Picking trends from Spring/Summer 2021 Fashion Week.
For my third trend I decided on the ‘Silver’ look which is shown in some catwalk shoots above.
Image 1, Image 3, Image 4 - Shows catwalk images from Paco Rabanne’s Ready-to-wear collection for Paris SS21.
Image 2 - Shows catwalk image from Louis Vuitton’s Ready-to-wear collection for Paris SS21.
In Vogues words: “The common denominator of the Paco Rabanne, Burberry and Louis Vuitton fashion shows? A silvery glow. The new wardrobe combines new energy and old classics resulting in a barrage of sequins, moveable spikes and sexy ribbing in mesh and crystals.”
This trend unlike the others, is based on the materials used and the impact that they have on the garment. I chose this trend as not only is it another fierce and bold way of developing a garment, it gave connotations of the 1950s and the era of rock and roll. I wanted to choose a trend that linked both my previous work on the history of fashion with the work I will be producing later on in my unit. I found that this ‘silver’ trend worked perfectly as it complements the ‘rock and roll’ of the 50s seen in my previous mood board work.

It is good time to invest in gold and silver considering the sharp decline. However, one should be careful and wary of the fact that while the gold price has decreased, the rupee has depreciated too in value. And as opposed to the international market price of gold, the difference in the Indian price is not as high due to the weakening rupee.
