Urei no Shiro : Yamaguchi Kappei (Rene)

I was going through my Japanese songs and this one struck a chord with me for the lockdown vibe. I don’t know how many people know Neoangelique - and it doesn’t really matter, Probably more people know Yamaguchi Kappei. But this is the song of a person who is confined to a particular place for the whole of his life, envying the world outside that he can never go to.

And so this song seemed to fit perfectly for lockdown. Lyrics under cut.

Note - the live performance misses part of the song, but I included the full lyric as included in my CD because it’s pretty. Italic lyrics are not in live.  Also, I’m not responsible for the yt sound quality, not my video.

A powerful Luna track to close the album, definitely the most beautiful song in the album, and she even wrote it herself. Anyway, the demon’s pretty bummed out about the loss of everything he ever had, and of course I do feel somewhat sympathetic because man, the music, but he did kill thousands so he kinda had it coming. What else can I say really, it’s a sad track with Luna on the vocals, that’s the best combination since pizza hut and taco bell. Overall I’d give this album a solid 7. It’s a neat listen, not really mind blowing but it conveys just the right feels for me. Anyway, lyrics down below and see you all next time.

Probably the last one I’ll be doing for a while, since I’ve run out of scans or online lyrics for their albums. I like looking at the kanji because of cases like this album. In the previous track when they say shinigami (reaper) out loud, it’s written down as kokuou (king) and waga otouto (my little brother). Likewise aisuru shoujo is written down as boukoku no hime (princess of a ruined nation). What I’m getting at is: without those kanji, a whole lot of meaning is lost. Anyway, see you all next time!

Hey, I really like your posts on seiyuu challenge. They are so informative. It seems to me that you know a lot about seiyuus in general. I was wondering if you could find me some material on Yamaguichi Kappei? I barely see stuff on him around.

This actually crashed the first two times I made this. I actually had to write this twice. Nonetheless, I’m so happy to receive your ask that I persevered! Sorry if it seems like I cut edges here. I might edit it with pictures and clean it up once my computer doesn’t act like this. I hope you learn something new about him! And thank you for liking my Seiyuu Challenge! Kappei Yamaguchi’s (山口 勝平) real name is Mitsuo Yamaguchi (山口 光雄). He was born May 23rd, 1965 in Fukuoka, Japan, his blood type is B, and he’s 1.6m tall. He’s an actor and voice actor from Fukuoka, Japan. He’s married and has two sons. His skills include drawing and guitar, and his hobbies include climbing, swordplay, and computers.
