Oh my god I don’t even know. This Pandora’s box is frightening me bruh

I think right now I’ve read a lot of very Soft fics (and they’re good!) and now I’m craving something where they are two mean bitches to each other. Like I want to lock them in a box with all their spite and shake until they are fighting like two hungry rats that are too stubborn to sympathise with each other. Like u know when u get into an argument where u realise u are wrong but u don’t back down out of spite. I wanna watch them squirm

I wanna cackle as misunderstandings happen and tension builds up until shit snaps. And u know what I wanna see this in the oot set up cuz I cannot find enough fun ganlink fics for that game and there’s so much potential. I’m screaming as I swing myself from a ceiling fan. I want to see those two hatefully cooperate and be forced too awkwardly close WINK WINK HONK HONK

But if it’s not oot and I wouldn’t request this cuz I feel like it’s gonna be done very soon. But I want a totk fic where Zelda and link have swapped places cuz I know link wouldn’t go “oh could that be—- oh I’m not sure”. Oh no he would have charged in right after ganon in the zonai era like “I’m gonna fucking end u cuz I know exactly what u are going to do”. OHOHOHOOHHOHO—— and then ganon pocketing his ebil plan cuz there is this feral little goblin throwing hands. How funny would it be if rauru picked up link and tossed him after ganon and just said “keep an eye in him ;) but like diplomatically :D” and then and then———

I’m thinking of my great fairy au were Gan is the traveler (monk?) adventure guy, and link is a great fairy. they are fighting the money grubby hands of Hyrule through exploiting magical resources (as to why link isn't a big great fairy at the start and other kingdoms/races/species are suffering from the lack of magic. he gave up the last of his great magic to save Gan as a kid) So I was thinking, what role Zelda would play in this? I have seen her as the rebellions leader and the main baddie... so WHAT IF SHE WERE THE WITCH IN THE FORREST YOU SEEK???? or fortune teller. (both) making potions, asking for shrooms (lol) running errands for her and she helps teleport and fly you places???

most importantly: Zelda witch aesthetic I live for this. Will make character sheets soon, working on Link’s atm. 9 god she's gets to be as research and nerdy as she wants as someone living in the forest. nerdy Zelda is the cutest trait ever I’m glad they put it in breath of the wild. hyped about research. I gush about her so much)

They all help save the land of Hyrule and others. This is to satisfy my trio being on the same side as basically NPC roles lol

Ocarina of Time: Ganondorf

Thanks to some awesome Ganlink fanart and fanfiction, as well as the general nature of the main three (Link, Ganon, and Zelda), I got to thinking: it doesn’t really make sense of the king of the Gerudo, Ganondorf, to be born as the main bad guy. I would love to grab my Hyrule Historia and go more in-depth, but I have a really content cat on my lap.

From what Hyrule Historia and the games paint, Link has always been mortal, just blessed by the goddesses, Zelda was originally Hylia before choosing to be reincarnated as a mortal and thus starting the Royal Bloodline, and Ganon began as the demon king Demise. So basically poor Link is the only true mortal in this sequence. Ouch.

For both Link and Zelda, their powers need to awaken in them for them to serve their role. Considering we meet two Heroes, one dead and one alive, in Twilight Princess (why did they do that to my poor baby why), I think each cycle is an incarnation of the original trio rather than a true reincarnation, with the three possessing the spirits but not the actual souls, if that makes sense. OoT!Link was conversing with TP!Link, both of them Heroes but clearly separate. It’s also pointed out that just because you awaken in your role doesn’t mean it stays, such as BotW!Link being able to wield the Master Sword prior to his one hundred year sleep and then needing to build up again before he can re-wield it.

So where does that leave Ganondorf? I think he has the potential to awaken as Demise, the King of Evil, but he himself is not the King of Evil. Given how Power Corrupts and he is strongly connected to the Triforce of Power, I think it’s easy for him to awaken, but it’s also been pointed out that Power is on top of the Triforce for a reason. Power isn’t by itself bad, but it needs to have a base of Wisdom and Courage. Put those in place and Demise may not awaken. Unlike Link and Zelda, the demon king doesn’t necessarily need a mortal form for his incarnation, either (hi, Calamity Ganon). A mortal incarnation is just really handy, especially if he’s not up to his usual power. I think those would be the cycles where the demon king is desperate to get his hands on the Triforce of Power or another power source.

Someone pointed out that Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time is acting like a complete idiot if he was trying to rule the kingdom. He wasn’t trying to rule anything: he was trying to destroy everything. For a king, even one seeking infinite power and immortality, that is fucking stupid. For an awakened demon king in mortal form, it makes sense. By then the Gerudo King would have been completely burned away, leaving only the Demon King. Starting on a path of revenge for all the shit the previous bad Hylian royals had done to the Gerudo people, ending with the demon king destroying everything and seeking only the full Triforce. Immortal demonic goals overwhelm the strongest mortal ambitious every time.

Obviously, an argument could be made for Ganon always being the incarnate of the Demon King, but I think this opens up some nice story plots...or possibly I want more opportunities for Ganlink. Whatever.

I appreciate Ganlink as a Ship because it can include so many more interesting dynamics and potential storylines outside of "hero falls for princess". Especially when it comes to AU interpretations of the pair.

I think that’s why i like it so much as well. It plays against tropes and their expectations, going completely against the grain of the story. And I hate tropey stories! (Says the one binge playing loz) There is so much fun and creativity in negotiating the potential and also it lets u navigate the darker side of hyrule and the Hylian royal family and the gerudo, which I spend too much time scrutinising as is :’)

Love the dynamic cause Ganon acts to link like that one post where a kid had a crush and told their crush to get out of their school cause they didn’t know how to handle it and link is confused but reacting as much as he can as a knight to a prince he doesn’t know what they’re feeling in the beginning

I also love it cause there’s a lot of potential for their dynamic to be a slow burn enemies to lovers fic that has 100+ chapters and I’m a SLUT for that

SJDJFJFJFJFJGNGJG that’s a pretty good summary of the dynamic tho. If this was a 100 chapter fic I don’t think I’d survive all that tension for so long
