Ooooh you have a sona? What kind of turtle is it?

Ehe, here's the guy! To be honest, Star!Leo was sort of already my sona as is, so I decided to make a sona based on that. I wanted to give him more "night" elements instead of just the stars. He's similar to Star!Leo in that he has a rlly close bond with the stars, but for this guy, I extended it out to him having a close bond with all the celestial elements. He's the oldest out of the every sona in the server, and he's a cranky old man XD.

Okay I can't help but think about the red and purple sky for sunrises and sunsets because of Raph and Donnies corresponding colors and I love it.

Also you mentioned Raph making sure that Mikey doesn't launch comets at Donnie or Leo and I can't help but think that he is no longer allowed to do that because he threw one af Donnie but missed and it hit Earth and that's what caused the dinosaurs to go extinct

I challenged myself to draw Night in under five minutes. Most of the time was in picking the colors, haha!

I have plans to draw him for real later. Love him (and you!) 🌌🐢✨🌙

EHEHE LOOK AT HIM!! His colors seem so simple, but tbh I have the hardest time picking them when drawing him, I always feel like his skintone is off XDD he looks so grumpy, it's perfect 😭💕

BUT this was sent while I had my ipad with me, so I thought to try it too XD

Tbh it's prolly cause I draw him almost every day, but I finished him in 2 or 3 minutes and was struggling on what else to add by the end of it XD he angy as usual tho -w- thank you for the arts, it really means a lot to me :DD

Can you Tell us more about the celestial au concepts for donnie and Leo pleased? They are so amazing!

Oh sure thing!! Ok so most of this I actually plan on drawing something for at some point, so stay tuned for that, ehe

Moon!Donnie and Star!Leo hang out the most out of everyone. Thoes boys party all night, lighting up the night sky and watching the earth beneath them. But when dawn comes, Sun!Raph just DRAGS their asses back to bed, gotta give em a stern talking to every night XD

Leo has a very strong connection to the stars, he is the stars. If anyone reading remembers Rosalina's relationship with the Lumas in Super Mario Galaxy, that's essentially the same vibe as how Leo feels towards his own stars. They're essentially his children [save for Raph, he's special lol].

Although with such a strong connection comes some pain. Trillions and trillions of his stars are exploding every second. After an eternity, he's been able to cope, it's what happens in their life cycle, but it still hurts him.

I just posted a drawing abt this, but the shadows on donnie's arms shift with the moons phases! [This isn't WAY important when it comes to me just making the pretty drawings i wanna make tho. His base character design has the shadows abt 3/4 of the way up his arms and legs, even if I draw the moon behind him in a different phase lol]

Donnie's also got some alters, such as the Blood Moon, the Harvest Moon, etc.

Leo likes to put on a pretty show during the night for everyone down on earth, making sure his stars are extra sparkly and bright 😌

Thanks for answering! Could you go into how you paint? It's always the trickiest part for me

Hehe sure thing! I even recorded some of it, bc for me personally, i learn a lot easier when it's visualized like that, aha.

So first off, we'll start off with our base!

Personally, I like a lot of gradients and color variations to start off with, but these can be solid base colors of you prefer :3. From this, ALL layers are gonna be merged down into one, no separate layers here yet :D

Going forward, I have a video done here kinda showing what I do :DD. I'll explain below the video in more detail what I do

First the base shadiws and highlights — for the shadows I'll usually pick from the color wheel (a darker, more saturated tone, plus I'll also shift the hue some) and draw right on the canvas. For the base highlights, i'll almost always use a bright orange on whatever adjustment layer makes your color nice and bright and glowy (for PTS it's Luminosity, and for CSP and Procreate I usually use an Add layer).

THEN I DO SOME MESSY BLENDING OUT, nothing pretty yet, just getting some of the colors blended out hehe

Afterwards, the drawing usually looks like this :0 very messy lol

NEXT !!! PAINTING TIME !!! As show in the video, it's allllll about color picking and going over what you've already done. For a lot of it I use a softer brush, letting the colors blend together more softly, and then for other portions I'll use a harder pen for where I want more of the color that I picked to show through. Sometimes I'll draw over the line art all together if I don't think it's needed, or i"ll draw the line art back in after painting over it if I want those lines still :0

And there's just a looooot of drawing over and painting over. The 20 seconds you saw of painting and blending usually goes on for like 3-6 hours, depending on the drawing XD.

After ALLLL of that, I get smth like this

AND this was pretty much just working on leo. Now to work on the background elements >:3c same progress, just for the atmosphere and not the character!

YAY NOW THAT'S DONE !! Now all the paintings done soooooo

Color correction and final touches >:3c no more painting, now there's just a bunch of fun glowy layers we add on top of this heheheeh

AND WE DONE >:DDD

I hope that helped some djejwjww. Tbh, the way I learn the most is if an artist im trying to learn from straight up just streams what they’re doing, but I don't rlly know anywhere i could stream or who would be interested ;w; but I hope this helps enough anyway!

What’s your render process? It’s so pretty ^.^

I'll use an out-of-context Night drawing to share the process XD

So first I'll make my sketch, line art, and then my flat colors. A lot of the time, I'll add in some gradients and subtle glow at this stage just to add in some more color variation for when rendering comes around. I also dont draw in all the details yet — like the string that'll be around his brooch later or his face marks. Whatever I feel like will get in the way of the painting process and will be easier to add in later, i leave out for now.

Now the ✨️ugly portion.✨️ For the lighting and shading, I use a paint brush. For the shadows, I'll usually pick them from the wheel myself, rather than using a Multiply layer. Then, for the lights, I'll almost always use a nice bright orange color on a Luminosity layer (note that this is on Paint Tool Sai — the equivalent to Luminosity is an Add layer on most other programs) and slap those on where I think the lights go.

Shit's really messy at this point djejejwj but that doesn't matter toooo much. 80% of the drawing comes from the next step, the painting. It doesn't matter much if ur lights and shadows are messy rn cause it's gonna get all cleaned up anyway aha.

And now we're onto the painting, and this is the point where we merge everything down into one layer and start going ham :0. Usually, what I do is I take Paint Tool Sai's Water brush + Marker brush and start blending out all the colors and cleaning everything up. I color pick whatever part of the drawing I wanna clean up, then I'll blend it out and define the shapes until i feel satisfied with how it looks :DD this part of the drawing took around 2 to 3 hours maybe? Like I said, this is most of the drawing process aha

AND NOW THE BEST BIT, THE COLOR CORRECTION AND FINAL DETAILS !! This is where I make the glowy bits REALLY glow, and make the colors look a little more cohesive :0. Also, I up the contrast more, make them darks look darker and them lights look lighter >:D

And that's pretty much it, I think 🤔🤔 if there's anything anyone would like me to go into more detail with, I'm more than happy to answer :0 I like playing art teacher hehehehehe ❤️❤️✨️✨️

Mm not really 🤔 it's very up to interpretation! I do have this ref tho — typically, his cloak has a gradient of colors hehe
