Biologic Hangover
This is a question I get in my support groups a lot!
Why do I feel so tired after taking my biologic?
A very fair question. We call it the "Humira Hangover" (even if you aren't using Humira, the alliteration is important)
It can be different for everyone, but typically, when starting out with a new biologic treatment (Humira, Enbrel, Cosentyx, etc.) you will feel a bit tired to freaking exhausted a day or two after.
Usually this will only last the first few months after starting. Maybe longer or shorter, but it seems to happen to everyone.
For me, I'm exhausted the day of injection, so I try to do my shot at night so it will help me sleep.
Again, it is not an exact science, but, yes, for those who are wondering.. it is a totally normal part of being a biologic user.

trembling because I made so MANY phone calls today. And also I had to turn down taking a test for another less well situated job. And now I have to take an ID photo for THIS job. Everything is going well but I can’t enjoy it and won’t until my PC is set up at the other end and I am receiving paid checks

just did my first cosentyx injection, some quick notes
it's way scarier than an estrogen injection because it comes in a big fuckoff tube
it hurts way less than an estrogen injection, maybe cuz the liquid is less viscous
it costs about $2k per shot more than an estrogen injection (without insurance, welcome to america)
overall, i prefer the estrogen injection due to its less scary nature and lower cost. but i'm hopeful the cosentyx works to make my autoimmune disorder quiet down

A new, unpleasant development. The redness beneath my eye isn’t the result of a punch or anything else dramatic. Rather, it’s a new place my psoriasis is manifesting.
I’ve had psoriasis for almost 30 years and it’s appeared on my face before, in eyebrows, on my nose, or beneath whiskers. Showing up right under my eye and spreading to the lid is new. I’m all but clear except for this spot. Three years ago 50-60% of my skin was covered in plaques.
Next cosentyx injection ships my way tomorrow.

finally saw my rheum today and from the moment he walked in until my dad and i were back in my car and sitting there for like 10 minutes, I sobbed. Like it was genuinely so hard to talk and explain what I've been dealing with since this flare up
he wants to lobby to get me back on cosentyx bc my injection site reactions have been so bad with the taltz and the only reason I switched was bc insurance said I had to 🙃
he's also sending in to get prior auth for lyrica, hopefully not long term, but he thinks my fibro is definitely a part of this flare. So ideally that would help get me out of this flare
also approved 2 more weeks of short term disability leave for me so I at least don't have to worry about going back to work on Tuesday
anyway, it's been a very long, emotional day -- I think I cried 4 separate times today and my poor parents have had to deal with it. Which they keep reminding me they're more than happy to be there for me during all this and my dad went through all this and worse when getting diagnosed with MS and going on disability. Which sucks but it helps SO much to have one of the people I'm closest with in this world know what I'm going through. We have quite a few similar symptoms, which there's always that thought in the back of my mind that what if this is MS, but 🤷‍♀️
