I actually don’t reread my own fics that much because I tend to obsess over the mistakes I find, especially with my older fanfictions. When I do read them, it’s mostly because I have a sudden craving for dazai x akutagawa.

My favorite might be bite no harsher than the bark.

The things I do reread a lot are my WIPs. I do have about eight of them right now, plus a bunch of snippets I might or might not continue. Sometimes I forget about them for a while and then when I do reread them I’m reminded how much I love writing and that I do actually like my own writing.

I honestly wouldn't call myself a part the fandom either? 

Firstly because the lack of one outside of Japan as you have mentioned... I don't actively sought it myself either, so I can't help you about whether a space/community like a discord still exists. Secondly because with STY I'm mostly doing my own thing in my own little bubble (which oftentimes only caters to my personal interest so idk how others who follow the series feels about it).

Hi! I would like to know if the volume 12 of shinrei tantei Yakumo is the last? Or does it continue :)?

Based on official sources (Sensei’s twitter/instagram, Kadokawa etc) I think that it is safe to say that vol 12 concludes the main storyline. Whether Kaminaga-sensei has plans to make more Another Files volume, I have no idea, but I doubt so either (judging from the amount of campaign they do around the release of this novel + celebration of completion of the series, including the release of the official fanbook).

Putting that aside, Kaminaga-sensei did comment that he’d like to have another stage play adaptation in the future. They also recently did a survey on possible merchandise production and plans to release it sometime in the future seems to have been set in motion, so that is something I look forward to!

Idk if someone is working on an English translation as of now. As from my side of things, the localized version of vol 9 is soon to be released in my native language. This means volume 10 is up next, and I'll see what I can do to obtain it and try to pick up the translation from there, in case no one does.

I am not sure about online version of the volumes, if you are referring to like, an e-book version of them.

If you are really keen on translating now though, I am capable of obtaining the physical copies of the books. Vol 10 is just a Kinokuniya trip away for me, and a friend in Japan had graciously picked up a signed copy of vol 11 for me which i will receive soon. Since you’re asking for my opinion I figured the shortest way to answer is to be a little blunt about this: I don’t ship them, and I don’t care as much about how Kaminaga-sensei takes their development in subsequent volumes. this 100% has to do with the fact that I treat Yakumo more as a person than a character, but I’m not going to go into that since it isn’t what you’re asking for.

I felt like Sensei has always been maintaining a vague take on their relationship, from Yakumo’s point of view at the very least. It’s easy to see that Haruka’s existence is of some degree of significance to him, but as far as I have read the novels (which is, well, behind by a few novels of course), I felt like Yakumo was not really one to stop and think about where the two of them stand in terms of relationship.

A reference from file 5/novel volume 5:

It is a fairly outdated reference, but I felt like it still rather accurately portrays how, well, the nature of their relationship simply isn’t something he thinks about at the back of his mind. 

While their relationship surely has developed since the beginning of the story, I simply do not feel like Sensei wrote all these development with an established relationship (more than friends as you put it), as the end in mind. A more open ended take on it seem to be the likelier outcome and one I would’ve wished for as well coughcough. 

I hope that answered your question. If you do ship them and wished that they would end up becoming something more in the end, sorry but I just couldn’t entertain that idea for you.

Hello! I’ve been in and out of the Psycho-Pass fandom since it first began. Sometimes I’m heavily interested and other times I don’t care too much for it and watch other animes. That being said, I just recently discovered the 3 art books for Psycho-Pass that WIT Studio released some time ago. As much as I want all 3 of those books, I’m conflicted since I don’t want to buy them now then see them as a waste of money later....Do you have any sort of advice for me?

I think i know which artbooks you are referring to. Their base price are pretty expensive, yes. Actually, what coincidence, i actually have just got one of them (vol 1) a few weeks ago since i found a pretty sweet deal for a secondhand copy. (but i had to order them via proxy which incurred some additional costs, obviously). If you are worried about cost, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing unless you found a cheaper secondhand listing online, either.

Should you wonder about the content, I can say that the book I own heavily consists of animation concepts/keyframes from the episodes and such, and I assume the remaining two books would be more or less the same (just from different, later episodes). Feel free to message me if you’d like some photo previews and i’ll try to take some when i have the time.
