This one was sort of an accidental WIP born out of something else I was working on! I think I put a little bit of it on twitter at some point. I'd been working on a set of OT3 smooches/clothes swaps, and on a Mac x Deacon smooch specifically. I decided to do the background first since I'd waited 'til the end to do that on the prior Nat/Deacon smooch and found I had to make a lot of adjustments on color as a result. I did this sort of water-colory thing that has some spray effect in the back. I happened to switch some layers off on accident and realized the boys looked sort of constellationy like that. I started adding in some white lines that were unexpectedly powerful and had a little lightbulb moment about continuing the piece in that direction as opposed to what I initially intended to do with it. It felt like a Bob Ross "happy accidents" sort of thing.

I ended up stalling out on both directions mostly due to Mac's hair. Drawing hair has been one of the hardest things for me to figure out in terms of drawing people/faces and short hair especially has given me some hell. I do feel like I got it down much better in another piece I've been working on. It was less of a rage quit and more of a "I'll try again later", but in the meantime, I've forgotten what brushes I was using, and have changed how I do a lot of things so, I am scratching my head about how/whether to pick it up again. It is like 80% done, and I am proud of the fight I had to turn Bobby's nose into a "MacCready" vs a "Nigel Thornberry" so I will likely come back to it at some point. I want to pick up the starry style again for another/different DeaCready pose in the future that's maybe more serious-romantic than silly romantic.
