was considered as one of the most talented batters in domestic cricket ever since he made his first class debut for Mumbai in 2010, but he rose to prominence in 2018, when he joined the Mumbai Indians side ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League. That was the turning point in his career. Before that, he was a regular feature in the IPL but never really had a chance to impress. But the move to the Mumbai Indians in 2018 changed everything for him. In the five seasons before that, Surya had never crossed the 200-run mark in a season, but in 2018, he scored 512 runs in 14 matches and then followed it up by making 424, 480, 317, and 303 in the next four seasons for the five-time IPL winners. Ahead of Team India’s opening game in the T20 World Cup against Pakistan in Melbourne on Sunday (October 23), Surya’s wife, Devisha Shetty, in a conversation with Indian Express, talks about the reasons behind the transformation of Surya and reveals how things changed post 2018. “You tend to enjoy life more in your early 20s, all of that comes in. But then things changed a bit; he started taking everything a little more seriously; 2018 was a great year batting-wise for the Mumbai Indians,” Devisha said, on SKY’s rise to prominence. “The commitment meant not just signing up to deepen his resolve to play for India, but leaving behind an entire way of indulgent, hedonistic life. He has no vices now; he may have had when he was younger, but he is much more in control of himself now,” she added. Surya, according to her, was not strict with his fitness before, but he began to take diet and exercise more seriously in the years that followed. She reveals that, post-2019, the 32-year-old turned his diet into a lifestyle. “He would work out earlier, but he would not be that strict with what he was eating. There would be phases. He would crash-diet for two-to-three months, he would get into shape, and then he would stop the diet. But now, for him, it has become a lifestyle. It is no longer just a diet that he has to follow.” “It is not like on an everyday basis he will eat dal chawal and roti sabzi. From 2019 onwards, he has taken this up more seriously. Whatever his name and fame are, they are on the ground. I tell him to leave all that outside. You will do normal things that normal people do when they are at home,” Devisha added. Surya, who broke Shikhar Dhawan’s record of scoring the highest number of runs in a calendar year for India in T20Is earlier this year, will hope to continue his stellar run on his first trip to Australia and help the Men in Blue bag the title. Going into the tournament, he is ranked as the second-best batter in the T20I rankings and will aim to live up to that billing as well. Source link Originally published at Melbourne News Vine

It’s the batting and all-rounder positions that would be the most hotly contested for Australia on the World Cup with tempo trio Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins already in robust type and certainties of choice. The West Indies might be buoyed forward of their World Cup qualifiers by the efficiency of paceman Alzarri Joseph (3-21 off 4) who troubled a lot of the batsmen along with his tempo and bounce. Warner was in supreme type. He has all the time loved the ball coming onto the bat on the Gabba and was in a position to free his arms to play his trademark pull photographs and slashes by the covers.
