Blake Shelton And His Wife, Gwen Stefani To Drop Heartfelt Duet, 'Purple Irises,' Ahead Of Valentine’s Day - Country Now
Love is in full bloom for Blake Shelton and his wife, Gwen Stefani who just announced that they have a new love-filled duet coming this Friday, February 9.
Taking to social media on Monday (Feb. 5), the couple revealed that the romantic tune titled “Purple Irises” will be released just in time for Valentine’s Day. Their recent joint post included the cover photo which boasts a retro theme as Stefani and Shelton both sport all-denim looks while looking giddy in the brightly colored living room setting. The country star appears to be plucking his guitar while his other half admires him from the bright yellow striped couch. The background décor features hanging wall art of purple irises to match the name of the song.
Stefani Shares A Teaser of The New Tune
Fans got to hear a sneak peek of the mid-tempo tune through a several clips posted to Stefani’s TikTok account. The pair are seen in the studio, and building out a string of effortless harmonies while celebrating how strong their love is for one another.
“If someone comes along and tries to love you like I love you/ Don’t know what I’d do/ Don’t want to lose you/ If someone comes along and tries to take you, tries to make you/ Don’t let them change your mind/ Wonder why you took a risk/ On a broken heart you cannot fix/ No I never knew a love like this/ Now we’re picking purple irises,” Stefani and Shelton sing on the chorus.
In her caption, she simply wrote “… now we’re picking purple irises 🪻,” while in the comment section added, “we love u guys so excited to share w u 💜💜💜💜💜 gx.”
The pop star was not included in the 2024 panel of coaches, however, fans will have the chance to see her on the stage of several festival this year including Cali Vibes, Coachella, Lovers & Friends and more. Plus, in January, she teased plans to reunite with her former bandmates of the rock band, No Doubt, for an upcoming show. Stefani has yet to share when or where this performance will take
As for Shelton, he’s gearing up to embark on his highly anticipated Back To The Honky Tonk Tour. The 17-date trek launches on February 22 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and will run through March 29 in Wichita, Kansas. The upcoming tour is the follow-up to his 2023 run of the same name.
This year, Shelton will be joined on the tour by Dustin Lynch and Emily Ann Roberts.
Shelton To Return To Oklahoma For Hometown Show
Following the final date of the tour, the Oklahoma native will return to his home state on Saturday, March 30 for a supersized concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum and its education programs.
Shelton will bring his live show to the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the star-studded All for the Hall concert. Joining the Grand Ole Opry member will be Country Music Hall of Fame member Ronnie Dunn, Tony and Emmy Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth, ACM and CMA nominee Wade Hayes and fan-favorite songwriters/performers The Swon Brothers. Additional artists will be added to the lineup in the coming weeks.
All proceeds from the show will go to the nonprofit museum’s education initiatives, which directly served more than 230,000 people through in-person and virtual programs in 2023.

57th Annual CMA Awards/16th Annual Academy OF Country Music Honors/People's Choice Country Awards
So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would like to talk about the latest edition of the CMA Awards (This time the 57th Annual). They originally aired on Wednesday November 8th, 2023 at 8pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) on ABC. And they were co-hosted by Luke Bryan & Peyton Manning. Let's first see what they played for us on this night.
Performances (Who played and what they played for us). Jelly Roll featuring Wynonna Judd - Need a favor. Luke Bryan performing a medley of hits - Huntin', fishin' and lovin' every day -> One margarita -> That's my kind of night -> Play it again -> Country girl (Shake it for me). Ashley McBryde - Light on in the kitchen. Cody Johnson - The painter. Morgan Wallen & Eric Church - Man made a bar. Luke Combs - Where the wild things are. Chris Stapleton - White horse. Jordan Davis - Next thing you know. Lainey Wilson - Wildflowers and wild horses. Dan + Shay - Save me the trouble. Kelsea Ballerini - Leave me again. The War and Treaty - That's how love is made. Tribute to Jimmy Buffett (Kenny Chesney & Mac Mcanally) - Mother Mother Ocean. Tribute to Jimmy Buffett (Zac Brown band & Alan Jackson) - Adios my friend. Tribute to Jimmy Buffett (Alan Jackson & Zac Brown band) - Margaritaville. Old Dominion & Megan Moroney - Can't break up now. Carly Pearce with Chris Stapleton - We don't fight anymore. Tribute to Joe Diffie (Hardy & Morgan Wallen) - John Deere Green. Tribute to Joe Diffie (Hardy, Morgan Wallen, & Post Malone) - Pickup man. Little Big Town (LBT) with Tanya Tucker - Delta Dawn. Jelly Roll with K. Michelle - Love can build a bridge (Judds Tribute).
And who won what awards and who according to MY MSR (Midnight Star Report), who should have won. Single of the Year goes to Luke Combs - Fast car (Good choice, could have also gone to Jordan Davis - Next thing you know). Song of the Year goes to Tracy Chapman - Fast car (Another good choice for this). Vocal duo of the Year goes to Brothers Osborne. (This one should have gone to Dan + Shay). Vocal group of the year goes to Old Dominion (No competition this year). Music video of the year goes to Hardy & Lainey Wilson - wait in the truck. Musical video of the year goes to Hardy & Lainey Wilson - wait in the truck. New artist of the year goes to Jelly Roll (The only competition for him would be Parker McCollum). Album of the year goes to Lainey Wilson - Bell bottom Country. (This should have gone to Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen). Female vocalist of the year goes to Lainey Wilson. She had the most success of any of the female singers this year. Male vocalist of the year goes to Chris Stapleton. This should have gone to Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen. Entertainer of the year goes to Lainey Wilson. This should have gone to Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen.
And that's a wrap for the Show. And on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would give this show a 3 out of 5 stars. There was a lot of people that probably should have won or shouldn't have won as usual. And they don't seem to let as many people perform their songs during their show. Now we need to bounce on to our next award show we will be reviewing. And that will be the 16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors.
Tumblr media
16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors
This show was hosted by Carly Pearce on Monday September 18th, 2023. The show originally aired on Fox at 8pm EST (Eastern Standard Time). Now the awards and performances will be combined for this.
ACM Lift Every Voice Award goes to Breland. ACM Service Award goes to Charlie Cook. Chris Janson - Good vibes. ACM Spirit Award - Charlie Daniels. Billy Ray with Firerose & Travis Denning - Long haired Country Boy. ACM International Award - Kane Brown. Lee Brice - Like I love Country Music. ACM Artist-Songwriter of the Year goes to Hardy. Bailey Zimmerman - Signed, Sober you. ACM Lifting Lives Award goes to Troy Vollhoffer. Dennis Quaid - Fallen. ACM Icon Award - Mike Dungan. Jordan Davis - Buy dirt with Anne Wilson. ACM Poet's Award - Clint Black. Lady A - A bad goodbye. ACM Poet's Award - Mary Chapin Carpenter. Trisha Yearwood - This shirt. ACM Poet's Award - K.T. Oslin. Brandy Clark - 80's Ladies. ACM Service Award - Bill Mayne. Sara Evans - Born to fly. ACM Songwriter of the Year goes to Ashley Gorley. Carly Pearce & Emily Shackleton - What he didn't do. ACM Icon Award - Tim McGraw. Brett Young - Don't take the girl. Nelly - Over and over. ACM Triple Crown Award - Chris Stapleton. The War and Treaty - Cold. Hailey Whitters - Everything she ain't.
And this show with the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would give this show a 2.75 out of 5 stars. There were a lot of people who got awards that I don't really know about. But it was a short show to highlight some careers in Country Music. And onto the first ever People's Choice Country Awards.
Tumblr media
People's Choice Country Awards
This is the 1st ever People's Choice Country Awards and this time hosted by Little Big Town (LBT). And this originally aired on Thursday September 28th, 2023 on NBC.

Group/Duo of 2023 goes to Dan + Shay. Could have also gone to Old Dominion or Parmalee. Blake Shelton covering Toby Keith's Who's your daddy? Country Music Icon - Toby Keith. Toby Keith - Don't let the old man in. Hardy - Truck bed. Collaboration song of the 2023 goes to Save me from Jelly Roll featuring Lainey Wilson. This should have gone to Kane Brown & Kaitlyn Brown - Thank God. Social Country Star of 2023 goes to Blake Shelton. Kelsea Ballerini - Over for me or A mountain with a view. Country Champion - Wynonna. Wynonna - I saw the light in your window tonight -> How'd you get to me? Music video of 2023 goes to Hardy featuring Lainey Wilson - wait in the truck. Dan + Shay - Bigger houses. Male Artist of 2023 goes to Jelly Roll. Could have gone to Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, or Kane Brown. Jelly Roll wins New Artist of 2023. Song of 2023 goes to Jelly Roll - Save me.
And that's a wrap for the first ever People's Choice Country Awards. This one I would give a 2.5 out of 5 stars. This one, they really could have gone without even doing the award show. There is already a lot of Award shows out there. Thanks for taking the time to read all this reviews for 3 award shows. See ya all next time.

Indie Country Recording Artist Andy Pursell Set To Release New Single “Me Myself And The Tide”
Tumblr media
Florida-based singer-songwriter and indie country recording artist Andy Pursell (Southern Dreams Entertainment) announced the scheduled release of his new single “Me Myself & The Tide.”* Written by Victoria Banks, Joe Hanson and Judy Klass, and produced by Mark Dreyer, the track is the second in Pursell’s 2023 waterfall series of releases and will be available via all digital retail outlets and streaming platforms Friday, July 28, 2023. (Presale/pre-save event begins July 14, 2023.) Recorded at Studio 23 Lakeside Recording in Nashville, the track features instrumental performances by award-winning, A-list musicians, including four-time ACM “Steel Guitarist of the Year,” Mike Johnson (Jason Aldean/Carrie Underwood/Jon Pardi/George Strait/Willie Nelson/Merle Haggard), Kevin Grantt (Willie Nelson/Merle Haggard/Colt Ford/Josh Turner) and Mike Rojas (George Strait/Tim McGraw/Brett Eldredge). The pedal steel opener sets the mood for the easy-does-it Caribbean vibe and storyline. Appropriately dressed with “hey-oh’s,” the beachy tune is a sunset postcard of solo seclusion where the beach and the breeze chase the blues away, and heartache is swept out with the tide. “‘Me Myself & The Tide” is a break-up song, with a first-class, one-way ticket to ‘goodbye’,” said Andy Pursell.“The instrumentation and groove paint the ambiance of sand between your toes, swaying palm trees, ocean sunsets, and a long, tall cool one where you can let the heartbreak go.” I WANT TO BE WHERE THE HORIZON IS WIDE WHAT CAN I SAY OH, IT’S HARD TO FEEL LOW WHEN THE SUN IS SO HIGH SALT ON THE RIM SALT ON THE BREEZE BUT THERE AIN’T NO SALT RUNNING DOWN ON MY CHEEKS FROM A GOODBYE TAKING MY TIME TWISTING A LIME JUST ME MYSELF AND THE TIDE The new track follows the success and momentum of Pursell’s recent single “Right Amount Of Wrong” released in March (AT COUNTRY RADIO NOW). Andy will embark on a radio tour in support of the single (including station visits in his home state of Florida, traveling to Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky and Missouri). The corresponding “Right Amount Of Wrong” music video, produced by Jered Allen/Crazy Horse Productions and shot at various locations in Pursell’s hometown of Arcadia, FL, premiered on Country Rebel. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Songs and Live Performances | NBC Insider
Everyone's favorite pairing on The Voice, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, fell in love with more than just their Artists' music when they began appearing together on the show. And while it's a major moment in each season when the Coaches sing with their teams and then their finalists, Shelton and Stefani have gone well beyond singing together with their fellow coaches on the show.
After meeting during Stefani's first time on the show in Season 7, the two really hit it off in Season 9, began to date, and ultimately got married in 2021. In those years, the two have also opted to record and perform four songs together — including on The Voice, at the Grammys, and on TODAY.
Gwen also joined Shelton on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, getting her own star on October 19, 2023.
So, although Season 23 was Shelton's last season on the show, there is plenty of reason to hope that he and Stefani will continue to perform and record together for years to come.
Here are some of the songs Shelton and Stefani have already made together as we patiently await future collaborations.
Blake and Gwen's Song "Nobody But You"
youtube
Shelton and Stefani recently released an Instagram video of them performing this song on Valentine's Day, and performed it together at a benefit concert in Arizona on Feb. 10. They also performed the song at The Grammys in 2020 and on TODAY that year.
Watch the official music video the two made above.
The song was released as part of Shelton's 2019 album, Fully Loaded: God's Country.
Gwen and Blake's Duet "You Make It Feel Like Christmas"
youtube
Stefani, of course, sang with Shelton on the eponymous on her 2017 album,You Make It Feel Like Christmas, and released a music video for the song in 2018.
They also performed it during her 2017 NBC Christmas special, Gwen Stefani's You Make It Feel Like Christmas. Watch that performance above.
They've since performed it together during Season 20 of the Voice and during her December 2021 "Live from the Orange Grove" video series.
Blake and Gwen's Song "Happy Anywhere"
youtube
The couple's 2020 duet, "Happy Anywhere," was released as part of Shelton's album Body Language. In addition to performing it on the first night of The Voice Season 19 finale, they performed it during the TODAY Summer Concert Series, on Shelton's "Encore Drive-In Nights" that summer, and at the ACM awards in September.
Watch the official music video for the song above.
Blake and Gwen's Duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart"
youtube
The couple's first song together, however, was the 2016 collaboration "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," released with Shelton's album If I'm Honest. They performed it together on Season 10 of The Voice in May 2016, followed by a performance, seen above, in Los Angeles.
They also performed the duet that year at the Billboard Music Awards.

58th Annual ACM Awards 2023
So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), we will be talking about everything about the 58th Annual ACM Awards that took place on Amazon Prime at 5/11/23. This was hosted by Dolly Parton, & Garth Brooks. There was a little bit from the Red carpet preshow as well. So let's see what happened on this award show.
Who played, & what they played. Dalton Dover - Giving up on that (Red carpet performance). Matt Stell - One of us (Red carpet performance). Tiger Lily Gold - Shoot tequila (Red carpet performance). Keith Urban - Texas time. Cole Swindell & Jo Dee Messina - She had me at heads Carolina (Remix). Kane Brown - Bury me in Georgia. Carly Pearce & Trisha Yearwood - Wrong side of Memphis -> XXX's & OOO's -> She's in love with the boy. Hardy - Truck bed. Bailey Zimmerman - Rock and a hard place. Cody Johnson tribute to Willie Nelson - Mammas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys. Miranda Lambert - Carousel. Hailey Whitters - Everything she ain't. Luke Combs - Love you anyway. Ed Sheeran - Life goes on (Featuring Luke Combs). The War and Treaty - Blank page. Jason Aldean - Tough crowd. Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Pillbox Patti, Caylee Hammack, & John Osborne (From Brothers Osborne) - Bonfire at Tina's. Jelly Roll - Save me (With Lainey Wilson). Lainey Wilson - Grease. Jordan Davis - Next thing you know. Dolly Parton - World on fire.
That's a wrap for the performances on the night. Up next is the awards (who won and who should have won according to the MSR). New male artist of the year goes to Zach Bryan. This one should have gone to Bailey Zimmerman. He has been dominating the lists lately. New female artist of the year goes to Hailey Whitters. Out of the choices, this one should have gone to Megan Moroney. Artist Songwriter of the year goes to Hardy. Hardy writes so many songs for a lot of different artists. Song of the year goes to Cole Swindell - She had me at heads Carolina. It is a good choice and had a decent time in the top. Also Cody Johnson could have won. Duo of the year goes to Brothers Osborne. Not a bad choice but Dan + Shay actually get played on the radio. Group of the year goes to Old Dominion. Out of the choices, they were the best choice. ZBB (Zac Brown Band) is a good second. But why wasn't Parmalee nominated? Single of the year goes to Cole Swindell - She had me at heads Carolina. Good choice but maybe Kane with Katelyn Brown - Thank God. Music Event of the year goes to Hardy featuring Lainey Wilson - Wait in the truck. The only song that would be considered active for the year. Maybe Dustin Lynch featuring MacKenzie Porter - Thinkin' 'bout you could have won. Male artist of the year goes to Morgan Wallen. Morgan had a hell of a run for the last 2 years really. Female artist of the year goes to Lainey Wilson. The only one who deserves to win. Album of the year goes to Lainey Wilson - Bell bottom Country. This should have gone to Luke Combs - Growin' up. A lot of number ones from that project. Entertainer of the year goes to Chris Stapleton. This should have gone to either Kane, Luke, or Morgan before Chris. Chris hasn't really put any new music out this year.
And that's a wrap for the award winners. And on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would give this show a 3 out of 5 stars. I still don't like it being on Amazon Prime. And still some shocking winners. It is an okay show and maybe Luke Combs & Ed Sheeran's performance is the best of the night. Thanks for taking the time to read this review. See ya all next time.
