Retorno de Audi al Dakar en duda por ajustes del reglamento
Audi tuvo un desastroso Dakar 2023 en el que no pudo luchar por el triunfo luego de grandes accidentes de Carlos Sainz y Stephane Peterhansel y variados problemas mecánicos para Mattias Ekstrom. El revolucionario proyecto del prototipo híbrido Audi RS Q e-tron ha logrado emparejar a Toyota y Prodrive en algunas etapas, pero no ha resistido en competencia en ninguna de sus dos presentaciones dakarianas. Ahora, Audi no tiene claridad de que quiera continuar invirtiendo en esta plataforma luego de considerar que los reglamentos no los favorecen en el Equilibrio de Tecnología o Performance.
Este es un tema que ya fue polémico durante el mismo Dakar, cuando en plena carrera, FIA y ASO le reajustaron la potencia a Audi con 8 kW extra (10,7 HP) para la Etapa 5 luego de evaluar la telemetría de las primeras cuatro etapas. Esto motivó fuertes declaraciones de Nasser Al-Attiyah en redes sociales diciendo que estaban casi ensuciando la carrera y regalándola al rival. No duró mucho esto, ya que fue en la Etapa 6 donde tanto Sainz como Peterhansel quedaron fuera de carrera, en algo no relacionado con el balance de performance, pero que Audi aparentemente siente que fue por sus pilotos empujando más allá de las capacidades del auto por un injusto equilibrio tecnológico.
Actualmente, Audi se encuentra en conversaciones con FIA y ASO para lograr un reglamento más justo para los T1.U como el RS Q e-tron. En declaraciones con Marca, Rohl Michl de Audi Sport calificó las negociaciones como constructivas, pero a pesar de esto, Audi no tiene planificado participar en ninguna prueba del Mundial de Rally Raid FIA W2RC al que se habían inscrito, salvo por ahora el cierre en el Rally de Marruecos y no está asegurada su participación en el próximo Dakar.
Carlos Sainz ha señalado que si Audi está presente en el próximo Dakar estará con ellos, pero ya se ha abierto a correr para otro fabricante buscando su cuarta corona. Los otros pilotos del equipo han sido habilitados para correr para otras organizaciones esta temporada, con Mattias Ekstrom disputando el Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge en la clase T3 con South Racing y ahora Stephane Peterhansel anunciando una carrera en motos con una Yamaha Ténéré en la clase Experience en el Morocco Desert Challenge.

In less than 24 hours, the first big motorsports event of the year starts, the Rally Dakar 2024. And with it, the new season of the FIA W2RC.

This year, it might get interesting with a few new things, compared to last year. First, there is the 48 hour stage, that is basically a extremely long stage with four night camps on the route, and the drivers have to stop at the next camp, after a specific time, to rest for the night. In the morning they'll have to continue the race from there and the time will continue to run. There won't be any service from their crew at night. It's basically the evolution of the marathon stage.

Nasser Al-Attiyah will be driving one of the Prodrive Hunter this year and is now a teammate of Sebastien Loeb. Which means one of the best rally pilots ever and one of the best rally raid pilots ever are now driving for the same team. It will be interesting to see who'll be the better one, but my prediction is Nasser Al-Attiyah.

Nasser's seat in the Toyota Hilux now goes to Seth Quintero from the USA. He was one of the top drivers, in the last two years, in the T3 category for lightweight prototypes. I think he is a good addition to the team and will make a good job. If he will be racing for the win in his first T1+ year is hard to answer, but I'd give him a year, instead of thinking he can win this year.

Will Audi finally be able to demonstrate that a electric car can win the Dakar? The car is definitely fast enough, and also the drivers are, especially with Stephane Peterhansel and Carlos Sainz. But what about the reliability? That was the big weakness in the last two years, maybe they will finally have a Dakar without too many problems. If yes, they will probably win.

Joan Barreda Bort is now driving for Hero. Will he finally win his first Dakar, or will he once again, lose it because of one of his many mistakes and crashes? He is fast enough for the win, he just needs to reduce his mistakes and maybe take a bit less risk.
Or will the win go back to KTM, after Honda won last year? The bike category will be as interesting as never before, at least if you take the last 20 years.

The truck category will get very unpredictable again. The second year without Kamaz and the third year without MAZ means that the Iveco of the DeRooy team and the czech MM Technology Iveco, driven by Martin Maczik, will be the big favorites. But Ales Loprais is always good for a surprise with his Praga.

Bhe, l'ultima foratura in mezzo al nulla 2 giorni fa. Certo conduceva lo a classifica in vantaggio ma avrebbe segnato se non il sorpasso almeno una forte perdita di tempo...e l'altro equipaggio audi di è fermato e ha dato le gomme a lui
Credo che a un certo punto Peterhansel fosse senza gomme perche' le aveva date tutte a Carlos 😂
Cmq Loeb si meritava di vincere (a parere mio) - onore a Carlos e tutto il resto, perche' la Dakar non e' una passeggiata, ma ad un certo punto Audi aveva dato team orders ad Ekstrom (?) di fare da apri pista per Carlos per un paio di stage, Stephane che ha dovuto sacrificare le gomme etc... Una vittoria un po' regalata eh

Nasser Al-Attiyah se sigue escapando con victoria en la Etapa 5 del Dakar 2023
El qatarí Nasser Al-Attiyah no quiere que se le escape una quinta victoria en el Dakar y hoy ganó la Etapa 5 para extender su ventaja en la clasificación general ahora a 22 minutos sobre Stephane Peterhansel. El piloto de Toyota Gazoo Racing está en la mitad de una polémica por sus críticas a la decisión de la FIA de darle 11 HP extra a Audi a partir de hoy pero parece que eso no ha afectado su rendimiento deportivo completando una sólida especial. Carlos Sainz y Peterhansel han completado el podio diario para Audi, en tanto que Yazeed Al-Rajhi fue cuarto, pero cedió casi 9 minutos con Nasser con lo que cae a la P3 general y queda a 27 minutos de la punta.
Nasser sigue haciendo un excelente rally de administración de su ventaja, que comenzó cuando el rally se dividió y lo dejó a él y a Sainz muy alejados del resto. Al día siguiente, Sainz tuvo problemas de suspensión y Nasser quedó solo al frente. El qatarí sabe mejor que ninguno como ir lo suficientemente rápido para mantener controlada la ventaja y así, la distancia con los pilotos de Audi y Al-Rajhi se ha mostrado bastante estable en torno a los 20 minutos con el transcurrir de los días.
La historia del día han sido los accidentes de Laia Sanz, en los primeros kilómetros de la especial y Sebastien Loeb en los últimos momentos hacia la meta. En el caso de Laia, según la organización ha sido un golpe bastante violento con varias vueltas de campana, pero aunque originalmente se asumía que la catalana estaba fuera de carrera ha logrado armar el Astara y está avanzando lentamente en los primeros Waypoint intentando llegar a la meta. En el caso de Loeb fue un vuelco más suave, faltando poco para terminar y ayudado por una camioneta ha logrado poner su Prodrive Hunter de vuelta en cuatro ruedas y salir a terminar la especial cediendo unos 20 minutos cuando tenía chances de ganar el día.
El brasileño Lucas Moraes sigue demostrando su valía en su debut y se ubica sexto en la clasificación general luego de ser P7 hoy.
