#it's actually not that scandalous its just thinly veiled anticapitalist propaganda #not to go into a rant but people write so little about how traumatizing poverty and homelessness is #and how someone under capitalism can only thrive emotionally if they're economically stable enough to do so #and it's like. i don't want to spoil what i'm writing yet but i think it's so important to band au neil's story to have that stability #the story begins when neil has a stable income/housing for the first time in a while and it makes it possible for him 2 #form actual bonds with people and create a life that is more than just figuring out what to do the next morning #and. anyways the opposite of it is kevin's narrative foil which is essentially how the music industry preys on kids and #esp kids of color. kevin's character arc is literally recovering from the abuse from his old label enough to be able to make music again #andrew also plays a really big part on this but his character arc is more internalized djsldks #basically he's the only thing keeping the band from going to another level in their music by refusing to sign with a label #and honestly i haven't finished the fic yet but i think he's the one coming from a good place in this lmao #but yeah this man doesnt want fame or to be under a rich mans boot which is inevitable when youre signed to a big label #theres also an entire separate subplot with andrew and neil and understanding each other but i've said Enough #anyways! #band au #asks
