All jokes aside ASOUE might be the only book series that shows not only the toxicity of the “Haha im too dumb to read books” people, but also the same amount of toxicity from book reading culture. 

One refuses to better themselves and learn or try new things, as well as being proud of it. While the other may seem more appealing, completely abandons outsiders, talks down to people, and thinks way to highly of themselves for reading so many books.

They’re both snobs just in diffrent ways.

im gonna be honest, half if not more of "shadow is mischaracterized here" moments he's not mischaracterized, y'all just didn't have good shadow content since 2006 and built up a false idea of him in your heads, so once he was back in media more y'all had the time to think your brains' fanfiction version of him was real. as someone who watched like all the media in the better part of half a year i literally saw no difference and then saw people yelling about it online.

the only way art gets notes is if its funny, a reference or you have such a huge following that by basic math you'll have to get notes. it's not better for artists on other platforms, with art theft and hate for anything, along with it being harder to get visibility in most places especially at the start. compared to other sites tumblr is good for artists, but it can still be better. and at this point it's not the site, it's the people.

i dont know what happened but please reblog art. ive said it before and i certainly will have to say it again. even if its in a queue or on a sideblog, reblog it. liking doesnt do anything, reblog it. if you want an artist to keep posting art, reblog it. they're not entitled to your reblog but you aren't entitled to their art, and if you want to keep them going and support them, reblog it.

it hurts seeing a huge like to reblog ratio. it hurts seeing something you spent hours on get no visibility but a quick meme or funny post gets spread like wildfire. its like bakers spending days on a cake and people eat 20-minute amongus cookies instead because it's funny.

it rewards minimal effort. it makes effort feel like a waste of time. it makes their art feel like a waste of time. it's a terrible snowball that ive seen artists i loved fall into. one that i'm falling into.

the site is practically built for artists and it's discouraging artists. seeing an artist discouraged hurts. being a discouraged artist hurts.

support who and what you can, and actual support. if you want to go above and beyond leave something in the tags, or in the comments.

i want to see art.

and this post will get more reblogs than most art, im sure.

with the trailer tomorrow I do want to say, I think what we're gonna begin to see is Nintendo refusing to believe that they're loosing to Sonic in any medium, even if it's film. They're gonna try their hardest to have this movie make as much money as possible for pure ego sake. They lost a battle already and refuse to believe it. This is less a console wars 2 but with film, and more Nintendo making sure it has every trophy. Even if the movie was being made before Sonic 2020, there were clear changes to it to try to compete. The casting of celebrities was a year after Sonic 2020, which didn't seem to be in the plan before. The choice of casting their main character as a funnyman™ who got recognized via being in Parks and Rec, despite it being completely unfitting for Mario, is an interesting choice. and now the movie will be coming out a day before the release day of Sonic 2. There are clear moves to try to take a trophy from their rival not because of market strife, but for pure ego. What I believe we'll be seeing is desperation.

I also do understand the movie was pushed back due to multiple changes including a studio change, however it releasing in a year where they won't have to compete with a Sonic movie is very convenient for them as well.

Also to all the people who sent my sister actual death threats over a year ago because she said a similar thing that I just did, fuck you.

ive talked about this but no i dont want amy in the third movie actually. they're already so many characters and even more to introduce, including the dead ones. i get yall like her speech, i think she needs ot be saved so that she can get her proper time for development. too many characters at and introduced at once was an early marvel mistake (see: age of ultron, horrible movie) and it doesn't need to be rushed. give it a minute and she'll get a full movie for development and introduction

i wanted to get this out there but there's so much characterization complaining and claiming things as ooc and for certain specific moments i totally see it but like.

to put things into perspective i got into the sonic fandom "recently" it's been a few years but i certainly didnt grow up on it. and while that's made me miss out on a whole lot and certain viewpoints i also have an adventage in certain ways, the one that i see is that i've experienced all the media (at least like 90 something percent) in the past few years of my life, meaning im not going based soley off of memory, nostalgia, and the idea of characters that i've built up on my own.

so, say, i went from watching sa1 to sa2 to X to heroes to battle to lost world to reading idw (not at all in the order but again this was all in like a few months) and the most ooc i thought tails was was in heroes and i still stand by that (it's a whole other rant post abt how tails is comnpletely normal in lost world and the most ooc he's ever been in heroes but i digress)

i dont want this to sound like im glorifying myself or anything bc again i have a worse perspective on some sonic things because of my experince but it's just different. and because of that there's so much ooc complaints that i will never understand, and some that clearly come from a place of building up an idea of a character in ones' head just from time that isn't the actual character *cough shadow cough* (this was RAMPANT in the undertale fandom so i am so used to seeing it)

it's more of a supported headcanon and the support is a very big and long theory that's as thick as my fat cock so it would take forever to write and i have to write like. collage papers rn but once i have the drive I'll totally do it

but like, sega is obviously very particular about sonic's backstory, like him ever having one, which is why the movies were cucked in one big way, either because they have something in mind or they don't and because he's a figurehead of their company they'd rather he just not. the void of a backstory has been filled in other canons ((nephew of a knight, best friend with the princess (satam), one of three triplets from the queen who had to be given up during a takeover (underground), idk what the fuck (archie)) but not all. honestly the closest to the game modern canon we get also give him nothing, like X, boom, etc. Either because that idea of sega holding back on a backstory was already in place or they just didn't feel like it idk.

This leaves room for headcanon and theory, or mostly a mix of the two. I think it's impossible to make a theory of sonic's backstory in gamecanon because we're given so little, so we use the stuff we can barely find and use and create supported headcanons like I did.

for me it just. makes the most sense if sonic just spawned.

he's both just like everyone else while also being something completely different just because of how he is. his spirit and soul are different if that makes sense. his beliefs, power set, and being align almost perfectly with the chaos emeralds themselves. Everything sonic believes in is based on freedom, to the point of not killing people so that they can change. and what is freedom if not chaos?

ever-changing, ungovernable, unpredictable, freedom and chaos are almost synonyms. the universe especially in sonic is just organized chaos.

Sonic himself represents freedom, in his beliefs and lifestyle, not exactly that he's fully free in every sense, but he fights for freedom and therefore fights against order, he fights for chaos and life.

Either this makes him the perfect user of the chaos emeralds (which part of the theory i mentioned above goes into) or something from them almost directly. i think as their nature the chaos emeralds create life around them just in general, but it's possible sonic was something they just. did.

i cant exactly say on a whim, there are prophetic drawings and statues of him on angel island, either from the echidnas or the ancients themselves, and the chaos emeralds due have some time fukcery about them so maybe they were showing off their favorite boy.

again a huge part of this headcanon hinges on a theory that may take an entire day to research, write out and put together, so im rambling but like. yeah.

holy shit my physical disability isnt even counted as a physical disability. ive had days where i dont want to move because my knees hurt so bad, i cant sleep tonight becuase my left knee area is in so much stining pain and has been all day. i cant do things with my arms or legs for too long before they get fatigued and hurt. i cant shower. i cant hold my cat. i cant run. i cant stand for too long. my arm is starting to hurt as a type. i cant play with my dog. i feel like i cant do fucking anything but hurt. and i wont get shit for it. it doesn't technically count. and its getting worse.

with the super bowl or whatever the fuck its called instead of thinking about sports bc im gay ive been thinking more about mobian worldbuilding sports. like which ones would they share with humans, which ones would they not really do as much and which ones are completely original, along with popularity.

because of other headcanons and how we've seen our focus group of people be I wouldn't be surprised if they mostly engaged in fighting based stuff. Like they enjoy football well enough, but stuff like tennis and vollyball whatnot would be more boring. just thought process, and it hit me that with how they seem i feel like wwe type preformance wrestling would be their most popular. the drama. the people in elaborate suits and characters. watching people beat each other up. maybe with fucking powers. they may not even script this type they'd just let them at each other. it'd be so funny
