ANDREA “ANDY” HALE — jade

Since Andy was 12 years old, she's wanted to act. Her mother was a pretty famous actress, and all she wanted to do was follow in her footsteps. She's had some luck in finding some acting jobs, but only small roles. Her parents died when she was 12, and she had to live with her abusive grandmother. The moment she was old enough to leave, she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, because it was the only place her parents ever took her to. She was left enough money to pay for a year of college, and has been struggling with money ever since the money ran out. She had to drop out of college, since she refuses to ask her grandmother for money. After saving up for a really long time, a friend of hers convince her she should take a break and go on a cruise. Her Spanish was pretty good, so she wanted to see if some place else would be a great new starting place. She decided to take a cruise to Puerto Rico, a place she'd almost visited with her parents. 

She now wishes she'd never listened to her friend.

Nicholas Rush is a semi-successful painter who lives in a mid-sized apartment in the lower end of Glasgow's busiest district. He had managed a fair living off his works and has even had a couple of well-received galleries, though the extent of his artistic fame doesn't extend much beyond that. While not the most brilliant artistic soul on the block, he has been nothing but content with his way of life. He has a nice place, a good reputation and decent standing within the artistic community. He has his friends and tends to get along well with people, both charming and out-going where his looks might not win him any extra points. 

After the moderate success of his most recent showing, Nicholas decided to treat himself to nice little vacation. A cruise was something he'd never been on before, and now that he was finally making enough money with his work to enjoy his life a little more, what was there stopping him from doing just that? While he had plenty of friends, he had never had much of a love life. His family was distant at best, too. So there was really no reason not to disappear for a week and just have some fun.

Kinsley Ronan always found coloring outside the lines thrilling, even as a child. As New York welcomed the sun and warm breeze, the Ronans welcomed their first daughter. She loved both her parents, and they had loved her  back. If only the same thing could be said about the feelings they had for each other. Kinsley was to stay with her mother, while her father was a world away from them. Like many other kids, she went through phases of what she wanted to be when she grew up, but eventually landing on one that she liked; app developer. Many saw her to be acquaintances, never to the point of an actual friendship blossoming. And because of that, nobody expected her to join a band with upperclassmen as the lead guitarist. But her future was set in stone with an early acceptance to MIT. Defying every expectation set of her; that was everything Kinsley Ronan stood for.

ABILITIES: Sure, humans don’t have abilities that stem from magic and mutations, but they have potential, that’s for sure. Kady’s got some skills with technologic machinery and whatnot, from taking them apart and making something useful to hacking her way to good grades back in high school. Something else, maybe it’s because she has lived on the brinks of outer space, but gravity’s hold over her isn’t that strong. By that, it means that her feet barely touch the ground. In addition to that, she’s actually really flexible with her body to an understandable point. After all, she is still human.

Raven grew up with very strict parents and a strict schedule to follow. Go to school, be home by this time. By the time she was ten years old, she was sick of it, and started to sneak out. Her parents planned everything of her life, including a marriage for when she turned twenty one. So in no surprise, she ran away when she was fifteen years old. Busking away to earn money for food, shelter wasn’t a priority but food was. But, soon enough she started to earn enough with her busking and a little bit of begging, and a few minor jobs here and there on her way to New York. Music was one of the paths she wanted to do, but wasn’t the one she planned for yet it seems that music is the path that choose her. (Her other choices  for herself were going to be Lawyer or Personal Trainer). She’s found that being in a band, can be fun.

Gideon Alexander Lightwood was born to two highly successful business people. His father was in line to be CEO and his mother was a high-profile lawyer. From the time he was born, he was being groomed to follow in his father’s footstep – as their only child – but as he grew older, he started to realize that was not the life he wanted. When he was in high school, he came out to his parents. It went.....alright. They didn’t disown him and tried to be supportive (they never mentioned it again). Then when he graduated, he told them he wouldn’t be taking over for his father. They all but shoved him out the door, cut off his trust fund and only left him with the savings he’d made that summer. Somehow, he pulled together – he got a job interning as an event planner (waiting tables on the side to make money) and worked his way up. Now he’s fairly successful, in high demand, and aboard a cruise he’d gotten as a present from a client for a job well done.

ABILITIES: As a Shadowhunter Alec has angelic blood in his veins. They have enhanced abilities and runes on their skin. Each mark gives a different ability and can be permanent or merely temporary. These marks are burned onto the skin and either fade when they’ve been used, or in the case of permanent marks, can be activated by the use of the stele. He’s also very skilled with a bow and arrow.

DIRK GENTLY — blix

Born into a family business. The most boring family business in existence, his family have threaded the stringy bits on bookmarks for three generations. When that became automated by machines and big companies the family business began to collapse on itself but Dirk has been fighting progress to keep his families business alive and threading even if he’s the last one standing. He’s not doing a very good job of it. Actually he doesn’t appear to be particularly good at very many things at all. 

He was never supposed to be on the ship in the first place but as he was conveniently passing the port and watching the passengers boarding on with a dreamy expression, imagining one day he might be able to afford a fancy cruise somewhere exotic when his great-great-grandfathers first strung ‘lucky’ bookmark blew out of his grasp and onto the ship. 

He might have snuck aboard to grab it and then get back out again only the ship had already set sail before he could. Oops.

ABILITIES: Causality psychic; is able to perceive the interconnectedness between things. He gets vague hunches regarding the tangential connections between people, things and events that appear to be psychic intuition. Has a habit of putting people where they need to be and 'getting involved' even if he doesn't want to.

TYENE SANDERS — twist

Tyene comes from a family with connections.  Her father isn't Spielburg, but he produced him once, and had the LA lifestyle that went with it, and her mother was his third wife, an old-money philanthropist who didn't last long in the raucous lifestyle.  Tyene was well-raised nonetheless, spending time with both parents, traveling extensively and generally being one of the less-known celebrity offspring, though that did her the benefit of keeping her reputation intact.   As she got older the limelight seemed too obvious and too constraining.  With her father's blessing she pursued more scholarly pursuits, attending a prestigious college and getting her doctorate in pharmacology, then working with charitable organizations to send medicines overseas.  However, as she was planning the trip to the Caribbean one of her many sisters suggested taking a cruise and she couldn't decline- time with her family was so rare with their lifestyles.  Why not have some fun?

ABILITIES: Snake wrangling, desert and beach survival, poison making, herbalism, cooking, subterfuge and sleight of hand.

Growing up in Harlem, Raphael always kinda dreamed of getting out of there. The only thing his father ever gifted him was a scar on his cheek, and while his mother was loving, she struggled a lot to accept him and his younger sister after they came out. Rosa and he moved out at 18/17 and managed to get a small flat in Brooklyn. He went to college, studied forensic science and dance, and tried to survive the family dinners. Now, Raphael runs a flower shop with his best friend, offering floral services for events. He was on the cruise to look after the plants they had there and make sure the theater was filled with the right amount of bouquets. 

Raphael lives on sarcasm and has a Death Glare™ which saves him from unwanted attention; with his friends though, he is warm, soft, and loyal. Generally, Raphael is rather anxious due to different experiences he's made, doesn't like taking risks, seems anti-social, but at the same time tries to be brave, despite his height of 5'5.

ABILITIES: inhuman speed/reflexes/senses/strength; a pair of fangs; transformation into several small mammals, insects and into smoke; needs a human or animal blood-based diet, though former is preferable; speaks a handful of languages; mind manipulation and memory erasure; immortality and eternal youth; his weaknesses include fire, silver, wooden stakes, holy ground and angelic weapons, sunlight, and mundane food, as well as the fact that he is slowly drifting away from humanity

Clary grew up with her mother, Jocelyn and step father Luke it was a pretty happy life, a good few select people she calls friends and a family who loves her. She has always been an energetic kind of girl, insecurities weren’t her thing, at least that is what she wanted everyone to think. She can be the kind of person to secluded herself off and just be found drawing away. Art is her passion, and the love of her life. It’s what drives her in life, she even started a graphic novel when she was sixteen and it’s still a work in progress. She had taken a break in her book development when her mother died, she couldn’t do it anymore. So, she took up a job outside of school to keep her busy, at her favourite coffee shop. Now, at the age of eighteen she wanted to pick it back up and thought that a cruise would help inspire her.

ABILITIES: a fast learner, quick study. she can draw anyone or anything from memory, then, adding on her abilities she gains through her nephilim blood; she is able to find herself seeing new runes to help her and others out that not even years trained nephlilim know of. runes help her with everything, from vision to strength to hearing and more.

Devoting herself to her schooling, Caroline became a professor of mechanics at the University of Michigan. Meanwhile, her husband moved on from academia and got a job as a weapons engineer. After this, their marriage took a turn. With her husband growing increasingly distant and aggravated, Caroline buried herself in her work. Eventually, his health began to decline. Driven by a misplaced loyalty, Caroline became more and more involved with his research behind the scenes, cleaning up his messes and helping him finalize projects. The cruise was his final gift to her.

Growing up, responsibility had never been Peter's strongest suit.  He'd never been a high achiever, he'd never sought out or fortune or even success.  Really, he'd just wanted to live his life to its fullest and that happened to mean a very different thing for him than it had meant for his father.  Starstuff Toys meant the world to James Read, the London-based company growing more and more over the years.  With that passion, however, came the expectation that his only child, Peter, would inherit the company the day that he left.  A strong fit of rebellion when the time came, though, involving drugs and theft eventually led to his stern father losing what little patience he had and disowning his son.  Peter struggled for some time, doing odd jobs here and there but never wanting to commit.  He'd never been good at commitment in any aspect of his life, to be fair.  

A desperate time in his life, though, led him to the Bermuda Escape where he worked as a barista.  Not that his co-workers weren't often wondering where he was while he was off swimming in the pool and bowling on the clock.
