Fedal is if Tony and Steve switched places in time; ie if Tony was in the hero limelight and had to work his way to respectability in the past and was this legendary hero that then meets a Steve that grew up with posters of Tony on his wall while having his own strict ethos and power set, he doesn’t want to BE Tony but he admires him greatly (and collects his mercy to store for his private collection lol.)

(Also, bby Nadal was this scrawny little thing in his debut year as a 16 y/o. So much so that he says he started using the “buggy whip” forehand to make up for the fact that he was weaker, it’s basically whipping your racket a certain way to get more momentum instead of relying on pure muscle. And he kept that buggy whip forehand motion even when he became the muscled specimen we know today, people have poetically described it as a chariot driver’s whip of a forehand it’s so dramatic when he’s this big. So very Steve coded lol)

Also I forgot, Rafa is from an island and loves the ocean and Roger is from the landlocked mountains of Switzerland so there’s another contrast.

Like i know that in reality there's not a huge age gap between fedal, but for some reason when i imagine them stevetonified, I just see whoever's older in my scenario at the federer of the two. Like, for example, if we're thinking post-EG time traveler Steve + young Tony, then I'd totally peg Tony as Nadal and Steve as Federer, but if we're thinking normal timeline 2012 Avengers, then I think of Tony as Federer and Steve as Nadal. Even though i know that in either case, the age differences I'm thinking of are way exaggerated for the real-life fedal.

Maybe it's not even so much about the age as it is about the experience level and how much of an established legacy Federer had by the time Nadal got on the scene.

And ahhhhhh that's so affirming that there's ANOTHER Rafa/Steve parallel, I love it!! It's so Steve too, adapting his playing style for his younger, weaker body but maintaining those techniques even after it's no longer necessary bc he's stronger now! How delightful :))))
