28th of Sun’s Height, Turdas

Realizing that the Count would soon be taking his leave, and honestly not too soon, for I realize how fine I am cutting my hospitality to my duties to my Nest, I headed out to the market with Sildras to obtain some parting gifts. I also wanted to send a far larger package to Fennorian, since I did not have to worry so greatly after the size of my package.

Sildras had many ideas for gifts that people from High Rock might enjoy after his speaking to both the Count and Gwendis. And he was particularly keen to see the perfect gift found for her. It seems that he has taken quite a shine to Gwendis, actually. Almost like a younger brother who idolizes an older sibling. It is very sweet and I am ever for encouraging him to not be so scared of people in specific, especially those who are different from us. I want him to learn that people bring their own sorts of dangers, but that the danger is divorced from the fact that they are different, more so to do with the specific situation.

We purchased a number of items which are inherently Dunmeri, the sorts of things you cannot get outside of Morrowind easily. Some were dried foods, for the servants. Others were particular weaving and dyeing styles of fine fabrics. There were some vases and hair ornaments and songbooks. There were carapace jewelry of all sorts and fans painted with scenery of the landscapes of the different regions of Morrowind. I tried to steer us away from choosing items with any relation to the Tribunal.

For Gwendis, Sildras selected two items, saying he could not pick only one, for Gwendis seemed the type to like something functional and something beautiful. I asked if we could not find something that was both and he said that both items were both and he should like her to have them. One was a beautiful blade which had inscribed upon it attributes he thought suited her, courage, strength, and honor. His second gift was a comb adorned with a silken batflower blossom.He said he thought it would suit her and so she knew how beautiful she was. I told him he needed to write up a note to go with the gift so that she would understanding the meaning behind the gifts. He eagerly agreed.

I wrote my own note to the Count and made sure that everything was packed and set discreetly amongst the luggage of the Count. I had Cheerz instruct the Count’s staff about the gifts for all and asked that it be left a surprise upon the unloading if possible.

Now to wait for our farewells. I have a few questions to ask the Count before he goes. I hope he will be willing to answer them. So much to do. And I have told Avon I need his help. Perhaps when he returns from seeing Plays-With-Fire he will be in a good enough mood to humor me.
