Eco protestors block M25 near Heathrow Airport

Two members of Just Stop Oil have scaled one of the gantries on the M25 between junctions 14 and 15 near Heathrow unveiling a banner which says “Just Stop Oil” causing miles of tailbacks.   In a statement, the protesters said that they have declared the M25 as a “site of civil resistance against the UK government” and that “they ask that no one travels on this motorway from Wednesday to Friday this week as they will be blocking the highway.”   The group are demanding that the government calls an immediate halt to new oil and gas projects in the UK.   The Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that the motorway has been closed between the two junctions and that officers remain on the scene.   #m25 #motorway #closed #motorwayclosed #closedmotorway #m4 #m40 #traffic #heavytraffic #heathrow #lhr #protestors Read the full article

Yesterday, I (@neiljb898103d ) attended a public meeting hosted by Croydon Communities Consortium, at St Michael's, Croydon. @metropolitanpolicelondon / @metropolitanpolice/ @metropolitan_police_ / @metropolitanpoliceservices/ @metropolitan_police_'s Chief Inspector (Craig Knight) attended last nights meeting to answer questions. I (@neiljb898103d) contributed to the meeting by asking the Chief Inspector if 1) any citizen has presented a better idea or means (to stop and search) for prevention of crimes involving weapons (implying that I (@neiljb898103d) support section 60's_stop and search- having been stopped and searched at least twice). 2) asking if (in @metropolitanpolicelondon / @metropolitanpolice/ @metropolitan_police_ / @metropolitanpoliceservices/ @metropolitan_police_ 's crimes statistics) knife/ weapon related crimes have fallen since implementation of section 60_stop and search (implying that section 60 is successful, and works as crime prevention, and agreeing that it detours people from carrying weapons). 3) asking if the for coming media promotions being produced by @metropolitanpolicelondon / @metropolitanpolice/ @metropolitan_police_ / @metropolitanpoliceservices/ @metropolitan_police_ will incorporate awareness for the citizen, E.G. a citizen is not in any trouble when being stopped and searched under section 60, and highlighting that police will not delay a citizen any longer than necessary whilst section 60's_stop and search is being conducted. And for the other points or issues of citizen concern(s) be addressed etc. I (@neiljb898103d) would hope that Metropolitan police and other police constabularies will make documentary mediations to make citizens aware of what section 60 is, and why it is. In my opinion, I (@neiljb898103d) would think that a documentary in media will assure citizens who have been, and are upset, angry and worried about section 60, that police have, and are helping to prevent weapon linked crimes.
