Turbinoplasty Surgery
Turbinoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at addressing nasal congestion and breathing difficulties caused by enlarged turbinates. The turbinates are bony structures covered in soft tissue located inside the nose, responsible for filtering, warming, and humidifying the air we breathe. When the turbinates become swollen due to allergies, chronic sinusitis, or other nasal conditions, it can lead to nasal obstruction and reduced airflow. Turbinoplasty involves the reduction or repositioning of the turbinates to improve nasal airflow and alleviate breathing problems.
MedFirst ENT Centre, located in Delhi, India, offers top-quality turbinoplasty surgery performed by highly skilled ENT surgeon and their professional medical team.
Turbinoplasty - Benefits and Risks
Benefits of Turbinoplasty Surgery: Improved Breathing: Turbinoplasty can significantly enhance nasal airflow, leading to better breathing and reduced nasal congestion. Relief from Nasal Obstruction: Patients may experience relief from chronic nasal obstruction, leading to improved sleep quality and overall comfort. Better Quality of Life: Improved nasal function can enhance the quality of life, allowing patients to engage in daily activities more comfortably. Enhanced Sinus Health: Turbinoplasty may complement the treatment of chronic sinusitis, as improved nasal airflow can aid in sinus drainage.
Risks and Potential Complications: Bleeding: Some patients may experience minor bleeding after the surgery, which is usually temporary and manageable. Infection: As with any surgery, there is a small risk of infection, but proper preoperative and postoperative care can help minimize this risk. Scarring: In rare cases, the surgery may lead to scarring or adhesions inside the nose, but this can be addressed with appropriate medical care. Nasal Dryness: Some patients may experience temporary nasal dryness following the procedure, which can be alleviated with nasal moisturizers.
The Procedure Process
Before the surgery, patients undergo a thorough examination by an ENT specialist to determine the extent of nasal obstruction and the suitability of turbinoplasty. The procedure can be performed under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference and the surgeon’s recommendation.
Anaesthesia: The surgeon administers anaesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort during the procedure.
Turbinoplasty Technique: The surgeon may employ various techniques to reduce or reposition the turbinates, such as radiofrequency ablation, submucosal resection, or partial turbinectomy. Special instruments like Microdebrider, Coblation, or Laser may also be used.
Recovery: After the procedure, patients are monitored in a recovery area to ensure a smooth awakening from anaesthesia.
Post-operative Care: Patients receive instructions on caring for the nose, managing pain, and avoiding certain activities during the initial recovery phase. Recovery takes about one to two weeks.
Before and After Care for Turbinoplasty Surgery
Before Turbinoplasty Surgery: Medical Evaluation: Patients will undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation to assess their overall health and suitability for the surgery.
Medication Review: The surgeon will review the patient’s current medications and may advise temporary adjustments to certain drugs before the procedure. Blood thinners are sometimes stopped a couple of days before the surgery. BP and Thyroid medicines should continue.
After Turbinoplasty Surgery: Nasal Hygiene: Patients will be instructed on proper nasal hygiene, including saline rinses, to promote healing and reduce the risk of infection.
Activity Restrictions: Patients may need to avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting during the initial recovery period.
Follow-up Appointments: Regular follow-up appointments will be scheduled to monitor the healing process and assess the surgical outcomes.
Recovery Timeline:
The recovery timeline can vary from patient to patient, but most individuals can expect to resume normal daily activities within a few days to a week after the surgery. Full recovery and optimal results may take several weeks.
Cost and Insurance Information-Turbinoplasty
The cost of turbinoplasty surgery can depend on factors such as the geographical location, the complexity of the procedure, and individual patient needs including their personal preference for a technique. Thyroid : types, symptoms and treatment
What is thyroid?
The thyroid is a small, butterfly shape having gland. It is located at the base area of neck part, below the Adam’s apple in the body.
Tumblr media
Thyroid is a part of an intricate network of glands named the endocrine system. The endocrine system plays role in coordinating many of  body’s activities. This thyroid gland produces hormones that can regulate the metabolism of body. Hyperthyroidism takes place in the situation when the amount of thyroid production is too much.
Hypothyroidism take place when the thyroid gets reduced too little. The common disease related to thyroid are: Hashimoto’s disease, Graves’ disease, goiter, and thyroid nodules. Goiter Goiter means enlargement of the thyroid glands without any specific reason. It could be related with hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or normally function of thyroid. Goiter can affect other parts of body as well. Thyroid cancer Thyroid cancer is mostly seen in adult women than men or young people. There are different types of thyroid cancer, which depends upon the specific cell type within the thyroid that has turned into cancerous. Most cases of thyroid cancer can have prognosis and higher rates of survival,  when they are diagnosed in the early stages of disease. Thyroid nodules Nodules are the lumps or abnormal masses which are seen in the thyroid. Benign cysts, benign tumors or less commonly by cancers of the thyroid produce nodules. They are seen single or multiple. If they are too much large, they can cause symptoms related to compression of nearby structures in the body.
What are the treatments available for thyroid diseases?
Thyroid medications Medications are given for replacing the missing thyroid hormones in hypothyroidism. Synthetic thyroid hormones are given in pill form by mouth. When patient is having hyperthyroidism, medications are be used to decrease production of thyroid hormone. The medicines also prevent its release from the gland. Increased heart rate can also be regulated using these medications. Radioactive ablation can be performed if medicines doesn't work. In ablation doses of iodine are given. These doses are labelled with radioactivity which selectively destroys the thyroid tissue and cures the disease. Thyroid surgery

Breast Cancer Treatment Guidelines & The Preventive Measures
Breast cancer, the most common invasive cancer in women that takes many lives every year. Isn’t it feels so sad and unfair?
Although death is inevitable, we don’t want to die with sickness. The good thing is that the advances in screening and Breast Cancer Treatment Guidelines have improved survival rates dramatically.
If you are unaware of the symptoms then it might be difficult to reduce the risk factors. Therefore, we, at Canwinn Foundation are going to share some important things along with Breast Cancer Treatment Plan.
Tumblr media
Breast Cancer and its treatments
Breast Cancer Treatment Plan is totally based on several factors:
· type and stage of the cancer
· patient’s sensitivity to hormones
· age, overall health, and choices of the person
More commonly, Breast cancer has been treated with surgeries that can be either Lumpectomy or Mastectomy. The process of choosing the surgery depends on both the diagnosis and individual preference.
Read More: NGO for Cancer Patients
Breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) removes cancer and a part of healthy tissue around it. This surgery can be helpful in preventing the spread of cancer. However, it is only true if the tumor is small in size and can be easily separated from its surrounding tissue.
Mastectomy is surgery to remove the breast completely. However, a simple mastectomy involves removing the lobules, ducts, fatty tissue, nipple, areola, and some skin.
There are therapies available to treat breast cancer in order to completely get rid of it.
Radiation therapy – Meant to kill the remaining cancer cells, radiation therapy uses radiation treatment to kill them after surgery.
Chemotherapy – Surgeries, alone, cannot completely remove all cancer cells. Also, these cells are undetectable in routine modalities of diagnosis and remain dormant inside. Therefore, to remove the chances of reactivation of these deadly cells, doctors prefer using Chemotherapy.
The therapy requires the prescription of cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs to kill cancer cells.
In addition, there are two types of Chemotherapy:
The therapy that is done after the surgery, is called adjuvant chemotherapy.
Whereas, the therapy that is done before surgery to shrink the tumor and make its removal easier is called Neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
Hormone blocking therapy
Hormone-sensitive cancers are meant to treat specific hormonal treatments to block hormones produced in our bodies. This particular therapy is an option for those patients who are not suitable candidates for surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy.
Few examples of hormone-blocking therapy medications may involve:
· tamoxifen
· aromatase inhibitors
· ovarian ablation or suppression
· Goserelin, a luteinizing hormone-releasing agonist drug that suppresses the ovaries

Symptoms – Swelling of the Face and Neck
Although, the main reason for swelling on the face and neck can be Lung Cancer. The theory suggests, when a tumor (malignancy) presses on the vein that goes from the head to the heart, it causes swelling. This symptom is also known as superior vena cava syndrome or superior vena cava obstruction. The term superior vena cava is the name of the vein that carries blood from the head and arms to the heart. What happens is that this vein passes near the upper part of the right lung, as well as near lymph nodes in the chest cavity, therefore, Cancer in the lymph nodes may interfere with the functioning of the superior vena cava, blocking the normal flow of blood.
Not only Breast Cancer can cause superior vena cava obstruction, but, lymphoma, testicular cancer, thyroid cancer, and a thymus tumor does too. Moreover, the side effect of radiation therapy to the chest cavity & other therapies can also cause the swelling on face & neck.
For Breast Cancer patients: To prevent swelling on face, you can contact Canwinn Foundation.
How to reduce breast cancer risk
However, there is no way to prevent Breast cancer, you can reduce the risk with some certain lifestyles.
1. For a female with the age of 50 or above, screening mammography (X-ray) once in a year will detect disease in an early stage. Therefore, the disease can be cured easily.
2. You should visit any health care provider monthly for the regular clinical breast examination. If you are noticing any lump, it is important to get it checked asap.
Lifestyle alteration is demanded that will further lessen the risk of breast cancer:
· Plan first birth before the age of 30
· Quit smoking
· Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
· Follow a physically active lifestyle
· Follow a healthful diet containing plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables
Above all, Canwinn Foundation is here to help you fight against Cancer. We take every step to cure your illness.
Be healthy!

If there is a trouble with this Normal Heartbeat
System the person might experience heart rhythm disorders.
Some of the heart rhythm disorder causes are mentioned below:
● Heart failure & heart attack
● Congenital heart defects

● There are different arrhythmia types out of which the most common is Atrial fibrillation which arises when the normal beating in the upper chambers of the heart is irregular, and blood doesn’t flow properly the way it should from the atria (upper chambers) to the lower chambers of the heart.
Fast heart patterns such as supra ventricular tachycardia (SVT), inappropriate sinus tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation (AF), ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) are called as tachycardia. Whereas, slow heart patterns such as AV heart block, bundle branch block and tachy brady syndrome are called brady cardias.

● sweating
● chest pain
 ● collapse and cardiac arrest (in extreme cases)
Arrhythmia diagnosis involves a detailed interview which includes the patient’s medical history,
family history, diet, and lifestyle. This includes few tests such as:
● Blood and Urine tests – to check the patient’s blood count and liver, thyroid, and kidney function and also to check for electrolytes and other chemicals.
● ECG (Electrocardiogram) – to record and check How Heart Functions and the electrical activity and rhythm of the patient’s heart.
● Holter monitor – to record the patient’s heart for one or two days. When symptoms are seen a button can be pressed which allows the doctor to see what heart rhythms were present at that moment.
● Echocardiogram – This is an ultrasound scan that checks the pumping action of the Patient’s heart.
● Chest X-Ray - the images help the doctor check the state of the patient’s heart and the lungs.
● Tilt-Table test - This test is recommended if the patient experiences fainting, dizziness or lightheadedness, and if the ECG and the Holter fails to diagnose any arrhythmias.
● Electrophysiological testing (EP study) – EP study procedure records the electrical system of the heart and helps to determine the type of arrhythmia, why it is happening and how it might respond to treatment.
● Heart Catheterization – This test provides information on how well the heart is working.
A thin, hollow tube called a catheter is inserted into a large blood vessel, usually in the groin.
Arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment is very necessary and needs to be attended with higher priority if it is serious. Some of the common treatments are:
● Electrical ‘shock’ therapy (defibrillation or cardio version)
● Implanting a short-term heart pacemaker.
● Medications given through a vein (intravenous) or by mouth.
● Medications called anti-arrhythmic drugs may be used to prevent an arrhythmia from happening again.
● Cardiac ablation is used to destroy areas in your heart that causes heart rhythm problems
● An implantable cardiac defibrillator is placed for patients who are at high risk of sudden cardiac death.
An ICD monitors the heart rhythms. If the ICD feels dangerous rhythms, it provides shocks. This treatment is called defibrillation. Most new ICDs can act both as an artificial pacemaker and a defibrillator It can help to control serious arrhythmias, especially those that can cause sudden cardiac arrest and death. Many ICDs also record the heart’s electrical patterns when there is an abnormal heartbeat which helps the doctor plan future treatment. ICDs have proven to be helpful in preventing sudden death in patients with known, sustained ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation. An artificial pacemaker is a small electrical device that is used to prevent a heart from beating abnormally. It is used to treat the abnormal heart rhythms that can cause the heart to beat too slowly or miss beats. An artificial pacemaker is a generator which is made of a battery and computer circuitry that is paced in a metal casing which is implanted under the skin in the upper chest or shoulder region. The wires of the pacemaker are threaded through the veins of the shoulder and are connected to the heart with the help of X-rays. After the wires are connected to the heart they are fixed to the generator. Some pacemakers can also help the chambers of the heartbeat in time.
