A/N: Day 7 Part 1 of @fluffbruary

“Potatoes taste… less like mud. Are they getting… better?” Tamerlane Usher mutters the words and Charlotte Richards barely hides her laugh. She had been thinking the same thing, but Tamerlane’s light comment is charming. Tamerlane is usually less than friendly, icy even, but lately the girl has been quietly confident. A change that Charlotte knows people are also seeing in her. “Seem to be.” Charlotte’s smile is quick and warm, her side-glance at Tamerlane rewarded with a half-smile, her own laughter echoing when Tamerlane shrugs as she bites into more potatoes. “About time.” They’ve been doing these fundraiser dinners for years. Charlotte as an Usher family rep has proven a worthy successor to the late Pym reaper and Tamerlane seems much happier now she is left with only Camille and Victorine as company, free of her family needing her in charge, the three women run their company together and Charlotte smooths over what few mistakes still happen. Finally, Charlotte thinks, they are free.

okay so like obviously i hate online school and fuck my history teacher for making me do 5 pages of notes for no reason but

here’s a list of weird history facts that i’ve come across that i’ll add to later:

- during the french revolution, a woman named CHARLOTTE CORDAY assassinated a journalist named marat. when she was questioned about it at trial, she was tied up and someone tried to grab papers that she had in her dress (they were unimportant, just a memento from her hometown). she jerked back and ripped her dress and her titties were just… out. the people questioning her untied her and turned her chair around so that she could mend her dress with the needle and thread she had in her pocket for some reason

- also on charlotte corday, over time people have randomly decided she’s blonde for literally NO REASON AT ALL. historically, she had “chestnut brown” hair but over time people started describing her as “fair” and no one knows why. oh and also this was important because remember that time when her titties were out at her trial? yeah she leaned forward to cover them with her hair

- MOTHERFUCKING TIMUR. this bitch was raised rich but for some reason he liked to steal sheep? and once, while he was sheep stealing, he got shot?? he lost a few fingers and his leg wasn’t right afterwards but nonetheless he continued conquering and being brutal. he’s also known as tamerlane which means timur the lame (he also killed like 5% of the earth’s population) (oh and also he was completely illiterate) (he was born in 1336 and died in 1405)

- one of timur’s greatest moves was when he was fighting an army of men who rode elephants, and those elephants had poison on their tusks. he decided to put wood onto camel’s backs and light it on fire. HE FOUGHT POISON ELEPHANTS WITH FLAMING CAMELS

- marie antoinette NEVER. never said “let them eat cake” and was actually known to be “tender-hearted”

- so at the start there was one pope. then, there were two popes. then three. all at the same time in 1410

- women were told to leave french camps during the revolution. out of all of the women, only three did (two voluntarily, one forcibly removed)

- in 1800 in france it was illegal for women to wear pants unless they had a “cross-dressing permit” or they’d be charged with fraud

- the Incan empire had no forms of writing but were very successful in their attempts at terrace farming, freeze-dying food and GODDAMN BRAIN SURGERY

- the women’s march on versailles (aka the october march) was when a group of women were fed up with how they had to live so they gathered, put bread on pikes, and charged to versailles. a bunch of men followed them and together they basically snatched the king from the castle and showed him how paris was suffering

btw most of these are about france during the revolution because that’s what i’m doing an assignment on but a few are just random things that i find entertaining
