Why Knuckles the Echidna is my favorite Sonic Character

Now I'll start by saying I'm still very new to the Sonic Fandom. So don't expect any hard core character & backstory analysis.

My first experience with Sonic the Hedgehog was random compilation videos of the 2014 Sonic Boom TV show.

I still have not sat down and watched the show in its entirety yet. However, I thought Knuckles was really funny and I actually related to him a ton!

Specifically this scene right here:

It may be stupid, but its the exact kind of thing that happens to me all the time! And how just before he was so eager and excited to read the letter regardless! I actually really connected with him in this moment.

As well as this classic scene:

Yeah, its hilarious. But based on Sonic phrasing I would 100% think the same thing as Knuckles did! Would I have just picked up the baby ready to puree an infant? No. But I definitely would have shouted something like "PUT THE BABY IN THE BLENBDER?!"

However as I got deeper into the Sonic fandom, I discovered that fans considered this version of Knuckles to be a dumbed down comic relief characterization. And that this wasn't at all what Knuckles was really like.

Then I saw the 2022 movie Sonic the Hedgehog 2

This is the real Knuckles the fans apparently loved. And I loved him too!

While I don't personally relate or see myself in this version of Knuckles at all, I still really like him a whole lot! I really enjoy this kind of serious solider character. Its not the same as Shadow the Hedeghog, but I'm not sure how to explain the difference.

I have not seen the new series on Paramount+ yet.

However I do plan to purchase a free-trial of the subscription service so that I may see the new content of my beloved Echidna soon!

Overall, I still have a lot to learn about Knuckles the Echidna and the Sonic Franchise as a whole. But as I continue to read fanfictions, watch comic dubs, look at fan-art, and watch gameplay videos, I discover more and more reasons why Knuckles the Echidna is my favorite character!
