Rewatching cw’s Nancy Drew season 4 and I’m so fucking pissed off about the Alice plotline still. Like they invented a black girl who’s had a lonely life (or at least says she doesn’t know who she was but that someone telling her they didn’t want her to go wasn’t something she got to experience when she was alive) just to fridge her in an absolutely horrifying way?? Usually the writers are very sensitive with telling stories compassionately but this one just feels gross because it feels like it ONLY exists for Ace to have a plot to deal with for a few episodes so that Nancy and Tristan can have a thing and that Nancy and Ace have another thing to overcome together. Idk rewatching season 4 I’ve not really enjoyed Ace’s character much because he seems so cut off from the rest of the Drew Crew and it’s hard to care about Nace. Just, ugh. How absolutely dare they write Alice this plot. It makes me really mad and uncomfortable.

finally watched the Nancy Drew finale. I loved the ending, but I can't say I'm not disappointed. Though I absolutely love the happy ending they gave us, their reconciliation felt rushed and it was frustrating. Ace acted like he hated her at the beginning of the finale, had one chat with Nick and suddenly forgave her. however their reunion made me cry and their joyful smiles when they realized they really did break the curse just ... perfect. I liked HOW they broke the curse too, I think it was rather fitting for Nace.

my main disappointment really falls under where the storyline seemed to fall in the last episodes of the entire series. it felt so pointless to watch Nancy be with Tristan, or Ace with a GHOST. and the entire plot about making Ace forget he killed Alice just was a waste of storyline. they could have done so much more and kept Nace FRIENDS and together the whole time, but instead they just drove them apart without any real reason why. I know it being canceled had a lot to do with it, but it just felt so pointless. I had a lot more faith in the writers than I should have I guess.

however the ending was beautiful. I obviously wish they had given us a whole episode where the drew crew figured out what was next. we could have gotten more Nace as a couple and maybe even got more explanation on where everyone was going, or even a flashforward of them all together again down the road. however for a series finale, I am grateful. I have experienced much more traumatic and depressing finales. this one gave closure, happiness and joy, and we got to know Ace is in FACT a Hardy so 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 how could I ask for more.

we got nace together and happy and I guess that's all I can really ask for. 💛 its been a good run with the Drew Crew and I will very deeply miss them. they were the found family we all wanted to be a part of, and them giving us the drew crew as ALL being soulmates was a perfect ending to it all.
