📸 Behind the Scenes of our photography workshop with @rsrillustration at #thelibraryatwillesdengreen ! 📸 Our Photography workshop welcomed the public to create a styled photoshoot inspired by the life and times of their family members or historical figures. @themixedmuseum This shoot was created by @rsrillustration , inspired by photographs of her mothers second wedding to her husband Malcom in the early 1990s. In the background, Rosalyn has used fabrics and papers to imitate the affect of her getting out of car just like the @rollsroycecars my grandmother (Margaret Drinkwater) is getting out of in the second photo on her wedding day in #Cricklewood (Swipe to see more!) Our mood board workshops welcomed the public and asked them to bring photographs and personal possessions from their family archives or be inspired by the many colourful stories we have unearthed during research for the BTCOTC project to use as a starting point to create a mood board about the life and times of their family members or historical figures. @themixedmuseum This mood board explores the short and tragic life of Princess Omdutel of Oude Buried At @paddington.old.cemetery created by our highly engaged workshop participants. Her grave is inscribed: “Sacred to the memory of Princess Omdutel Aurau Begum, daughter of the late General Mirza Sekunder Hishmut Bahadur, Brother to His Majesty King of Oude, who died 14th April 1858 aged 18 months.” With help from local artist Warren Reilly, participants pulled references from the images to help gain insights into their own or Brent’s mixed race and multicultural history. By the end of the workshop, participants had created a finalised Mood board which they could continue to add to or refine in their own time. We would like to thank all those who supported the BTCOTC project by attending our half term workshops, in collaboration with @themixedmuseum This Illuminous mood board was created by the fantastic local artist @isabellkinga who has been a shining example of a Brent resident who believes it’s important to explore personal and local heritage through arts based practice. The board explores her relationship with her polish mother and Sri Lankan father, feeling closest to a yellow blazer her father wore frequently throughout his life. Thank you for all your support during BTCOTC Kinga, it’s been fascinating hearing you share your family story with us!
