Dutch Fashion Design Prizes 2018

It’s that season of the year again! It’s raining (fashion) design prizes in The Netherlands! There are many winners, so we will only mention the fashion designers (just because we can). Bas Kosters was awarded with the annual ‘Fashion Stipend’ by the Prins (Prince) Bernhard Cultuurfonds (Culturefund). Johannes Offerhaus, Maison the Faux, Scheuller de Waal and Lisa Konno were the fashion designers amongst the 24 winners of the ‘Dutch Design Awards 2018’

Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds

Thanks to a gift from an anonymous patron, the ‘Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium‘ of €50,000 is awarded annually. The stipend is meant for talented, Dutch fashion designers who excel in artistic quality, to develop themselves artistically and professionally. There is also a distinguishing sign attached to the ‘Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium’: a necklace designed by Atelier Ted Noten that is passed on from receiver to recipient.

Three cash prizes will be presented to the young talents Lisa Konno, Olivier van Herpt and Manon van Hoeckel on Thursday 28 June during the festive Dutch Design Award Night.

“EINDHOVEN – For the 24 winners of the Dutch Design Awards 2018, bringing about change is the most important motivator. None of the designers bow to the pressure of prevailing conventions, structures, systems or patterns (of thinking). Designers draw upon traditional design traits such as playfulness, or inventive narrative concepts as easily as their socially-engaged and disruptive view of the world according to the jury. This 16th edition of Dutch Design Awards presents several prizes per category. The work of all category winners will be shown during Dutch Design Week (20-28 October 2018).
