Time for a random hill I am willing to die on, so what in the Titans name is Hooty
beginning with few things we know:
He is a bug type demon and demons are born from a titans body & magic
House demons are not common but also not extremely rare (coven heads are confused in Hollow Mind but Amity is like, yea, house demons do be like that)
Hooty is not dependent on the place he lives in - can freely detach himself from the house and just go somewhere what does not affect neither him nor the house
Hooty is terrotorial and protects the place he lives in
There are organs with own pulse inside the walls of the Owl House
All of this being said, I believe demons later called "house" demons were born from wounds on titans body. After titan got hurt, lost an eye in some manner, a bug type demon formed or moved into the wound establishing in there sort of symbiotic relationship. Maybe protecting the space from other creatures that did try to feed on the wound. Long after titans were gone they just continued to live in crevices and protect spaces around them what was later was used by witches to guard their homes earning them the name "house" demon.
Role of house demons on titans might be similar to the one of Oxpeckers on big animals that are unable to get rid of small parasites. Titans are huge and seeing how some characters were literally walking through their empty veins it would be extremely difficult for them to get rid of pests themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On how is he attached to the space around him, I think he might have some kind of specialised organ letting him attach and form new connections to the space around him.
Tumblr media
With time the connections gaining mass and requiring better energy flow they start form organs around the space and a circulation system (that's why there is a pulse even after Hooty is not longer in the door). And that's also why King, Lilith and Luz might have had such disgusted reactions to seeing him leave his place. But whatever he uses to attach to the house it might be pretty vulnerable, so he acts like a hermit crab getting from one shell to another and thats how we get porta Hooty.
But HEY if he has organs that connect him to the house why can he just take of his skin like a sock. My brother in Titan. Skin is a organ too and we literally saw him leave some spare ones in the door. There is literally nothing that says he even requires it and cant be just a skeleton horror with only the essentials near base of his body.
On why I dont think he is a parasite like Cymothoa exigua (tongue eating louse) is because I'm pretty sure Titan would be able to get rid of them himself (and it would mean Hooty ate his way into the titan witch I refuse to consider). It can't be comfortable to have a weird bug in your eye socket just singing to themself all day, so they had to have benefited from it somehow, or at least didnt mind, as Hooty is protective of his space that wouldnt be a strech. Also if they were parasites it would just add insult to injury if they hanged around even after death xD
Im sure Im not the first one to have this thought but I literally searched for theories on him and only found the parasite interpretation witch I don't vibe that much with
and while we are at the topic of Hooty I highly encourage to listen to unhinged Dutch Hooty, I was in tears the first time I heard him. Apologies for video quality tho, it refused work any other way

An introduction to VR passenger carriages, part 1: the blue carriages
In our next series of introducing our rolling stock, we will be looking at passenger carriages. I was actually thinking of doing multiple units next, but @hapotonradio requested I do the blue carriages and a lot of people seemed to like the idea so here we go.
Tumblr media
A Dr13-hauled train consisting of blue carriages arriving in Turku Harbour, 1995. Falk1, Wikimedia Commons
I can already hear foreigners (and non-rail enthusiast Finns too) going "what the hell are the blue carriages?" Well, the blue carriages were/are the first Finnish steel-bodied passenger carriages, with over 600 units (depending a bit on what you count as being actual blue carriages) of different types built between 1961 and 1986. Today, almost all of them have been retired. Which is a shame, because they were sexy.
The first 15 blue carriages were built by the West German Maschinenfabrik Esslingen, who also designed them, in 1961. This original batch were equipped with different types of boggies, from which the Minden-Deutz boggie was chosen for the eventual mass-produced series built in-house by the VR Pasila workshop starting from 1964 (Valmet also built a small number of carriages).
Tumblr media
A combined 1st and 2nd class carriage as built, 1964. At this point they still had steel covering the underbody from the sides. These hems were later removed to better display the arousing technical bits. Olavi Karasjoki, Suomen rautatiemuseo.
Tumblr media
President Kekkonen (the bald dude) visiting the above carriage. Olavi Karasjoki, Suomen rautatiemuseo.
The initial batch consisted of ten 2. class carriages (littera Eit), four combined 1. and 2. class coaches (lit. CEit) and one 1. class coach (lit. Cit). As you can maybe figure out, the -t at the end stood for teräs, steel, to distinguish from the old wood-bodied coaches. In addition to the regular first- and second-class coaches, the blue carriages' base design was adopted for restaurant cars (litteras Rbkt, Rt, Rkt and Rk), combined condutor's and luggage cars (lits. Fot, Efit and Efiti), sleepers (CEmt), aggregate cars to use on non-electrified tracks (Eifet), carriages with children's playrooms (ELht), postal carriages (Pot), military transport (Ems), prisoner transport (Nom), special carriages for the president and cabinet (A), and even a one-off disco carriage. The latter in particular fucked severely. All those sweaty bodies having it on inside a train...
Some sources also list the Eil-class local traffic coaches as blue carriages, but since they had some structural differences and were originally painted red rather than blue, I'm going to cover them in a separate entry.
Tumblr media

Over the quarter of a century the blue carriages were in production, numerous improvements were made to the original design; most notably, the original top service speed of 120 km/h was increased first to 140 km/h and then to 160 km/h in some units.
By the time the last blue carriages were delivered in 1986, their star was already waning. In 1988, the first new Intercity carriages (in a white and red IC delivery) were delivered, and Intercity trains replaced the blue-carriaged special express (erikoispikajuna) trains as the flagship product. With the arrival of the Intercity carriages, and the double-decker carriages from 1998 onwards, the blue carriages were phased out.
Tumblr media
Blue carriages at the Turku depot, an Eifet aggregate car repainted in the Intercity livery in the 1990s and CEmt sleepers (both carriages visible behind the Eifet; the sleepers have asymmetric window arrangements). My photo
Today, the only blue carriages still in use in the iconic original livery as sleepers in night trains to Lapland, and prison transport carriages. Some restaurant cars, aggregate cars and conductor's carriages still exist, but they have been repainted in the newer liveries. Several blue carriages have also been preserved by different instances and they're relatively commonly seen in heritage/museum trains these days.

Violet Evergarden Orchestra Concert: Official Event Report
Tumblr media
KyoAni&Do Fan Days 2019
← Previous || Index || Next →
Tumblr media
On Saturday, November 9, 2019, the “Violet Evergarden Orchestra Concert 2019: Kyoto Performance” was held at the main hall of Rohm Theater in Kyoto.
Tumblr media
There was a single typewriter on the stage. Once the opening bell rang, Ishikawa Yui-san, who plays Violet Evergarden, revealed herself. Hiting the typewriter’s keys gently, she said, “Pleased to make your acquaintace. I rush wherever my clients might desire. I am from the Auto-Memories Doll service, Violet Evergarden”, and along with Violet’s greetings, the curtains of the concert opened.
Tumblr media
What was performed was the “Theme of Violet Evergarden”. The screen reflected the cityscapes of Leidenscaftlich, where Violet and the others spend their days, dyeing the venue into a “Violet Evergarden” world.
Tumblr media
Next was the opening theme song “Sincerely”. The strong singing voice of TRUE-san, who had come on-stage, reverberated throughout the hall. As Ishikawa Yui-san and Gilbert Bougainvillea’s voice actor, Namikawa Daisuke-san reappeared on-stage, the audience sent them a loud applause.
Tumblr media
This time, the one delivering the Orchestra Concert was the orchestra that represents the Kansai region, the Kansai Phillarmonic Orchestra and the conductor was Kurita Hirofumi-san. Having said the performance was so wonderful that he sat open-mouthed and his mouth ended up doing dry, Namikawa-san was showered with warm laughter. TRUE-san said, “I came here thinking of conveying all the love there is, so I hope this will be a day filled with love”, and Ishikawa-san spoke about her enthusiasm for the concert, “Please enter the world of ‘Violet’ to your hearts’ contentment”.
“Major’s eyes are here. They are the same color as Major’s eyes. This thing... from when I looked at it... I wonder what it is called.”
As if informing the beginning of the story, together with the words from the young Violet, “A Doll’s Beginning” was played. A video of the first episode was displayed in the screen. Namikawa-san said passionately, “Even just a clip of blooming flowers can make you emotional”. “One Last Message”, “The Voice in My Heart”, “Ink to Paper” and others painted with the colors of the “Violet” world, and the music that nestled with the audience was played sensibly, sometimes dynamically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then came “The Birth of a Legend”, which left an impressive echo during the scene where Violet writes Iris’s letter. And so, compositions that leave different impressions, such as “Those Words You Spoke to Me” and “The Long Night”, were performed next.
Thus began “Letter”, in which Violet bloomed as an Auto-Memories Doll. Along with a video of the opera singer Ilma Felice, TRUE-san came on stage. As if she were singing with Ilma, a dramatic air was created. Generosu applause was sent from the audience seats to TRUE-san’s powerfully appealing song.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the talk corner with Ishikawa-san and Namikawa-san, impressions about the performance they had heard until that point and episodes about Evan Call-san’s music production were discussed.
“Listening to the music makes me remember the scenes and it is very moving,” said Ishikawa-san. Namikawa-san commented that he was touched by the strength of the condutor, who united shapeless “sounds” into one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a talk with Evan-san, there was also a moment where Ishikawa-san asked about inside stories of the musical compositions. He commented the music of “Violet” took the means of having its course decided through arrangements with the music producer, Saitou Shigeru-san, then he composed song demos and later adding elements that he had come up with. Evan-san spoke about how he received hints of the series’ world-building and developments through the original light novel’s commercial, thus creating the music little by little. He added a joke, “I also thought of making it funk or R&B-like music. But I stopped upon thinking about the world-building, and I’m glad I didn’t make it funk or R&B in the end”, and so, the talk corner became lively.
With the orchestra being ushered in once again, “Across the Violet Sky” started. The screen displayed episode seven, the story of the playwright Oscar Webster and his only daughter, Olivia. And then, it went back to Violet and Gilbert’s first meeting and parting along with the performance of “Inconsolable” and “Fractured Heart”. Guided by the orcherstra’s performance, the days the two spent together, their feelings that missed one another and words that went unconveyed were revived.
Tumblr media
Violet reminisced to Gilbert’s words as if they were a treasure. As Namikawa-san recited Gilbert’s words, “Violet... You’re Violet. When you grow up, you’ll definitely become a woman fitting of that name. You’ll be not a tool but a person who suits that name”, it was as if Gilbert himself were present. The song “Believe in...” nestled close to Violet as if to guide her, and Yuuki Aira appeared on the stage. “That’s why you should face tomorrow without forgetting,” she sang gently, almost as if talking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yuuki-san wrote the lyrics of “Believe in...” herself. “The ninth episode (the one in which the song plays) is a story about Violet facing her past and growing up, so I wrote the lyrics with the thought that she should move forward, no matter how many painful things had happened,” she said, and while touching upon the fact that Evan-san had composed it so that it would fit an orchestra and recorded it in a way that it would be a richly expressive song, Yuuki-san added, “We have a full orchestra, so I sang while keeping that in mind”.
A scene where Ann Magnolia, who makes an appearance on episode 10, cries and screams in front of Violet was displayed in the screen, and from violin tune that seemed transparent, “Letters from Heaven” began. The sounds overlapped with the scene of Ann growing up, earning sobs from the audience.
Tumblr media
And, as the concert ended, Evan-san appeared. He conducted two tracks, “What It Means to Love” and “Violet’s Letter”, himself. A loud applause was delivered to these two tracks, which were particularly representative even amongst the many songs that had continuously depicted “Violet Evergarden”.
At the end of the concert, Chihara-san sang the ending theme song “Michishirube”. The venue was enveloped in emotion by her comfortable singing voice, the delicate piano tunes, and the warm orchestra performance.
Tumblr media
While the applause for an encore did not stop, Kurita-san suddenly reappeared from the stage wing, and just when people thought he was going to head to the podium, he went back to the stage wing... Loud laughter ensued in the venue. As Kurita-san appeared on stage for real thist time, the venue was engulfed in heat with even louder applause.
What had started was “Waltz” from “Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eternity and the Auto-Memories Doll”. And then “Amy”. Violet danced with Amy Bartlett clad in pure white dancewear. Having come up on stage at the same time as Taylor Bartlett reached a hand out to the sky, Chihara-san gently sang “Amy” with tears in her eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The song after the encore was the beginning song of “Violet Evergarden”, “Violet Snow”. The beautiful melody and Yuuki-san’s singing voice enveloped the venue. The countless ribbons and stars raining from the ceiling were almost like the Flying Letters of episode 13. The sight that was as if people were watching the Flying Letters together with Violet and the others became one with the orchestra’s perfomance, gracing the last of the concert. As Chihara-san said, “I will sing ‘Michishirube’ and ‘Amy’ while cherishing them from now on too”, she received warm applause.
With the ending approaching, as all the performers came on stage, Ishikawa-san looked across the fully occupied venue with wet eyes, saying, “I am filled to the brim with extreme happiness when I think that so many people have attended, and that the series titled ‘Violet Evergarden’ has grown and become a work that you all can love.” Moreover, when touching upon the “Violet Evergarden Movie”, as she said, “I think of doing my best to be able to perform a wonderful act that will not lose to the animation. Please look forward to it, everyone”, a powerful applause was delivered to her. And so, being left alone on the stage, Ishikawa-san ended the concert with “that greeting”.
Tumblr media
Displayed on the dimmed screen was a special video of the “Violet Evergarden Movie”. The words “2020 4.24 (Fri) ROADSHOW” written at the end of the video shook the hall with surprise and joy. Amidst relentless applause, “Violet Evergarden” started walking on once again.
“I will rush anywhere my clients might desire. I am from the Auto-Memories Doll service, Violet Evergarden.”

In March 2018 I spent 2 weeks (14 days) traveling alone in the Philippines. Although he had already traveled through virtually all of Southeast Asia, the Philippines was that fate that always left a part. I had the idea that it would be a very expensive destination for a backpacking solo trip, and that it would require at least a month to be worth going there.
Fortunately I changed my mind and, taking advantage of the fact that I was in London at the time, I bought a return flight to Manila, and there I went to take the goodies. In fact, travelling in the Philippines ends up getting a little more expensive than in the other Southeast Asian countries. In order not to lose travel time, the plane is always the most effective way to move between islands, but not always the cheapest. The accommodation is also not cheap, I paid substantially more for the stay than I would pay in other countries. As for travel time, yes, indeed, a month would be the ideal travel time to discover this country, but I ended up enjoying enough in 2 weeks of travel, at least to leave me with the pet to go back there as soon as possible!
Below you will find a 2-week travel itinerary through the Philippines to help you plan your next adventure. If you want more detailed information, don't forget to read the travel chronicles I wrote during the time I spent there.
Travel Itinerary | 2 weeks in the Philippines
Day 1 | Manila
2-week tour of the Philippines | American Cemetery in Manila
My trip started in Manila. There were rare blogs and websites that I found that did not recommend that you flee the capital of the Philippines. I have decided to counter them and give this city a chance that despite having one of the worst transits in Southeast Asia, it has enough to offer the cultural level.
Lodging: I was housed in Heroes Hostel. Comfortable, excellent breakfast, good location next to one of the main accesses of the city. For other options Click here: Accommodation in Manila.
Visit: Fort Santiago, Intramuros District, Manila Cathedral, Paco Park, Chinese Cemetery, Pasay Seafood Market, American Cemetery.
Day 3 | Cebu and Bohol
#gallery-0-17 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-17 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-17 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-17 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Cebu
In Cebu I was just passing by, since I had to fly there from Manila, to catch the ferry that took me to Bohol. But Cebu is known for being the crossing point for several other islands such as Bantayan Island (popular for its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters), the Camotes (which not only offers paradidual beaches, but also several different activities like trekkings or visit to Bukilat Grotto or Lake Danao) and Nalusuan (ideal for those seeking diving opportunities). In addition to the passage to the islands, Cebu is also known for its extraordinary waterfalls and wildlife.
Lodging: As I told you I did not stay in Cebu, so I am not able to recommend you a particular hotel, but click on this link to access a list of available hotels in Manila: Accommodation in Cebu.
Bohol
When I put Bohol on my travel plan I was planning to visit the Tarsiers shrine and the famous Chocolate hills. And that's what I did. Already in Cebu, I followed by taxi to the port where I bought the ticket for a ferry that a few hours later would take me to Tagbilaran, the capital of Bohol.
Oceanjet and SuperCat are two of the ferry companies that make this journey 2 hours, but please note that during the typhoon season (from September to February), ferries may be cancelled or delayed. Tickets can be purchased directly from the port, through the websites of each company or through the website 12go.asia.
Lodging: I was housed in Tr3ats Guesthouse Bohol, but frankly, I think you can do better. I stayed away from the city and the rooms weren't exactly comfortable. Take a look here: accommodation in Bohol.
See the article what to do and see on the island of Bohol, Philippines
Day 5 | Coron
#gallery-0-18 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-18 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-18 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-18 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
From Bohol I returned to Cebu Ferry, from where I would catch another 1h30 flight to Busuanga, the capital of the island of Coron, in the province of Palawan. Here I expected a 3-day boat expedition through the TAO Philippines, by paradiitacal deserted beaches, whose final destination would be El Nido. I recommend this experience to all people who ask me for tips on the Philippines, is in fact amazing and the tour very well organised.
Coron itself is somewhat confusing since it is composed of the municipality of Busuanga (the capital), where I stayed one night, the island of Coron and about 50 small islanders located nearby.
Lodging: I stayed one night only at the Sunvalley Tourist Inn, which I recommend. You have to walk a little to the center of the city, but nothing special in reality, and the rooms are very comfortable. If you choose to stay one night just to catch the TAO boat the next day, I recommend you stay in Busuanga, so you're near their office where the tour begins. If you choose to stay a few more days in Coron, then flee from Busuanga that has no great charm and is chaotic at the traffic level, and seeks accommodation in Coron.
What to visit and do: Climb Mount Tapyas, take a tour between islands, visit Kayangan Lake, dive into the Apo Reef Nature Reserve, snorkel at Twin Lagoon, visit the Maquinit hot springs.
See also Chronicles of travel-Philippines 2018
Day 8 | El Nido, LA
#gallery-0-19 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-19 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
The TAO expedition ends in El Nido, one of the main mecha of tourism in the Philippines. Here I spent 2 nights before going to my last destination in the Philippines. The city of El Nido is tourist, very touristic. There are hundreds of cafes, restaurants, bars, travel agencies and tours all over the place. Traffic is chaotic and this is not where you get to rest. But this is where there are countless tours to the incredibly idyllic little islands in the vicinity. These tours can be purchased at one of the many travel agencies that are there. Alternatively, to flee the crowds of tourists who had the same idea as you, you can try renting a private boat and leave early in the morning or in the afternoon. That's what I did, with the group I met on the TAO expedition, near a dive center in El Nido.
Accommodation: It was not easy to find accommodation in El Nido. The prices here were much higher than the rest of the places I'd been in. I wanted privacy (honestly I am no longer old for hostels), so I booked a private room at the Together Pension. Not bad, but if you reserve in advance, you can do better. Click here to search for other options in El Nido: accommodation in El Nido.
What to visit and do: Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, Nacpan Beach, Snake Island, Hidden Beach, Seven Commandos Beach, Simizu Island, Secret Lagoon, Las Cabanas Beach.
Day 10 | Port Barton, in
#gallery-0-20 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-20 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-20 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-20 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
From El Nido I left in a minivan that took 4 hours to reach Port Barton, my last destination in the Philippines. The ticket to the minivan was purchased the night before one of the travel agencies of El Nido.
After hearing so many positive comments about the relaxed and authentic atmosphere of Port Barton, I knew this would have to be my last stop in paradise. Here I spent almost 4 days of total relaxation, on paradiseic beaches where my reading sessions in a hammock, in the shade of a palm tree, only went out for dives in its warm and crystalline waters. I did stand-up paddle, relaxed, met amazing people and promised myself that someday I would come back.
Lodging: The bungalows at Russell's Place came to my house during my stay in Port Barton. Simple but comfortable, they were all I needed. For other options click here: Port Barton accommodation.
What to do and visit: Take a tour between islands, take a trekking to the Pamuayan waterfalls, kayak on the Small Lagoon, do yoga by the beach, make stand-up paddle to the sunset, go by boat to White Beach.
Day 13 | Manila
On my last day in Port Barton I took a minivan to the airport of Puerto Princesa where I would go on a flight towards Manila. Here I would spend the night before I returned home the next day.
Lodging: In my second passage by Manila I opted to stay in a small guesthouse in the neighborhood of Santo Niño, called NoMadsMNL Backpackers Homestay. The room was simple, but relatively comfortable, and inexpensive. For other options Click here: Accommodation in Manila.
And here you go, a two-week travel itinerary through the Philippines. I hope it will help you and make you take the backpack and leave as soon as you go there!

— Dra. Elizabeth Fain e Dra.
