Jennifer Grimyser in Zing Magazine

Jennifer Grimyser has a new photography project published in the latest issue of Zing Magazine Issue #25 titled "Free or Missing", alongside other incredible artists. This project focuses on pull tabs flyers, which are displayed on telephone poles or bulletin boards. This public messaging format utilizes a simple 8.5" x 11" piece of paper yet the content is playful and practical, yet at time also emotional and tragic.

Brooklyn, NY – Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York is pleased to present an exhibition launching our 2019 Flat File program. Chosen from an open call that attracted a diverse range of artists, the 38 selected represent an array of approaches towards flat media: drawing, collage, printmaking, and photography. In many cases the selected works are emblematic of an artist’s core practice, while for some this work represents a departure from a larger body of work. The small-scale format presented in our program presents an elastic site for play and exploration.

During this exhibition, and throughout the year visitors are welcome to browse and acquire artworks from the flat file. Individual pieces from the program will be selectively highlighted throughout the year. All works can be viewed on our website and a catalog highlighting all artists in the 2019 program is available for purchase on our website and through MagCloud.

The 2019 Flat File features works by: Liz Ainslie, Kumasi J. Barnett, Janine Biunno, Theresa Bloise, Kat Chamberlin, Yen Yen Chou, Jonathan Cowan, Molly Dilworth, Ian Etter, Daniel Goodwin, Jennifer Grimyser, Christine Han, Leslie Hirst, Will Hutnick, Amanda Konishi, Lauren McGill, Nick Naber, Jenene Nagy, Naomi Nakazato, Zahra Nazari, Justin Liam O'Brien, Anna Ortiz, Alison Owen, Kent Rhodebeck, Anna Riley, Leslie Roberts, Kate Russo, Ryan Russo, Emilie Selden, Becca Shmuluvitz, Juna Skenderi, Leah Smith, Kalina Winters, Mie Yim, Seldon Yuan, Stella Zhong, Deborah Zlotsky, and Mark Zubrovich. This year’s flat file was organized by Yael Eban, Rachael Gorchov, Alex Paik, Erika Ranee, and Sun You. Jennifer Grimyser is a New York based artist originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating with a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2006, Grimyser proceeded to earn a MFA from Hunter College in 2013. Her work has been in solo exhibitions at galleries including the Guest Spot, Baltimore, MD; Ground Floor Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Bronx River Art Center, Bronx, NY; and Solo(s) Project House, Newark, NJ.
