Flower Dance (SDV Sebastian x OC Farmer)

I wrote this on a whim so it’s probably not good lmao. Anyway the general idea of this was based on this comic by @cynicalstith

Peach had been dreading the Flower Dance since Mayor Lewis first told her about it. The idea of it sounded nice but as a newcomer, the only activity Peach would be participating in is standing awkwardly on her own as everyone around her has fun.

She took a deep breath as she enters the mountain area where the event is taking place, already going over her excuse to leave early. Instead of her normal jeans and white shirt combo, Peach decided to go with a simple light orange sundress. It wasn’t really her style, but there were a few people she was hoping to impress.

“Hey, Peach!” A loud voice snaps her out of her thoughts.

A small smile spreads across her face as she approaches Sam, Sebastian and Abigail. “Hi, Sam.” Peach responds before following it up with a greeting for the other two. Sam and Peach bonded pretty quickly, not really giving her a choice to dislike Sebastian and Abigail.

“You’re really lucky you don’t have to dance today,” Sebastian mumbles, fidgeting with his collar.

“It’s a bit of a dated tradition” Abigail starts, “but it’ll be fun Seb!” she elbows his side.

You and Sam laugh at the two. Sam has always joked that they act like a married couple, and even Peach would have a hard time disputing that, she may have a crush on Sebastian but she isn’t blind.

Penny approaches the small group, seeming a little uncertain. “Hey… Hi guys.” Penny smiles, shyly raising her hand to wave.

“Penny!” Sam grins, seeming a little more excited.

Penny greets everyone before letting get back to their conversation from earlier, leaving her and Penny standing on the outside just listening in. “I like your dress,” Peach says, quiet enough to not disrupt the other conversation but loud enough that Penny could hear.

“Thank you.” Penny curtly replies before she quickly turns around and starts walking back towards Maru, leaving Peach confused and a little disappointed.

Peach wanders around for a little bit before Mayor Lewis calls out that the dance will start in a moments time. She watches the people around her make their way to the dancefloor, Sam grabs Penny’s hand and starts running towards the area, shocking Penny to the point she almost falls to the ground. Abigail and Sebastian follow them at a much slower pace, walking casually and laughing amongst themselves.

Everyone gets into position to start the dance when a pang appears in Peach’s heart, not only because the person she fancies is dancing with someone else, but also because deep down Peach knows she doesn’t really belong here.

Her eyes are focused on Sebastian and Abigail the whole time. Occasionally Sebastian will look up, meeting Peach’s eyes with a smile.

Towards the end of the dance Peach slowly begins to back up. With one last lingering stare, she turns around to leave.

What was she even thinking coming here? Her Dad was right, she wouldn’t make it a month.
