MonoDeku with... how about that 'baby's DNA changes' one?
Her daughter looks like a doll. But the eyes of hers are very blue. Izumi holds Tomoe in her arms, studying the little girl as her mother fusses.
“I think we need a DNA test…” Izumi speaks out loud.
“What?” Inko asks her daughter. Izumi looks up at her mother.
“I… her eyes. They’re still blue. His… his eyes weren’t…” Izumi’s voice cracks. Inko pauses and then gives a short nod.
“I see… I will make the call. Who did you sleep with?” Inko demands. Izumi doesn’t answer for a second before she speaks.
“Yamanaka-Sensei fathered Tomoe.” The paling face of her mother brings little joy to Izumi. No, she just holds her daughter, and prays.
It doesn’t take long for them to go to the doctor’s office. It’s common for babies to have their DNA tested, with soulmates being a thing. While you can meet your soulmate organically and a mark will appear, the other way to find if you had one was for any child born to have both the soulmate’s DNA. Even if they had never slept together.
Izumi tells the truth and her Sensei is ambushed by a lie-detecting detective who has the man in handcuffs quickly. Izumi is just thankful for it as Tomoe’s blood is tested.
She’s even more thankful when they declare she does not have Yamanaka’s DNA, though she is theorized to have his Quirk or a form of it.
“Common,” says the doctor. “No one knows why, Quirks are strange and Soulmates stranger. But she has his Quirk, probably with your soulmate’s attached.”
Izumi doesn’t care. No she’s more focused on the doctor declaring that her soulmate’s DNA is in the system thanks to his mother having him tested as a child. She’s scared, very scared. What if her soulmate hates her? What if he looks at Tomoe in disgust? What if he is Quirkist? But Inko presses for a meeting.
They meet a week later, and Izumi locks eyes with Monoma Neito, who looks pale. They stare at each other until Tomoe fusses, and his eyes are drawn to the baby. His entire face softens then.
“She’s beautiful.” He breathes. “What’s her name?”
“Tomoe.” Izumi says, a soft smile beginning to cross her face.
“Beautiful.” He repeats.
Izumi isn’t scared anymore.
