favorite fic you wrote this year: actually a grishaverse hunger games au fic Never Again (It’s Not An Act Of Love) because it’s so much of what I love about the characters. SO MUCH. And I think it tells you a lot about my writing.

favorite character to write about this year: listen Emperor Ozorne is a horrible creepy abusive possessive ex boyfriend/war criminal but also he’s Such A Fucking Tragedy because the young Ozorne we first meet did not have to end up there - a fact that is in the end on adult Ozorne and his choices but if young Ozorne had had like, one (1) adult who was responsible, caring and had authority over him look after him it COULD HAVE NOT HAPPENED. Also he’s so fascinating to write because actually, Emperor Ozorne hates being Emperor and he hates himself above all.

a fic you didn’t expect to write: genuinely did not expect to write pretty explicit knife kink (when I find kink and knife kink a personal trauma trigger and I still do - this is not a judgement on either of those I just unfortunately Have Trauma Bullshit) nor that was actually healing to write something about people who actually have a lot of joy and pleasure from (consensually) exploring even though it was triggering me and still does. Brains! I genuinely credit my saati @shes-a-voodoo-child (Drea you are AMAZING) and also my friend @theladyelizabeth who got me writing smut about fictional versions of Elizabeth Tudor and Robert Dudley.
