“Just without panic” - a fully fledged review of “Na Meji Nevidnega (NMN)”, a Slovenian Comic-Con Convention

I’ve woken up at exactly 1 hour before 9’o clock, when I had to drive to Postojna from my hometown. There, I’ve met with my girlfriend @aquamoon33 and her two friends. I’ve driven them with me to the parking place, where I’ve put my car for rest.

Then we had to walk like for 2 and a half kilometers away from the convention, where it was taken place. Damn, that stupid GPS! I’ve written the address and it got me waaay, waay back than the convention was taking place! After some mourning and hard-boiled swearing by her friends (luckily, I’m used to walking), we got to the convention, where we payed a on-the-bridge-of-not hefty entrance fee of 8 Euros. Than, me and my GF walked back ALL THE WAY to my car, where I just had to prepark it. The parking space was very price hefty! For less than 2 hours, I payed 3 euros, whereas on the convention center, where I preparked my car, I payed only 4.5 euros - for 10 hours parking there!

After I preparked my car, we went inside the convention where me and GF changed in our Splatoon 2 cosplays, while here two friends were looking around the artist corner. She went inside the men’s WC with me - which was kind of odd for me, as an older 30-something person - and helped me put on my face mask. It was quite difficult to put so much make up on my not used to make up skin, but it was really worth it. Then I waited for her outside of the women’s WC and when she got back out, we got Splatooning things and people :) In the end, it was worht it - chech out these picture we’ve made! By having such cool Splatoon 2 cosplays (we were actually the ONLY one with cosplays, made by the company Nintendo) I felt like we were on the Tokio Gaming Show (TGS) 2019, that happened the same weekend!

But as cosplayers go, we got hungry quite fast! So we went for a hotdog or two near the entrance to the convention and there it started getting hotter and hotter. There was no shadow near the entrance hall! No canopy or something like that! And that’s when I felt like an italian gellato, which was melting under it’s wig.. so hot! This was something I would like to see the organisers change next year!

Also, me and my GF wasn’t very happy with the so-called gaming zone of this event. There should be some (retro) consoles from the past and with some of the bests games of all time. Heck, I think that even myself has got much older and better games to play with. Instead, there were only like 5 consoles and every console was by the same brand/company - Sony Playstation 4! Why wasn’t there no Nintendo, Xbox, or even and old school Sega (Mega Drive, Dreamcast)? Just because of this lackluster of consoles, I decided that next year, I’ll bring my Switch, dock and controllers with me, so the Gaming Zone won’t be so empty as it was this year!

Still, I managed to play some cool racing game, where there was a seat and a steering wheel. I managed to play inside of my cosplay costume and played the one stage with me heaviest of turns. Turns out (pun included!) that my 10-years of driving skills haven’t let me down. I was driving really good, until I hit the last corner and was driving soooo fast, that I drove outside of the road! Yikes! But that is because of the lack of any force feedback, except for the rumbling of the steering wheel.

All in all, the convetion was quite pleasant! We went on an interesting topic/lecture about “Are there women’s on the internet?”, which happened at the same time as the cosplay rating. I have to admit, the lecturer was quite anxious while she was talking. Felt like @aquamoon33 would made a lecture for us! :) After that, we went on the annual geek quiz, which had some ridicolous hard questions in it - Like, who directed the THX-1138 movie? (Hint: the one who made Star Wars franchise!)

Score: 7.0 / 10

The Good:

- Many cosplayers.

- Many artists/companies.

- Some good lectures.

- Annual NMN Geek Quiz.

The Bad:

- Quite hefty entrance fee.

- No canopy where the food was.

- No Nintendo/Microsoft/Sega consoles.

„Nur ohne Panik“ - eine ganztümliche Rezension von „Na Meji Nevidnega (NMN)“, einer slowenischen Comic-Con Convention

Ich bin um genau eine Stunden bevor 9 aufgestanden, da ich nach Postojna von meiner Heimatstadt gefahren musste. Dort traff ich meine Freundinn @aquamoon33 und ihre zwei Freundinnne. Wir fuhren bis zum Parkingplatz in Ljubljana, wo ich meinen Wagen hatte stehen lassen.

Dann mussten wir ‚ne ganzen 2 und einhalb Kilometer bis zur Convention zu Fuß hinlegen, wo das Ereignis auch stattfand. Verflixt, dieses dumme GPS-Gerät! Ich schrieb mir die adresse auf und dann kam ich weeeit, weeeit weg vom Ort wo sich die Convention befand! Nach ein par Fluchwörter und anderen Krimskrams von ihren Freundinnen (zum Glück bin ich es gewohnt zu gehen) kamen wir auf der Convention vorbei, wo wir ganz schön heftig für den Eintritt bezahlen musten - 8 Euros! Dann sind ich und meine Freundinn DEN GANZEN WEG zurück zu Fuß gegangen, wo ich es Unparkt musste. Die Parkingpreise waren auch sehr hoch! Für weniger als zwei Stunden musste ich 3 Euros bezahlen, wobei ich auf dem Conventionsplatz nur 4.5 Euros bezahlen musste - für 10 Stunden Parking!

Nachdem ich meinen Wagen preparkiert hatte, gingen wir zusammen mit meiner Freundinn bis zut Convention, wo wir und in unseren Splatoon 2 cosplays umziehen hatten. Ihre zwei Freundinnen gingen weiter an der Künstleralle weiter. Sie ging mit mir in die Männertoillete - was für mich als eine 30-jährige Person etwas komisch was - und hilfte mir mit meiner Gesichtsmaske. Es war schon ganz schwierig so viel Make-Up auf mein Gesicht zu schmieren, aber es lohnte sich. Dann wartete ich sie vor der Frauentoillete und als sie zuruckkam, ging wir zu Splatonerischen Quatsch vor, so Dinge als auch Menschen! :) Am Ende lohnte es sich - sieh diese Fotos, die ich gemacht habe, an! Da wir solc colle Splatoon 2-Kostüme an hatten (wir waren ja auch die EINZIGEN mit cosplays, die von Nintendo-Karakteren stammtem) fühlte ich mich so an, als wären wir bei der Tokio Gaming Show (TGS) 2019 dabei, das am selben Wochenende wie diese Convention stattfand!

Aber wie auch die Cosplayers so sind, waren wir selbverständlich schnel hungrig geworden! Deshalb gingen wir auch einen Hotdog oder zwei, in der nähe des Eintritts zur Convention und dort wurde es nur noch heißer und heißer! Keinen Baldahin oder so etwas in weit und breite! Und dann fühlte ich mich auch noch als ein italinienisches Gellato, da ich es schmelze unter meiner Perücke... so heiß! Das war etwas, das ich nächstes Jahr von Organisatoren her wieder gestaltet werden sehen möchte!

Und noch etwas - ich und meiner Freundinn waren nicht so sehr gute Laune in der s. g. Gaming Zone bei dieser Veranstaltung. Da sollte es doch mehrere (retro) Konsolen aus der Vergangenheit geben, zusammen mit den besten Spielen aller Zeiten. Verflixt, auch ich habe mehrere alte und bessere Konsolen/Spiele zu hause stehen zum Spielen. Stattdessen gab es nur 5 Konsolen und jedes Einzige Exemplar war nur von einer Kompanie/Hersteller - Sony Playstation 4! Wieso gab es auf den Ereigniss keine Nintendo, Xbox oder sogar eine sehr alte Sega (Mega Drive, Dreamcast) Konsole zur Verfügung? Nur da es eine solch mickriege/erbähmliche Anzahl von Konsolen gab, hab ich mir gesagt, das ich nächstes Jahr meine Switch, dock und controllers mit mir nehme, so das die Gaming Zone nicht so leer sein wird wie dieses Jahr!

Dennoch, have ich ein schnelles Rennspiel gespielt, wo auch ein Sportsessel und ein Lenkrad zur vefügung standen. Ich habe sammt meines Cosplaykostüms eine Stage gespielt, die die meisten Kurven hatte. Sieht so aus als ob mir meine 10 jahre Fahrerfahrungen doch nicht im Stich gelassen haben. Ich fuhr ziemlich gut, bis ich bei der letzten Kurve sooo schnel gefuhren bin, das ich meinen (virtuellen) Wagen aus der Straße geflogen bin! Donnerwetter! Aber das war auch weil bei diesem Spiel es keine Force-Feedback Funktion gab, ausser rumble auf dem Lenkrad.

Zusammengefast war die Konvention ganz schon angehenm! Wir gingen zur einem interessanten Vortrag über das Thema „Gibt es Frauen auf dem Internet?“, das sich am selber Zeit staffand wie das Cosplay rating. I muss schon sagen, das man genau spürte, wann die Lektorin des Beitrages Lampenfieber hatte. Fühlte sich so an, als hätte @aquamoon33 eine Lektüre vor uns! :) Nicht zuletzt gingen wir auch das jährliche Geek-Quiz, wo es auch harte und lächerliche fragen gab - wie z. B. wer hat den Film THX-1138 regissiert? (Hinweis: der eine, der auch die Star Wars-Reihe gemacht hat!)

Das Beste:

- viele Cosplayers.

- viele Künstler/Unternehmen.

- ein paar gute Vorträger.

- das jährliche NMN Geek-Quiz.

Das Schlechte:

- ganz schon kräftiger Eintrittspreis.

- keine Überdachung beim Essensplatz.

- keine Nintendo/Microsoft/Sega Konsolen.
