The more time passes, the more I am convinced that TLSPs will never come back or perhaps in the very distant future. The Car is an album very similar to the sounds of the duo and I find it difficult that they can come back with a third album with the genre of the previous one. I feel like Alex has sort of found his genre and things to draw inspiration from and Miles currently does a completely different genre than what AM does. Alex has clear ideas and I believe that at the moment he is thinking about himself, he is determined to continue with this style, I have no doubt that in the future he will be able to change again but it is very difficult that he returns as in 2016
(ugh i'm so late this was sent like. MONTHS ago but life has been hectic)
anyways, i think as fans we really have no way of knowing whether tlsp will ever actually come back with a third album. of course we can all hope for it to happen, but in the end the only people who have a say on it are - you guessed it - miles and alex themselves. and although i agree on the fact that their latest albums were different from one another, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll *always* stick to those styles. they're always evolving as musicians and that's what makes their music good, and yeah you could certainly say the latest albums (tbhc+the car / coup de grace+change the show) are much more mature and elaborate than their earlier stuff (which is normal because they've grown as artists and people), that still doesn't mean they've "arrived" as artists. they'll keep changing and maturing and evolving in their style, and who knows what they'll release next with their solo projects.
(also, although i partly agree on the fact that their current styles are different, i wouldn't say they're so inherently opposite from each other??? although the "jazz" vibes in change the show are very much absent from the car, i can't help but think of songs such as 'coming of age' and 'constantly' which are very close in sound to songs they've written together or that alex has been recommending over the years. and although right now he doesn't make that kind of music himself, it doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate it/wouldn't consider ever making something like that. vice versa, the same applies to miles) (we also have to take into consideration the fact that those two have influenced each other so much over the years, both with their solo stuff and tlsp - see the strings, which are a crucial part of the car and which are an obvious and natural evolution of the iconic tlsp strings)
plus, the fact that their solo styles are different rn doesn't mean they wouldn't mix well! those two work magic when they're together. they're so talented and they bring the best out of each other, they could literally make a masterpiece out of mixing those two styles or even creating a new one that is shared between the two of them. there are points in common they could easily play on - for instance, the very strong bond vibes they've been hinting at ever since eycte. when it comes to them, the possibilities are quite literally endless - they don't have to stick to anything (not to their solo styles, and not to their 2008 or 2016 ones either) because the point of tlsp is and always has been pure freedom of creation. the art they make together doesn't have to appeal to a pre-written rule. tlsp is the safe space where they can be completely free to do whatever they want, together, and that's exactly what makes this project so beautiful.
now to be practical... i sincerely doubt they'll be back in 2024, unless they've already been working on tlsp3 secretly - which i don't think is the case. they don't really have much time before 2024 comes, and with alex touring for the car for the better part of 2023 and miles being busy with (pre-)recording of mk5 (or at least already working on it), throwing tlsp3 into the mix would be quite difficult to deal with.
that being said, i can't even begin to express how much i'd love for them to be back as soon as possible. but aside from that, i'm willing to wait as much as i'll have to, no matter how long it takes - as long as they come back in the end, and i'm 100% convinced they will. we just have to give them the time they need. and remember, anon: hope is the last to die!

according to alex Jamie had a positive influence on tbhc and the car, and matt is an incredible drummer (he has shit personally tho lol) so they do something // Matt is a great drummer indeed but Jamie's contributions are only moon's side boob and moog synthesizer
Exactly! Plus Matt is not the only good drummer out there. I know one whose godfather was Muddy Waters. He grew up with music his whole life, he just didn’t become as famous as Matt.

TRNSMT, LYON…. were plus gold. Even the South American 2019 dates were better than this entire tour. Even with his break down it was better than now. Yes, King's Theater was the only best gig then it was it. In 2018 he was more excited to play again with the Monkeys and had more enthusiasm, now even there was enough years apart again he doesn't seem in the true mood. Especially since November last year. Maybe the pandemic did something with his psyche too like with others but the problem with Alex is he still doesn't seem to go get help/therapy. ////
as always some of you always complaining about everything. tbh&c tour was only good until before he shaved his head, after that, it was unsuffrivel to see him on stage, he always looked drunk, unmotivated and walked awkwardly on stage. The Car tour was very good until November. But on the return of the second leg, he looked nice too, the shows were pretty praised by the press in all the countries of Europe that the tour passed by, I think he became tired and monotonous when he found himself doing many shows at once, An interesting tip is, don't watch concert videos, especially if you bought a ticket to go to one, your experience will be unique and you won't leave venue disappointed.
You're entitled to your opinion, but this mod saw him in New York the day after he shaved his head during TBHC and it was a great show

Since men are simple, & he's not dumb and knows how to get therapy, it's actually pretty easy for him to just change his ways. But he started to show his issues in hidden messages through his work to the public with "Bourne Identity", "TBHC" Album, till now to The Car, starting from 2015/16 (ironically after the second Alexa try). I think this could show he's slowly trying to get out of the fantasy world he has been in. But he still slips like with the pap pics. The only thing which brings him down is the person in the situationship, when keeping distance he looks well (even in the same room, main thing is that she's on the other side of the room, as you can see at the NY after party pics lol). He maybe just wants to keep writing diss tracks about dumb women while having them as a plus one, like a game he likes to play.
Not sure I can follow you.

// The Hollywood Cemetery was pure gold! I agree, the shows from tbhc tour were much better than the car. Every performance better than the other. It went downhill since 2019. For me it's painful to watch South American dates. Like I think the only good show this tour was from King's Theatre. And Sheffield was good too.
maybe he doesn’t feel like the vibe of the album suits a wild show?

Plus looking at their albums and music videos pre-AM they were never particularly sexual or dealt with women at the centre of it. // I think that was the whole point of AM. A sexual album. TBHC and The Car don’t have sexualized women in their MVs or lyrics
I know! Again, my point! We have EYCTE though which has a particular view of women. The Car too has dismissive or less respectful lyrics on women.

More like a second Je T'aime Moi Non Plus. lmao // I think she really thought it was all gonna happen. I mean she wanted him during his eycte era. He kissed his Taylor tattoo while singing sweet dreams and during the dream synopsis he went to her and hugged her. She never saw all the melancholia and saddens and nostalgia in The Car (album) coming. Be careful what you wish for, I guess
Well, I guess then she didn't pay much attention to TBHC, huh? lol
You think this was taken Rock en Seine 2016 or 2017? lmao She's ice cold!

The Car sold 122k copies in the first run week while TBHC sold 77k. THE car was much more praised by musical critics press than TBHC the label is satisfied because they know exactly that the album wasn't made to be commercial and as the band is their big source of income, they have autonomy to record whatever they want as long as it is delivered on the stipulated date. I still think that the label should have promoted The Car more, it lacked some covers of magazines like Rolling Stone UK and more TV Show. //
OK but these are the numbers from the first week, now the album has totally disappeared from the charts in all countries including the UK which didn't happen with the previous album. Plus add the fact that it's the band's first album not to reach number one in the UK chart because Taylor Swift's album was number one, I don't see that as a good thing. The record company is to blame for the fact that it wasn't publicized in the best way, but for their part, the band didn't do much publicity either, apart from the first week of its release.
I don’t think they really care about that kind of publicity/numbers though. At least not enough to change their PR MO

As much as Taylor really made me sick as a person and how she behaved with fans at least she was consistent when TBHC came out, promoted it via Instagram and really cared while Louise posted backstage stories for "Body Paint" and The Car vinyl to say "je t'aime" and "mon amour" to Alex. I mean, it's like reminding us "hey, if you forgot he's still MY man" like he's an expensive car to show off that no one can afford
Well, exactly. Plus it’s not like he’s looking at her Instagram.
