I think long ass posts don’t work well now a days. I’m not blaming Tumblr but it’s the story of every social media site these days. I only have like one or two long ass posts here though. No wonder social media has turned us in to people who don’t have the patience to sit through a complete book or a complete film even. May be that’s why many new writers have stopped putting their effort on the setting up of the story plot and development of the character arcs. We only want the best second half. We want the best action scenes, the best reveal, the best climax and happy endings. Yeah, and that’s everywhere. “Pun intended.” However, we should understand the fact that a good piece of content is whole and not two halves. But social media is turning us in to people who wants content that will hit our brain for instant pleasure and then to go away. Because after that we want something else to hit us next.
May be we need to stop feeding ourselves on what the mainstream media and the hype tells us. May be we are better left alone to our own decision making of the whats and the whys. May be only then we can become thinkers and creators. May be only then we will be able to become good audiences and contribute the way we should always have. May be only then we will also be able to become good observers, someone who can see the tiny details in a frame and the nuances of a character or a scene, and that applies even to our day to day lives, our work etc.
we are a generation that feeds on instant gratification.
We are becoming a generation who wants instant noodles, instant results and instant love. But we very well know the fact that even noodles take time to cook and it’s not actually instant like they advertise.
We want a reel to swipe every 10 second, 30s cuts of songs just so that it can fit the social media attention span and go viral. May be that’s where the future is going. 1 minute down to 30s and now down to 10s and what’s next? 1s snaps? But what can you say? Art is art. But is that somehow affecting us, may be in a small way now but leaving adverse effects for the long term? Don’t we sometimes want to dive deep in to the content we love rather than just making us go wow for a second and making us feel bored again. Don’t we want to consume something that makes us think and leaves a mark on us and actually help us build ourselves and a stronger foundation around us?
Some of us are still the kind of people who will go back to those long music sessions. Damn, I just love the long music sessions and qawwalis of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. They go for like 25 minutes, even Sabri Brothers. I always feel that rather than making remixes of the classic songs we should revive them by letting the good singers sing them as covers or like on Coke Studio. Oh! It’s the best thing to have happened. Singers like Ali Sethi, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam and Ali Zafar, they being legend themselves are making covers of the evergreen songs created and performed by the maestros who are no longer with us.
So there are some of us who may not have all the time in the world but we will definitely complete a good book and a good academy winning film or even an indie film for that matter. We just don’t care about the critics or the general audience reactions. We know people who knows people who can recommend us the good books and the good movies to watch. And that’s the purpose of a community, isn’t it? To be able to share experiences that we enjoyed with the people of our own community. And I believe the next revolution in the content world will be brought by these people who don’t care about the social norms and will do anything to bring the best forms of content to the masses, may it be educational or for entertainment purposes. Content will stand truly for the strength of the content and not marketing or vfx alone.
So the hell with going viral and likes and follower numbers, I’ll just continue dropping long ass posts from time to time. May be the content we are creating right now will actually find their right audience only after few months and years. And may be that’s a good thing too. Because these long ass posts actually start the important and the long ass discussions and helps me build a better relationship with few of my readers and actually learn from them too. I mean, we are all here to learn from each other and only then this can be a healthy and growing community. And may be that’s what I crave for too.
To be able to connect. ✨
Initially I thought this post will be about my thoughts on why long ass posts have less readers, but then I kept on writing because things just kept coming and this itself became a long ass post about long ass posts. Inception, you see.
Hope you enjoyed the long ass post (rant) !!!

Tranquility and surrealism,
elemental voice combined with melody
bring us back to our Creator.
What could be a better attire for a marvel as such,
Atif Aslam sports a layered  white sherwani,

With the start of Ramazan, the donation campaigns started for all the brands. I was waiting for my favorite one since last two years. Pepsi has been doing some really good work for those who need our help. This is the third year Pepsi launched this campaign and this year it was zara hut key.
So The Annual Liter of light campaign by Pepsi Pakistan, with the new initiative. This time they are going #EyesClosedForlight.  Leading Names of the Film & Drama industry are taking part in this campaign with Pepsi. Not only this, but Pepsi has launched a book with the powerful images of Impacts from the Pepsi liter of Light campaign. The campaign is doing brilliantly this year as well as people across Pakistan are participating for this cause. Even I have purchased these bottles too for the entire Ramzan to support the cause because as they say na Charity begins from Home.
Pepsi Pakistan has launched the book already on 14th June,2017. A photo exhibition was held at Lahore on 14thJune, where Pepsi has portrayed some really good images of their powerful work they had been doing for years for the betterment of the society. With the photo exhibition, they have also launched their book. This book is a must see and read. It has the glimpses of all the difference Pepsi has been creating with the help of all the pepsi fans over the years in the life of people living in the off-grid areas.
This movement by Pepsi was backed by huge number of Pakistanis, who are participating in the #EyesClosedForLight campaign and nominating their loved ones to do this for a cause by posting their pictures with closed eyes and the hashtag on their social media platforms. Closing the eyes resembles to the experience those individuals who don’t have have access to light and they are spending life in darkness.  Till date Pepsi has successfully covered 40 plus villages across Pakistan with their partners ACE welfare Foundation. This year through their digital campaign Pepsi is tracking their daily impressions and also aims to invest further into this cause if the number of hashtags increases more than their set target.
Close your eyes and feel the darkness that millions of Pakistanis live through every day. I lend my support to the #EyesClosedForLight movement as every time you upload your picture with the hashtag #EyesClosedForLight , Pepsi lights up one life in return. So spread the word and carry the message forward. #PepsiLiterofLight I nominate @anousheyashraf @khanahsanofficial & @aijazz to post the same.
A post shared by Ayesha Omar (@ayesha.m.omar) on Jun 5, 2017 at 11:49am PDT
When approached to the Marketing Director of Pepsi and he was asked about the campaign, he expresses his views about the campaign as “We started the campaign two years ago in a bid to bring a real difference to the lives of Pakistanis. Since the beginning of Ramadan this year, we started our campaign of installing lights with the aim to impact at least 30,000 lives or more just this year.”
Tumblr media
Our goal is to pull Pakistani people out of darkness and improve their quality of life. In this effort so far we have installed a number of street and portable lights in the areas surrounding KPK, Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab from June till October. We aim to do more through this campaign each year to make life easier for all”.
At the launch ceremony of the book, held at Lahore on 14th June, Amongst many celebrities and prominent personalities like Mehwish Hayat, Mehreen Syed, Atif Aslam, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Cybil Choudhry, Amna Babar, Mira Sethi, Adnan Siddiqui and Munib Nawaz and many more came together to support this initiative.

A Morning With Myself
Almost daily, the craze of books & craving for golf wakes me up at 3:00 AM. Had I been that zealous about reading during my school years the story would be different today. Any way better late than never. As soon as I open my eyes, my hand begins to move in search of my phone, I grab it and exert to my favorite seat, the toilet seat, half awake. Through my book app I resume to listen to the narrator from the point I shut him the night before. Books often make me lose touch with my surroundings. Only when my legs begin to numb, do I come back to my senses. Morning hygiene and ablution are the most underrated comforts in our lives and tea/coffee is most overrated. Anyhow the forced arrival of COVID-19 has added more value to this unholy ritual. On top of this, we have to wash hands frequently, rubbing for at least twenty seconds. My other half has a sacred devotion to Dove soap. Consequently, my hands have begun to smell like it, and soon they will start behaving like a bird and might grow feathers to flutter. They have softened and become wrinkly because of the regular wash. Rather, remnants of glycerin from the hand wash and sanitizer seems to find its way into my food. I even ignore it with an assumption that crumbs of chloride from the soap might meet any offspring of coronavirus inside my stomach and tear it apart. Benzalkonium chloride is an effective protection against Draconian
Coronavirus but it intends to peel the skin off my fingers, bringing their inner biological textures (the dermis) to light. Golfers are used to having multicolored skin, our faces, right hands, the crus and forearms are customarily tanner than the rest of our bodies. This is all thanks to the exposure of sunlight on the course. The double toned body is a golfer's trophy.
Audiobook narrators have a certain manner to write with their lips, and the listener develops an art to read it with their ears. I think only a fractional comprehension can be attained through audio readings but one can claim to be a great listener since at this age we no longer write book reports. It's time for morning prayer, half heartedly I turn it off and perform one. Worship is easier said than done. I guess most of us do lie about it sheepishly. If it was that easy we would have had more saints than sinners.
“ I know all about the rewards of reverence
But don’t feel like doing it.”
Mirza Ghalib
Once I reach my closet for a golf outfit, it awakens me entirely. The gasoline-like aroma of dry clean has a special ingredient to awaken me from my slumber, maybe it’s the sight of polo shirts that ignite energy within me. Golfers wear branded shirts as if the insignia of the fashion line would help them perform better on the course, mostly to no avail. Brands won’t make us worthy but brilliance does.
It is 4:40AM now. Tip top, array in Walter Hagen attire and perfumed with Jimmy Choo, I appear from my room as if stepping on a stage, soundlessly snail through the house without any disturbance to the deeply asleep household. I emerge from the front door without a squeak. My chauffeur is ready, with the car running and my golf kit neatly placed in the trunk. Since I didn’t bring any extra luggage to take to the club’s locker room, he pushes the remote button to close the trunk. I hurl myself into the back seat. Driver shuts the door gently. The main gate of the house opens and we are on the move to the golf course. My chauffeur and I are so trained now in sneaking in and out of the house that we can easily perform a burglary in neighboring homes.
Early morning hymns in a predawn drive to the golf club on lonely roads has delight of its own. The Atif Aslam Coke Studio collection makes my spirit soar with angel’s wings. There are a couple of people ahead of us, my driver exclaims,
“Do you think I am the only mad guy in this town”, I reply.
The chirping of feathered flying friends is the most dominant sound today on the golf course. There are plenty of early birds on the tee this morning so I choose to start from the back nine. I prefer flying solo as long as the threat of COVID-19 is present. Although golf is not as fun alone; buddies are as integral as a ball. Who sees a peacock dance alone in the jungle? And what is a fish without a pound? What is a performer without an audience?
On the other hand, quarantine has revealed a reality to me, that being alone has its own perks: I have made contact with an unknown part of me. I have met myself. Discovered my mute side. The beating of my heart is heard clearly. My undiscovered qualities are disclosed to me. I know my soul now. I can guess what an alone moon out there feels? I see the dreams of a lonely heart. I have grasped the meaning of love from a distance. A writer has emerged from inside of my soul. I awaken a poet from within me. Most of all I enjoy solitary golf and an exclusive dwell.
I am going to leave it to the times ahead to find out if it is better to stay in a crowd or be alone.
In the meantime I rock on with White Snake, to the next fairway.
No, I don't know where I'm goin'
But I sure know where I've been
Hanging on the promises in songs of yesterday
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
Though I keep searchin' for an answer
I never seem to find what I'm lookin' for
Oh Lord, I pray you give me strength to carry on
'Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
And here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
Just another heart in need of rescue
Waiting on love's sweet charity
I'm gonna hold on for the rest of my days
'Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
And here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
But here I go again
Here I go again
Here I go again
Ooh baby, ooh yeah
And I've made up my mind
Ooh baby, ain't wasting no more time
And here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone
'Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
Here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known

Kashmir-Hum Awards brings stars to Canada
New Post has been published on https://latestnews2018.com/kashmir-hum-awards-brings-stars-to-canada/
Kashmir-Hum Awards brings stars to Canada
Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Ahad Raza Mir and Hania Amir take to the stage for the awards show
Pakistani film and television stars dressed in their finest designer wear as they attended the 6th Kashmir-Hum Awards, held at the enormous First Ontario Centre in Hamilton, Canada. Hum TV Network’s flagship event was previously held internationally in Dubai in 2015.
The Hamilton event saw a huge turnout of non-resident Pakistanis and Indians, and the stars gladly stopped to wave back at their fans and oblige them with selfies.
Mahira Khan, who looked resplendent in a shimmery blue anarkali, had the crowd swooning as she danced to a medley of songs from her many hit films. Atif Aslam easily had the most electrifying effect on the audience, as he performed a variety of tracks, ending with Dil Diyaan Gallan from last year’s Bollywood blockbuster Tiger Zinda Hai.
Humayun Saeed also took to the stage, along with his Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 costar Kubra Khan, while the winner of New Sensation (TV) and Best Actor (Popular) Ahad Raza Mir shocked everyone with his daredevil stunt before dancing with his Parwaaz Hai Junoon leading lady Hania Amir. Model and actor Mikaal Zulfikar and Hareem Farooq also performed together.
Earlier, the show began with the Pakistan’s national anthem, which was followed by Canada’s national anthem. Like any other film or TV awards event, this one too was eventually about honouring the best in the business.
Mahira Khan was adjudged the Best Actress (Film) for her author-backed role in Verna, where she played a rape survivor. Fawad Khan presented the award to her.
The trophy for Best Actor (Film) went to Humayun Saeed for Punjab Nahi Jaungi, while Sajal Aly walked away with the maximum number of awards — Best Actress (Popular) for drama serial Yaqeen Ka Safar, and Best Actress (Jury) for O Rangreza. She and Ahad Raza were declared the Best Onscreen Couple for Yaqeen Ka Safar.
Sana Fakhir and Imran Ashraf won awards for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor categories respectively. Sania Saeed walked away with the Most Impactful Character (Female) award for Sammi, while veteran actor Qavi Khan won the Most Impactful Character (Male) for Alif Allah Aur Insan.
Ace cricketer Shahid Afridi won the International Icon of the Year, while former actress star Reema Khan got the Excellence in Cinema Award. Renowned beautician and social activist Masarrat Misbah was given the Excellence in Humanity Award.
The other stars who graced the night included Adnan Siddiqi, Mawra Hocane, Armeena Rana Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Vaneeza Ahmad, Shahzad Sheikh, Bilal Khan, Arsalan Butt, Sanam Jung, Samina Peerzada, and Bushra Ansari. The event was hosted by Ali Rehman Khan, Yasir Hussain, and Ahmad Ali Butt.
