-Bound to an endless- part 8 the vortex that was meant to be

Here we are again. The last chapter before the grande finale 😅 this was the cornerstone of this story. The first thing that came to my mind that would happen if Hope would be Dreams soulbound during the time of the vortex. I hope you guys like it. And as allways: english is not my first language so be nice to me 🤣

Summary: Finally you got your soulbound but the peace does not last. What will happen if Dream won't listen to Hope?

You where here. In the Dreaming once again. The one place that called out for you. The place you were desperatly yearning to be there. Finally as an ally. No - As thier future queen as Morpheus proclaimed when you arrived. You two had your mothers blessing since she saw the love you hold for this man in your eyes.

Still... you could feel the darkness looming over you as you sat in Luciennes library. Secretly looking for some clues concerning the vortex. Morpheus had asked you not to but you knew you had to and Lucienne would never deny you any wish. So she just walked away like she had never seen you enter her library.

One book after another was stacked in front of you. Frustrated you reached for the next when you heard someone enter the library. Your heart was racing. Had he found you? Discovered you while you were working against his wish? "May I help you?" No. There was no 'my Lord'. It could not be Morpheus. You relaxed and stood up to make your way to your guest.

"Oh there I am." The woman was holding a book in her hands as you arrived there. "My lady, I am sorry if we disturbed you. I am just helping a dreamer to find a book." - "No need to be sorry. It looks like she found it, my dear friend." You pointed out as the woman tenderly craddled the book.

"You are Unity Kincade?" Luciennes eyes wandered over to the woman in shock. "Rose Walker is your great-granddaughter?" - "Yes. How do you know Rose?" You have looked everywhere for a clue and now the great-grandmother of the vortex stood in front of you.

"How is this possible? I mean mortals do not have this long of a livespan?" - "Well I was asleep for a long time. I guess time didn't take it's toll on me as on the others." - "So you had the sickness? How where you able to concieve? Where you..." - "Raped? No." - "I am sorry. This was not the most sensible question. I am afraid this is above my understanding." - "While I was sleeping I met a man. The most beautiful man I've ever seen. Well, this love resulted in Rose's grandmother."

Your eyes widened in horror. Shivers ran down your spine and you feared that your knees would collapse under you if it wasn't for Lucienne's fast support. "My lady, is everything alright? Are you unwell? I am afraid Lord Morpheus is not here so should I call for Marvynn?" - "There is no need for that. We must find him. Immideatly!"

You did not know who this man where. But he must have been someone important to impregnate someone in their dreams. Someone who has enough power to do that must have been close to Morpheus. And he must have known that the power of the vortex would be passed down to the descendants of this affair.

Matthew arrived just in time. His wings fluttered in panic. "Y/N! He is at fiddler's green. With Rose Walker. I was looking for you everywhere. He will destroy her. Fucking vortex-things!"

This was part of a plan and the only thing you were certain of was that Morpheus would be in danger at this very moment.

You had no time to admire the beauty of fiddler's green as you arrived there. Nor were you able to think how it was possible for grass to be this green and luscious as you sprinted through the fields and over wonderful rivers with Lucienne and Unity behind you. Your lungs started to burn and were screaming for a pause. Tears gathered in your eyes. From the wind that was whipping into your face and the fear that constricted your throat.

"My love, stop!" You were screaming on top of your lungs when you saw Morpheus standing in front of Rose. Draining her energy. Her life. Her beeing.

"I can not stop now, Y/N. I told you, I have to do this for the sake of everyone." - "No, you don't! Morpheus listen to me." His eyes found yours.

There was so much love in his look that you almost forgot why you where here. "My beloved Y/N. I know you have faith in every creature and I love you for this. But Rose accepted her destiny. She is a strong woman. Thanks to you and your power. I can feel it. I can feel the hope you planted inside of her."

Tears were running down your cheek. Unity and Lucienne were just a few seconds away. But time ran out. Rose was growing weaker. "Morpheus, please! Listen to me!" - "Enough. We will discuss this later. This helds utmost importance." His icy tone was back. It crept into your heart and you prayed to your mother for her help.

Your shoulders straightened and your voice sounded stronger than before. "If you only listened to me, King of Dreams." His eyes widened at your form of adress. You only called him that if you where angry. Challenging him in any way. Your light filled the air and suddenly your presence loomed over him like a sword.

Your voice was booming in his ears even if sadness swayed within. "This was something I would never want to do to anyone. I am sorry, Dream of the endless. But remember my words: I am forced to do this because of my love towards you."

You raised your shaking hand. Everything inside you screamed. Nothing ever prepared you for this moment. Anger grew inside your mind. This was not meant to be. You were meant to be with him not against him. A single tear ran down your cheek. Coldness embraced you and awakened the fears your mother warned you of.

You would drain yourself of your power - her voice rang through your mind. Morpheus' pleading whisper lets you hesitate. "Please, my love." You knew there was no going back. The Dreamlords legs gave in as you took all his hopes away. He scrambled to the floor, whimpering softly. His body shaking due to the absence of your warmth.

You whinced at the sight before you. Stepped back only to cover your mouth in shock. You drained your soulbound. It was your doing that made this majestic entity unable to move. You were scared of yourself.

Lucienne and Unity were now standing next to you. "Unity?" Rose was frightened yet visibly confused. You took a step towards Morpheus, who was staring into the nothingness you unwillingly created inside his mind when you took even the last bit of your power inside him.

You reached for him. Slowly and cautious. But he flinched back at your touch. Regaining his consciousness. "No" he whispered. Betrayal in his voice. Vunerable and hoarse. "Do not touch me. Leave! Leave and never come back. If I ever see you again, you will not longer be my lover. This step you took made you something else. Leave now!"

Tears were streaming down your face. Lucienne's eyes were fixed onto the grass. Her body twitching at the icy tone that attests you betrayal. There was no hope left. Not for Morpheus nor you. You had done something you could not undo. And you had to live with the consequences. A whimper left your mouth and you ran away. Not knowing where. You just knew you have to leave. Leave the man you love and the place you fought so long to call home.

You did not know how long your legs carried you. Time was now fading into nothing. Every feeling left your body that was burning with pain. A pain you never experienced before. Numbing all your sences. Memories flooded your fogged mind as your vision blurred and faded into darkness.
