The situation now is that, based on the audience feedback from my “Marokon Kauhu” documentary’s July premiere in Kokkola, it was decided to make a new edit that will be about half the length of the original 100 minutes version that was shown at the premiere. The removed sections will possibly become extra materials for the release or even freely available as YouTube videos, depending on what will be agreed between us who contributed to the documentary.
Tilanne on nyt, että Kokkolan heinäkuun ensi-illasta saadun katsojapalautteen perusteella ohjaamani ja käsikirjoittamani ”Marokon Kauhu” -dokkari päätettiin leikata ensi-iltaversiota noin puolta lyhyemmäksi. Leikatut osuudet tulevat mahdollisesti julkaisun lisämateriaaleiksi tai YouTube-videoiksi, aivan riippuen mitä tekijäosapuolten kesken sovitaan.

Now that the Marokon Kauhu drama documentary is finally ready and waiting for its release, my next project is already in the works: a documentary film about the 1941 Continuation War military campaign of the 29th Infantry Regiment that originated from the area of Central Ostrobothnia. At the moment I’m doing it as remote work from Tampere to Kokkola. The narrator of the story is Arppa Airola, who is better known as a singer-songwriter and actor.

The drama documentary that I directed and wrote of the legendary, celebrated and eventually troubled war hero Aarne Juutilainen should soon see the light of the day. This project that started as student work for Voionmaa Institute has been in the works since 2018 and went through several phases of transformation, conceptual reassessment and also extensive re-cuts before we could say we have the final product in our hands.
