Hi! I wanted to start making gifs and was wondering how you started and what do you do to make them! Thank you!

hey nonie, srry for the wait I was just trying to narrow down all of the resources so you wouldn’t be overwhelmed 🥺 I hope these can help you in some way ;))

i thought i would start with laying out some resources and then let you know how i started making gifs😆 

first off if you’re looking for overarching tutorials on how to make gifs I would recommend these ones, they go through how to import videos into photoshop, cropping, saving and some even go a bit into colouring: 1, 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 

so on to colouring tutorials, personally i would say that for colouring you need to practice a lot on your own but these tutorials have helped me personally: 1 & 2 (colour correction),  3 (vibrant colouring),  4 (curves tool tutorial),  5 (colouring dark scenes), 6 (this one deals with magenta light from music shows), 7 (different colouring methods you could try), 8  (skin restoration)

when it comes to sharpening i don’t have many resources except for these two ;((: 1, 2  (this user has other great gif tutorials)

here you have an overall resource masterpost made by the lovely soph where you can find other gifmakers’ process and such 

how i started with the help of some gifmakers on here I was able to start, they told me to download vapoursynth or avisynth (depends on whether you use pc or mac), 4k downloader (to dl videos from youtube) and just get started. I searched a basic gifmaking tutorial and made my first gifs, no colouring or nothing. so don’t pressure yourself, just take one thing at a time. i used to gif a lot at the start so i think that helped me get the hang of it quite fast but you don’t have to do the same, just go with your own flow ;)) 

also the amount of gifs i’ve made  and posted might equal the amount of gifs i’ve made and not posted T^T, i wish i had posted more trial gifs which what i do nowadays, it’s  nice to be able to look back at it

The first gif I made was on june 24th 2020 which also ended up being the first day i posted 😉 i started off on the right foot with a namgi set and then it went downhill from there lol

Winter depression is the worst cuz youre trying to make it thru but have no energy :(( i feel like since this album is so personal to them that we're gonna been in our feel more than WINGS era lol and i'm ready for the waterworks. it’s really cheesy but my biggest inspiration is my mother, hands down, she’s the one who makes me feel like the impossible is possible. going through hard times and a tough upbringing really shapes you as a person and my mom is definitely an example of that... of course i don’t think people need to suffer to learn things but that was her case at least and she has done her best to teach me those lessons (some i have learned and some i haven’t yet) but anytime I feel down or like giving up she’s the first person I think of. I have a bunch of other role models but she will always be nr 1. what about you?? is there someone or something that fuels your drive??

Genshin Impact is actually a relatively new game, but it's super addicting so I guess it's my favorite currently 😂 i play a lot of games just to stress relieve, it help me to turn off my brain and give me a sense of accomplishment LOL and also to like... not feel lonelt during the pandemic cuz i been locked in for like a year now LMAO

And yeh the US situation is.... haaaaa.... i hate it here, save me TT^TT

And yeah!! I do scanslation, been doing it since i was 12 😂 it been a while. I used to own a pretty big group too but then I quitted cuz dramas in scans are abundant and i rather waste my times on something else. oh yeah you’ve definitely matured if you’re able to look at the way you communicate and find flaws... and yes it does make sense, i mean you know what B is in your mind, it might even seem so obvious that you don’t mention it and end up at C directly, or at least that’s how things have appeared to me. hmmm i want to change my behaviour, like conceptually i know what i should be doing but actually getting to it is a big hassle, i have a tendency for self destructive behaviour in certain areas of my life ;(( i’ve gotten much better but there’s still a way to go, like saying no, i NEED to start saying it more often, i’m way too lenient at times 😩

namjooning activites are the most healing, plus i am interested in learning how to pick mushrooms cause we’ve gotta a lot were i live. speaking of healing, what are your favourite healing activities? awww poor kitty ;((( she’ll come around, all cats have attitude problems according to me lol. i hope she’s feeling well, despite the collar ;))
