I’m too lazy to dig up all the quotes, but one of the things I find interesting about Pemberley in P&P is how it’s gradually built up, both directly (as when Bingley says it couldn’t be replicated) and indirectly (it’s easy to associate it w/ Rosings right up until we see it). 

It’s built up not only in the sense of physical grandeur and elegance, but in something like mystique. When Caroline says Bingley should imitate it and Bingley says it would be impossible, we don’t know why it would be so difficult to imitate it, just that there is some inimitable quality about it. Wickham talks about how grand it is. I think Lady Catherine mentions it when she’s boasting of Georgiana’s stature; it’s the source of the Darcys’ influence and consequence. 

But we don’t know much about what it’s like, specifically, until we actually go there. The distant, private residence that gets built up throughout the story, that the heroine herself finally reaches, is always going to be a revelation. In a different sort of story, it would be the revelation of some dark secret or ominous implications or something. 

But in this story, we already had the revelation of the dark secret, only to undercut it by exposing it as a tissue of lies. But there’s still a certain DUN DUN DUN with the announcement that they’re going to Pemberley, and we do get the grand revelation—

—that Darcy has good taste and is really nice where it matters most. 

IDK, I just find the total reversal of the ~mysterious manor trope a lot of fun.

okay so i just liked the kind of air to love alarm? idk it just made me feel like i was somewhere else bc i felt the production quality was that high. some of it was questionable i do agree w that but also song kang is total heart-eyes 😍 and meteor garden was sweet for like a minute each episode and the rest was me groaning in agony just wishing dong shancai would snipe daoming si’s mother. shancai did so much too?? like four episodes in she won a cooking competition against a girl who had literally been professionally training to impress one of the boys ✋ but shancai literally came from almost nothing. also — i’ve never been more frustrated w a drama than meteor garden like sis was literally dirt poor, came close to being evicted twice and her parents moved back to their fisherman hometown leaving her in shanghai (i think?) to make money bc they couldn’t afford the city but she had the newest phone 🛑✋

the production quality was definitely very high with love alarm, it looked so nice and aesthetic :(( but like,,the storyline ?? when they kissed in the first ep?? i- that was it for me. i couldnt watch it any longer. my best friend  finished it tho and i think she liked it,,so like-- fair.

Hmmm, I had a dream a couple night’s ago that I was in a horror movie with two other people that were using horror movie logic and it was a NIGHTMARE. jasd;lfj LITERALLY. We were getting chased by a wolf and then later another dude and I was like “YALL we CANNOT outrun a WOLF we need to hide and call someone” and they didn’t listen to me and got me killed. It was a whole thing. 0/10 would not recommend
